yep. Been there. Keep up the good work. I have only lost 2 lbs in 3 weeks. So my weight has gone up and down!!! Not going to get depressed and am going to stick with it!!!

Body for Life Forum Message by georgiawendy (385 posts) at 06:58 AM:
Completely normal and very common, especially for women. Stay consistent and committed throughout the entire 12 weeks, and you will have a huge smile on your face, especially after week 8!

Boy I sure hope this is true! I lost 3 at week 2, then gained 2 at week 3...not exactly the results I was looking for....

Thread: How important is the 6th meal (199 Views)

Body for Life Forum Message by Soccermom (4 posts) at 06:52 AM:
do you think that it is really true. I also don't eat that 6th meal? Go to bed around 9:00 or so and eat dinner at 6:00.

Body for Life Forum Message by goingforbuff (1589 posts) at 09:33 AM:
A great choice for that last meal is cottage cheese with fruit or yogurt. Cottage cheese is very slowly digested, so it keeps feeding your body for a longer time. I believe this last meal does help with keeping your metabolism going!

Body for Life Forum Message by jamber (977 posts) at 10:04 AM:
I feel like if I eat a meal like goingfor buff describes(and its a small one) I feel like I wake up leaner. especially if I'm taking my supplements and drinking all my water. Plus my early morning HIIT is better if I eat the night before.

Body for Life Forum Message by wdrew (266 posts) at 10:12 AM:
The important thing is to make sure you eat every 2 1/2 - 3 hours. With my crazy work schedule, there are days that I actually have seven meals, and days that I only have five. Most of the time that 6th meal is right before bedtime.

Body for Life Forum Message by michiganmike (280 posts) at 10:52 AM:
For all of you asking whether "it's really true?" that you need a 6th meal, why in the world do you think Bill put it in the book and in the program? Do you really think it's necessary to do the 6 sets of exercises per body part? Do you really think it's true that you should rest one day a week? Take each part away piece by piece, and you soon find yourself wondering, "I guess this program doesn't work for everyone, does it?" Don't mess with success! Eat meal 6.

I make spicy sweet potato fries and they are so YUM! *This is just a carb* Cut a seet potato in wedges (like steak fries) shake in container with a small amount of olive oil and then sprinkle them with kosher salt. Then sprinkle them with cayenne (red) pepper. Bake in 400 degree oven for about 30 minutes. They are so delicious because the hint of heat goes with the sweet so good!

Body for Life Forum Message by Reagiesmom (480 posts) at 07:55 PM:
Well I always thought mine was 72 because thats what it was at the grocery store blood pressure machine. I guess it was a shock to me to see 49, but my hubby bought me one and I (being the geek that I am ) immediately put it on and I had been sitting on the couch all nite and it said 49!! I guess that's good?!?!

Body for Life Forum Message by WorkInProgress (181 posts) at 08:32 PM:
Mine's 60 right now - and that's a few beats faster than first thing in the morning. Probably because I'm sat at my desk trying to understand a project I'm supposed to be taking over, and need to present on it tomorrow! EEk!

I don't have shops such as Target in Spain so I search in the net. I came across sandiegofit.com. It has many brands and I purchased a couple of pants from Bia Brazil which are brilliant. They may be a bit pricey but worth it because of the quality and fit. Crucky

how much cooked oatmeal is considered a serving? 1 cup seems like a lot.

Body for Life Forum Message by georgiawendy (385 posts) at 07:40 AM:
I alternate between 1/3 c. dry and 1/2 c. dry....not sure how much that would be after it's cooked. I've never actually measured it cooked.

Body for Life Forum Message by bubblz7 (54 posts) at 07:42 AM:
Per the box: 1 serving = 1/2 cup dry (40 g) 1/2 cup dry oats = 1 cup cooked oats I always did 1 cup cooked until recently when I backed it back to 3/4 of a cup. LOL big difference, but seems to be working. Suzanne

Body for Life Forum Message by rainy (56 posts) at 09:14 AM:
i do 1/4c oatmeal and 1/2 c water. (measured before cooked as well). it's quite filling. that plus eggs in the morning is enough to fill me up for the next 3 hours.

Thread: Making protein shake a complete meal? (31 Views)

Body for Life Forum Message by nola (82 posts) at 08:22 PM: Making protein shake a complete meal?
I finally tried Mypolex Lite today and hated it...I actually poured it down the drain! I started out with Designer Whey because the Myoplex was so expensive, but bought one packet the other day since I could buy just one. Anyway, the Myoplex is supposed to be a "complete meal" and my Designer Whey is just Whey Protein, so what should I make sure to have with it to make it complete? I have been making it with water and I usually have some sort of carb with it. Do I need to have a fat with it as well? Thanks, Eileen

Body for Life Forum Message by spartankf (792 posts) at 08:25 PM:
You can make a protein/fruit smoothie! A scoop of protein powder, some ice, some water, frozen no sugar added fruit of your choice, a little splenda for taste and blend it all up! Tastes yummy!

Body for Life Forum Message by blessedgirl (10 posts) at 08:59 PM:
I usually make mine with some berries for the carb but I dont worry about the fat portion. Im not saying Im right, thats just what I do.

Thread: Why does my proatmeal taste horrible? (20 Views)

Body for Life Forum Message by Leesaw73 (3 posts) at 09:30 PM: Why does my proatmeal taste horrible?
I see alot of posts about people mixing protein powder with their oatmeal for a complete meal so I decided to try it so I wouldn't have to cook egg whites with my oatmeal all the time. Well.... It tasted so horrible that I had to throw it away. I couldn't even force it down without gagging. Is this an aquired tast or am I using the wrong protiein powder. I used French Vanilla Designer Whey.

Body for Life Forum Message by WorkInProgress (181 posts) at 10:03 PM:
i mix my oatmeal with chocolate protein powder and milk (i can't stand it with water, it does super grainy and gross). also, i don't make it in a microwave, stove top is the way to go - don't ask me why but it seems to make a difference!

Body for Life Forum Message by Flower (2314 posts) at 02:14 AM:
I've always thought that when you were hearing good reports on this is was from the ephedra days. Does anyone have a good report of Hydroxycut without ephedra?

Body for Life Forum Message by snowboardingfairy (217 posts) at 04:21 PM:
Ephedra has been legalized through some loophole of the system. At my supplent shop, you can buy products w/ ephedra in them. They now have to put labels stating that you should not exceed a certain mg amount. Not that it would stop people from taking more than 1 pill, so whatever.

Body for Life Forum Message by Hot Body (660 posts) at 04:57 PM:
I think the main ingredient in most "fat burners" today is the same that can be found in green tea. So, I figure I'll just keep drinking green tea! Didn't Sylvia/Cookie use Hydroxycut? She certainly looks great - I wonder if she'd attribute some of her success to H?

Body for Life Forum Message by morpho_veja (46 posts) at 08:43 PM:
So does anyone know if ephedra has any bad long term effects? About five years ago I used Metabolife with ephedra to lose weight (a very unhealthy way) it basically made me not hungry. I would smoke a lot and not eat. I don't smoke anymore and am trying to be healthy, natural. I guess I have this feeling that something like hydroxycut is not really putting you forth on a healthy life style. Is this not the case? Those that use it do you still feel healthy? I probably just shouldn't even get in the conversation I personally have been very unhealthy in the past and have worked really hard to get on track. Slowly it's working. It just suprises me that people on here want to use pills to enhance weight loss. I feel like it goes against the goals of the program. Any thoughts?

Body for Life Forum Message by Robin78745 (37 posts) at 06:16 PM:
I think Hydroxycut is a diet pill (in the sense that it supresses your apetite) but a metabolism booster. It increases your metabolism. I haven't tried Hydroxycut- Hardcore...whats the difference between it and regular Hydroxycut?

Body for Life Forum Message by Robin78745 (37 posts) at 06:16 PM:

Body for Life Forum Message by Coloradokid1984 (170 posts) at 07:18 PM:
I am using the ideas and methods of the BFL, but like everyone I am looking to lose more and faster... I am wanting more than 1-2 pounds a week....

Body for Life Forum Message by Reagiesmom (480 posts) at 07:46 PM:
No experience here... but i might as well ask.... is there anything harmful in hydroxycut? I would consider using it but I am afraid of anything bad it can do to you. I am not really knowledgable about stuff like that and even if I read the label, I wouldnt know what was in it.... is it safe? Anything that isn't harmful but would help me would be wonderful right now since I am stuck at a certain weight. :(

Body for Life Forum Message by Forest Tech (143 posts) at 08:12 PM:
yea i wonder the same thing.. its seems good and all to just try it.. but I am kinda nervous about unforseen side effects.. like screwing up hormones.. or affecting things you would usually not consider.. I wish some ppl have had some experience with it and could share!

Body for Life Forum Message by SupaFreak (1037 posts) at 09:06 PM:
Pills? We don't need no stinkin Pills!! Just remember guys--there are no 'magic' bullets. If a diet pill like hydroxycut or another other 'diet' pill for that matter actually worked, the FDA would swipe it up in a heartbeat to regulate it and make money off it. And THEN the whole world would be thin with no effort at all. I would say to everyone on the diet pills to save their money and kick ass in the gym and nutrition department instead. If you 'have' to have something, caffeine is probably one of the best and cheapest accelerants out there. And I believe in what my Idol Bill Phillips wrote in that 1-2 pounds a week is SAFE and permanent weight loss. Lose any more than that, and you are probably damaging your body, losing muscle, and/or losing 'weight' but it's probably NOT a fat loss. Maybe everyone should make it a point to reread the BFL book. ???? There...that was about my 5 cents worth of blabbering. Danielle

Body for Life Forum Message by ICU_RN (860 posts) at 11:56 AM:
My high school graduation gift was a month in Europe and I flew there on one of British Airway's smaller planes, which I believe to have been a 747. I came back on a MUCH bigger plane (DC10, which are not in production anymore...my grandmother worked for Boeing, so I'm familar with the different types of planes), but the ride over there wasn't too bad. 9 hours on a place sucked, but I slept quite a few of those. It was a comfortable ride and they gave me lots of goodies (warm blanket, sleep masket, slippers, etc.) Have a great time in Sicily...my family is from Palermo and I would love to visit where my ancestors ended up after leaving Greece (2 Greek brothers came over to Palermo to start their careers as physicians and that's how I came to be "from" Sicily). Let us know your trip goes. I'm jealous....when our kids are a bit older, we are planning on taking them to Europe. I had such a great time while I was over there. We backpacked through England, France, Germany, and Spain. It was a blast....I was 17 and my best friend was 18. We stayed in youth hostels and made tons of traveling buddies. Things will be different when we go back as a family, but I'm betting we'll still have a great time. Lucky you! Melanie = )

Body for Life Forum Message by bubblz7 (54 posts) at 02:02 PM:
I fly to Germany every year. As Scattergold stated, I also have never had a bad flight internationally. The planes change sizes everytime I go. One time its big, next time not so big. It's always the same. Enjoy your trip and have a glass of wine for me. Suzanne

Body for Life Forum Message by michiganmike (280 posts) at 02:52 PM:
Cabin comforts are slightly less in the 757 than in the larger crafts but the ride and feel should be no different. The only possible exception would be the ride during ascent and descent when at cloud lines, in which case almost all aircraft encounter a bit of bumpiness but it is a bit less noticable in the 747 and other so called "heavies." But, you're talking about maybe 1 minute each on climbout and approach and even then only if there is cloud cover.

Body for Life Forum Message by 3D (75 posts) at 03:11 PM:
Thanks, everyone. We will be staying in Palermo and traveling out from there. We have 2 months to study and figure out just what to see. Taorimina, Mt. Etna, Agrigento, ... We started taking our daughter to Italy when she was in first grade. This will be her third trip. We thought she'd be bored to tears but she absolutely loves running around the fountains in the piazzas in Rome and she loved Venice. I hope we are as fortunate in Sicily! She's not so thrilled by looking at ruins but one day she will be.

I had not seen my toes in years Doctor visits confirmed my fears My weight was nearly off the chart Straining every beat of my heart My blood results were really nasty Cholesterol high, intestines gassy Triglycerides were in the clouds Preparing me for my burial shroud A flight of stairs could do me in Exercise, to me, was a mortal sin I was on my way to an early grave Hiding my pain in my lonely cave And then I read that book by Bill With no promise of a magic pill Instead he educated me in food And exercise to improve my mood What fool would eat six meals per day That’s too much food my friends would say And who would exercise in the morning When most of us are in bed snoring My friends told me I could not do it Too weak of mind to get me fit They just knew I’d fail to exercise Negative friends, should I be surprised Now I could choose to prove them right Give up the battle before the fight Or with effort I could prove them wrong Transform my body from weak to strong It really wasn’t a tough decision I’d live my life with strict precision I’d walk the talk for the next 12 weeks Endure the valley and enjoy the peaks So with the end results in mind I left my old lifestyle behind Started eating right and working out Some days were great, on some I’d pout Sometimes my weight would melt away The smile on my face was there to stay Until my weight would just stagnate And then, the program I would hate But I stayed focused on my goal Soon my body began to mold Into the man I knew was inside That underneath the fat did hide Then my viewpoint began to change Priorities started to rearrange And I took my eyes off of me To help others was now my strategy To tell others that they could succeed My turn to pass on Bill’s good deed For anyone can transform their lives They don’t need to live in physical strife We know there is no magic pill It takes education and a strong will All you need is to live life right And your future will be cheerfully bright When someone says that you will fail Let their words drift to no avail For you have changed and they have not And you’ve improved your life a lot

You are not alone on that account! I'm frustrated with my job, I got two kids closing in on college, a wife returning to school. Then other life things: Kid is getting sick, car is acting flaky and kids need help with the homework all the time. Put your life into a list of priorities and count your blessings! Mine are my wife and children, my health (to a point), I have a roof over my head and a decent job with decent skills! Its all good! And when the trials end you will be stronger for it and hit your next set of trials! Good Luck! Steve

Body for Life Forum Message by georgiawendy (385 posts) at 12:08 PM:
I agree with Kerry. It's important to talk to someone who knows your personal situation and can help you to get the ball rolling with specific, measurable, attainable goals. When I was single and suddenly found myself downsized from my "dream" job and unemployed for a few months, I wrote down every single penny I spent in a month. I was surprised to find many ways to cut back, some drastically. This helped me get everything under control and moving in the right direction, especially in the way of credit card debt. It was not EASY or PAINLESS, but it worked. I have since learned to lead a much more simple and less materialistic life because of this experience. I have heard some good basic advice from Suze Orman. You may want to check out one of her books at a library.

the truth is I have read those books and put them into action... It has gotten a lot better so I should measure my progress. It just seems that when I get something paid off something else comes up if you know what I mean. I guess just pray that it keeps going down and that one day the only debt I have is a mortgage and school loans.

Body for Life Forum Message by Suz2lose (50 posts) at 03:14 PM:
Focus about all the wonderful things in life you do have! Keep positive energy on the things that you desire. Negative thoughts do not allow us to have positive energy return to us. Tink about it...does worrying and thinking we will never have it - get it to us any sooner? Always Always think positive. Look deep and see what choices in our life that are keeping you from getting to your desires...both physically and emotionally. When I get frustrated, I always say "I CHOOSE TO FEEL GOOD NOW" and think about something positive that makes me happy and before you know it I realize that debt and lack of material things (minus a wedding ring - cus that's pretty cool) aren't as important to me. Just focus on today and always be happy! Trust me it works. I do my best to not thing negative. Depends on your religion, but prayer is another option! :)

my goodness...my fingers are all over the place...couple of typos in there. I'd like to refer you to a cd book by Dr. Anthony. It talks about how are unconcious thoughts keep us from having what we desire. I have listened to it for the last month and have found my choices are so much mmore positive and successful in what I want. It's called "the dynamic power of deliberate creation". I normally don't "sell" a product - but I totally trust that anyone who listens to this cd will never want to go back to the way they managed their thoughts/life.

I'm with Kerry on the 'plan for success' - planning makes such a difference in every part of our lives. My husband and I were also very much in debt this time last year. After a wedding, honeymoon and 3 international moves and a lot of money to the NZ Immigration Services, our credit cards were crying for mercy! We sat down last January, made a plan for how we were going to pay it off and now we are 6 months from being debt free. Don't get me wrong, it's been hard work to get this far. We've sacrificed some of the stuff we like to have/do. But it feels so good to be paying off chunks of our debt. We've also looked at ways of making quick cash - which has included buying vans cheap and making them into cheap caravans and selling at a profit to backpackers. If you want to pay off the debt, you will find a way!The part that makes me realise that were on the right track is that the banks have starting offering us more money (but were not taking it, NO WAY!). PM me if you want some ideas on books to read and other resources! YOU CAN DO THIS!

Not only does that apply to BFL but it also applies to all things in life, Relationships, finances, faith. Make a plan to get out of debt and then make a plan to have your money start working for you. I have to tell you it will take effort and research. If you put as much effort and passion into reaching financial independance as you have done with Body for Life. YOU WILL PREVAIL!!!!!!!!!!!! Your BFL Buddy, Rod

I'm with Rod on this one. My fiance and I recently realized we were in debt pretty high so we took all are debts and lined them up in order of higest interest rate to lowest. We then paid the bare minimum payments on the highest and pooled all of our money on the highest interest rate cards. We now owe money on only one card and her student loan. If everything keeps going as planned we will debt free by Christmas, plus be able to go on the Champions for life Cruise this year. I don't know if this'll help you at all but it seemed to work for us.

I've been lurking around here for a week or so, didnt see a thread I felt I could add something too until I cam across this one :). I use iFit on my treadmill everyday. It is awesome and worth the monthly fee. I mounted an LCD on the wall in front of my treadmill, connected to my PC. Makes the workout sail by everytime. THe PC and iFit control the equipment so it make it a no brainer to get in a great cardio w/o. I also have iFit running my cycle. iFit is a great tool. I recomend it.

I have never used ifit.com as my recumbent bike isn't anywhere near my PC, but I have used one of their video tapes. You connect the VCR to the bike via an RCA audio output. There are tones that contol the resistance and speed indicators on the bike as you ride along from "coast to coast" through mauntains and valleys, etc on your TV screen. I don't use it for HIIT as it isn't quite intense enough for me, but I use it occasionally for a more moderate cardio workout.

I do squats with a bench where I need my butt to touch! like if I want to go lower I get a shorter bench, if I feel less energy and like I might hurt myself I go for th reg bench... just my two cents. remember that your butt is only to touch not rest for a second!

Body for Life Forum Message by RyanCTJ (56 posts) at 07:19 AM:
I use a smith machine and find it gives good results. As long as your form is good I don't think you are any more prone to injuries. I would imagine using the squat rack would be slightly better for you as you will need to bring more stabiliser muscles into play to do "free squats" compared to smith machine. Whatever you use, squats are pain! But the good kind of pain if you know what I mean ;)

Body for Life Forum Message by bubblz7 (54 posts) at 07:37 AM:
I, too, am finding that bumping up the dumbbells is 1) too hard on my upper body and 2) way too bulky to keep proper form on my 6 rep set. I'm a weeny, so I just bumped up to 15,20,25 and 30 lb dumbbells. 15-25 No problem but the 30 is so huge that I couldn't keep good form. I've done regular barbell squats before but again it gets too heavy to lift up and over my head. I don't know the difference between a smith machine and a squat rack. Can someone please explain. Suzanne

Body for Life Forum Message by Young Guns (1618 posts) at 08:04 AM:
squats below parralell have not been proven to be bad for your knees ever by anyone! There's a whole bunch of experts out there that will tell you it's bad on the knees but there has never been a medical study to prove it. The leg extention machine however has been proven to cause A LOT of damage to your knees. I have always gone below paralell with my squats and my knees have never gotten sore. Going below parralell makes you work harder parralell is where the comfort zone ends. Another point...one day I tried the putting a bench there so you don't go too low and each time I touched the bench with my butt I had a pain shoot up through my lower back. So I'd be very wary of this exercise.

Well, I up my weight every week even if by a little. I workout at the gym in the mornings. So my sequence is different depending on what equipment is available. Hi all, My husband and I are starting week four and he has developed pain in one knee. He says that he can still do the dumbell squats, but with less weight. Is this ok? He already had large legs (those German thighs!) and does not want to bulk up his legs too much. So far, no other exercise bothers the knee. We work out at home, so options are limited. So basically my question is, is it ok to drop weight to let an injury heal? Should he do more reps to hit his 10's? Thanks, JEnn

Get organised - in whatever way works for you, right it down in an organiser, on your fridge, or on your fore-head! Drink water, and LOTS of it! Oh, and always know where the next bathroom is. Body for Life Forum Message by kitwhit (41 posts) at 08:06 AM:
This is my first challenge ever and I guess I am "tweaking" a little but I wouldn't even call it extra cardio. On my cardio days I do the HIIT exactly as written. On my non cardio days I walk moderately on the treadmill for 20 minutes first thing in the morning. I think the fact that I'm burning a little extra fat is part of it but mostly I just really like the way a little exercise makes me feel - I find I have much more energy throughout the day and it also works as a big mood elevator. I do the extra simply because it makes me feel good. It ends up being a mile in 20 minutes and I burn about 150-170 calories.

Body for Life Forum Message by Pan (47 posts) at 08:44 AM:
I have tweaked the program for years left right and centre. That always left me overtrained and burned out to which i would finally quit. For the first time in my life after speaking with this years bfl finalists (to which nearly of all stuck to the program to a T) decided to take the bfl challenge and to truely follow it out as per the book..... ...and you know it really works, 8 weeks down the line my bf has dropped from 35-20%, God Bless Pan

Body for Life Forum Message by Linne (511 posts) at 09:13 AM:
I am just more active over all because I have more energy- from what Ive heard from some champs it is the same with them- they may get out and walk more places etc vs. driving....I do know that they pump up the volume at the end on weight training to really bring out those muscles to the best potential...something I would do if I was doing a real challenge again is hire a trainer to make sure Im doing the exercises to the maximum capacity. Stick to BFL plan but make sure that I am doing those routines jusssstttt right!! (Especially on the last half of the challenge).

Body for Life Forum Message by jamber (977 posts) at 10:00 AM:
At one point I had let myself buy into the idea that If I were close to my goal, the BFL program would have to be tweaked somewhat to get the results I wanted. But after frustrating myself with hell diets and 10K training, I have repented of my ways, and since I started my most recent challenge, I have continued to lose 2 pounds per week, even though I'm down to the last 20. I decided that its BFL solid until I reach a plateau, then 1 week of extra cardio to bust it, then back to BFL straight up again. It a very fine balance of eating enough/toomuch, exercising enough/too much to keep fat burning at optimum levels. It was designed a certain way because it works. I'm not going to second guess it until I know more about fitnes and nutrition than Bill Phillips. LOL Oh yeah, ditto Steve and TNT. :)

Body for Life Forum Message by JerryBraam.com (150 posts) at 11:02 AM: Did the champs tweak it?

When I did my 1st Challenge in 2001.
I knew nothing about fitness or nutrition. I wouldn't have even know how to tweak. My success was totally by Bill's book. Even after hearing several tweaks, I stayed with the program while training for Muscle Media photo shoots.

I strongly encourage everyone... stay with the book as Steve Yu & MichiganMike advise. Especially if it is your 1st experience.  It is much less confusing...

I think it is because I have been so religious and worked so hard and am not seeing big results yet. I bought some fitness magazines and will read those to hopefully get that spark back. What do you guys do when you lose motivation? PK

First, most people do not see significant change until around weeks 8-9. As I have been reminded time and again, I didn't get in bad shape in 12 weeks, it took time. Likewise it's going to take time to get fit. Also, this is a lifestyle change. It's not a 12 week program, and then go back to your old lifestyle. Stay the course, you WILL see change. Lastly, go back and look at your goals and reasons for wanting to get fit. Review them daily if necessary. If you haven't written them down, do so today. Not just your goals, but the REASONS why you want to obtain those goals. Remember you CAN do this, and you WILL do this. No Excuses - Just Results Brian

Honestly, I'm not always motivated to live this way. There are many times I have to literally force myself to do the right things. In my first challenge, I went on blind faith until week 8, when I finally saw some visible results. That boosted my confidence to a certain degree. To be successful long-term, however, you have to find that inner reason known only to you to keep moving foward and progressing. Whenever I'm feeling like poor me, I will watch Body of Work or even better, go to helpjuliewhitt.com to remind myself of everything she went through.

PK, During my first challenge, I put my before pictures up in the bathroom taped to the mirror by the sink. So, every morning when I got up at 530am to work out, I remembered WHY I was getting up at such a forsaken hour. If I felt like I was getting down, I'd go back and reread my goals, just like Brian suggested. I'd come onto BFL chat. (at the time it was a wonderful FULL chatroom with BFL people around the country/world) If I were lost of motivation, they certainly would pump me back up. So, use US, your BFL Pumper-Back-Uppers! (LOL P-B-U) And lastly, for current motivation, go take a look at Julie Whitts "DO IT" video. If that doesn't motivate you, I don't know what will. Remember, NEVER GIVE UP!! Hope this helps. Suzanne

Remember... the analogy seems more common in sports, but Champions have incredible mental visionary power going on which tends to put them above the rest of the pack. See yourself as the finished product...not the before product you are running away from... Imagine the sense of well being, yes pride, and accomplishment you will feel when you have obtained your goals. Honestly, who really cares if it is 12 weeks or 120 weeks... the fact will be that you have molded your body ( and mind ) in spite of all odds. You will be healthier, happier, and will look and feel better. I can't really imagine a more powerful motivation than that. Yours in Health, Kerry

Focus on all the great work you have done so far - 4 weeks worth of cardio, weights and BFL eating... you have already accomplished so much, why throw it away? Bill Phillips says to expect adversity along the way - not every day will be a day when you leap out of bed, dying to hop on the treadmill (trust me!!!) but just keep going, taking it one step at a time... and when things do go a little astray forget it - put them to one side and move on. What is done is done but what is going to happen is entirely up to you... Just think to the next 4 weeks... how amazing you will be looking and feeling by doing this. I have just finished w5 and whilst things are getting loser, I am getting faster and stronger I have not had a big weight change yet.... but I am going to keep going to the very end to see exactly what I am capable of. remember everyone is with you every step of the way :)

Hey Pk, Once i decided that this was for LIFE i have never looked back. I always read my REASONS for undertaking this challenge. They seem to motivate me more than anything. But if thats not enough here are a few practical things you could do. 1. Go back to November and read all the finalists blogs on bodyforlife.com. They always inspire me (esp. in ur case nicoles blog to which after 4 weeks she barely made a change, BUT stuck with it and came out a winner) 2. Watch the body of work - or the success stories. 3. Read the posts on tracker and see how all these great people on this site accomplished what they have accomplished. 4. If all fails my friend PM us and we will be glad to offer our support in anyway we can We are all here to give each other strength. God Bless Pan p.s all i have to do is look at my 20 month old girl and thats motivation enough, i wouldnt dream of her growing up to a fat out of shape dad who would not be able to play with her and who the kids at school would mock her for her dad.... p.s the great mike harris on the guest book and on tracker http://www.bodyforlife-tracker.com/searchprofile.cfm?id=14986 has complied a success lady document to which many ladies after week 8 start to see progress, pm him for it.

everyone here I think has looked better by the 3rd week! what do you mean the 8th? just because as soon as week 8 rolls around and you take a good look, that doesn't mean there weren't changes! I mean think of the inches lost and the pictures. go back and study them.

Body for Life Forum Message by VegasGuy (108 posts) at 11:40 AM:
I think that most be DO notice the changes more around the 8th week, but that really depends on the person. That is also why it is so important to take you photos every 2-4 weeks. One of the things that I've noticed is that for me, during the first 1-6 weeks or so, that my body SHAPE doesn't change that much. By that I mean that even though I am losing weight and gaining muscle, the over shape of my body doesn't so much change as it does shrink. If you were to look at an outline of my shape, you would see that it is getting thinner/smaller, but that the curves (not the good ones) are still basically the same. Around week 6 or 8 is when most people start seeing the changes because that's when your SHAPE actually starts to really look different. You've laid the groudwork bu then, a lot of the fat has come off, and now the muscle is starting to be the dominant feature we see. I also think that it's important to post your pics, because that is one of the things that keeps everyone motivated. It keeps you motivated because in a sense you feel more accountable. You know you better keep going, because your gonna have to post some progress pics soon for everyone to see. And it keeps all of us motivated to see everyone elses progress and know that they have struggles and obstacles just like us. Stay Strong! Chris

I struggle with this a lot. I only push myself so far and then their is like this fear of going further. How do you break through? I find this especially with cardio, I think I panic before I hit my 10 and bail out. Any thoughts? Donna aka She Bear

Body for Life Forum Message by bubblz7 (54 posts) at 10:07 AM:
Donna, I think I used to do that too. When going for your 10, remember it doesn't have to be some HUGE change....up your speed by 0.1 or 0.2 at first. You'll notice there isn't THAT much difference between running 6.0 and 6.1 for a minute. Then slowly keep increasing it 0.1. I've done that to the point that my high point "used" to be 8.0. Never thought I'd be able to do that, but I could! Now, I'm starting over again and high point is at 7.0 and I'm dying by then!! Hope that helps. Suzanne

I know it is truth because many times I have been dying on minute 17th of my cardio and have thought:"I'm going to have to stop any minute now". But then, I think of that phrase and I think: "Well, I'm going to finish this no matter what!" and... I DO! Crucky

yes, I can said something one this subject, I thought I pushed til I couldn't go anymore. then after watching the DVD BFL set I found that you don't stop when it gets hard, you start to push when it gets hard. that's the beginning of hitting your 10's so here are 2 examples for you. 1. Run/jog/walk/ outside or on treadmill. Ok you are on the highesh incline you can handle and you have 5 minutes left for your workout, you are dog tired and just can't do anymore, it's time to slow down or even stop. that's the moment you tell yourself, ok, now it's time to hiit my 10's and you do a little bit more, run to the next light pole, or pick up your speed or raise the incline for just one minute, you can count to yourself, cout to 60, even if you count fast you did more then you did the time before. example 2. you lifting wts, bench press, you are lifting 35 lbs and you are on #6 of 8 and can't go anymore, push only 2 more, now rest and pick up a little heavier and do 6 , that 6 should make your arms feel like they are going to fall off. that's pushing to hiit a 10. Now go GET*HER*DONE!! Linda

There's a point after it gets really hard that I go into a "zone", its almost as if you leave your body. (I know that sounds very silly, but its true.) Breathing is VERY important. You can overcome a lot with good rhythmic breathing. You may find that if you don't cut it off too early that you'll hit that "zone" and you hardly know anything until that minute is over. Try concentrating on the breathing. WBG

I always have a mental race going on during the last 2 minutes - there's a commentator and everything. Want I don't want to have happen is for the commentator to have to say that 'Liz Horner, mega-athlete' has dropped out of the race, with only 60 seconds to go! Yup, it's a little crazy, but I beat myself up a bit when I think I have to stop. I'm mentally saying to myself 'Come on, you don't think you can do 60 seconds?! Is that what you came here to do?!' The answer is always, yes I can do 45 seconds (because by the time I've said the first sentence, I'm 15 seconds into the last minute!) and no, I didn't come here to quit! Yup, I'm a little looney - but hitting 13.5 on my 10 these days!!

Body for Life Forum Message by Reagiesmom (480 posts) at 07:51 PM:
You have to make yourself do it. Even if you think you can't. For exampkle I thought I couldnt run at 10 mph. Why? Probably just coz its the highest setting on my treadmill. But I was running at 9.0 for my 10, so O started doing the last 10 seconds at 10., then 15 seconds, etc. If I felt like I wan gonna throw up I would stop. Think of it this way: you can handle ANYTHING for 10 seconds, right.... then 15.... 20.... Now I can do it for a minute. The worst that can happen is you have to press that big red STOP sign.So what?? JUST DO IT!!!!

Body for Life Forum Message by Gtnskinee (37 posts) at 09:35 PM:
Good point, Kerry, about breathing and getting in the zone. When I was having my second baby and went to Lamaze classes that is what we learned... to breath and concentrate on some focal point. I keep going back to that when I am on the treadmill. It's almost like self hypnosis. You can actually block out the pain and fatigue. Then try it without the breathing and concentration. You won't get nearly as far. Kathy

Thread: Protein portions (74 Views)

Body for Life Forum Message by Fluoro Crucky (176 posts) at 12:13 PM: Protein portions
I keep on wondering whether I am having the right amount of protein for each one of my meals. I have read that the daily amount of grams of protein should be the same as the weight in pounds you want to be. That is about 120 grams However, this is pretty confusing because the BFL books says about 2-3 oz of protein a meal (I guess that 2 oz for women and 3 oz for men). If we have to have 6 meals a day and you have to have 2 oz a meal, that works out 12 oz of protein, which is 360 grams of protein a day, that's a big difference! What do you guys, think? What about the carbohydrate intake? The size of your fist six times a day or a bit less at snack time? Crucky

Body for Life Forum Message by solocamguy (17 posts) at 12:32 PM:
I try to keep the protein to about 20-25 grams a meal , for a total of 120-150 a day. Snack time ? whats that? are you saying one of your six meals is a snack ? then keep it the same palm/fist size, or use a RTD or a protein bar. thats what I do 2 meals a day. They are premeasured and perfect balance that you are lokking for.

Body for Life Forum Message by J-Dub (298 posts) at 12:33 PM:
2-3oz seems awfully small... I eat 4-5oz of protein per meal. Besides, I don't remember (nor can I find) where it says 2-3oz in BFL.. I'm looking at where it says the size of your palm. That's certainly more than 2-3oz for most people! I'm not sure where you're getting 360 grams of protein at 2-3oz, either. For example, 5 oz of chicken is 24g of protein. If I eat 5oz of chicken at each of 6 meals (I don't do this, it's just an example, lol), that comes out to 144g protein.

Body for Life Forum Message by georgiawendy (385 posts) at 12:48 PM:
Are you possibly getting grams and calories mixed up? If you eat 120 gm of protein a day split between six meals, then that is 600 calories worth of protein per day. There are 5 calories per gram of protein and/or carb, and 9 calories per gram of fat. You don't have to get this technical if you use the BFL palm/fist method for each of your six meals, but I just wanted to let you know the math behind it.

Body for Life Forum Message by Fluoro Crucky (176 posts) at 01:36 PM:
OMG! I have been doing all this wrong all the way! For some reason I just thought: 120 grams of chicken is 120 grams of protein, 120 grams of beef is 120 grams of protein! I feel sooooo stupid!!!!!!!! I have just printed the grams of protein in 0z for chicken, beef, etc... and they seem to be different from site to site. Any suggestions where I can find a reliable list? Crucky

Body for Life Forum Message by J-Dub (298 posts) at 01:39 PM:
Ah, don't feel stupid. I think we all blank on some stuff from time to time. :) I would recommend Corinne Netzer's book of calorie counts, or use fitday.com. It's all going to be averages anyway, so it doesn't have to be exact, but those are both good choices.

Thread: Oatmeal/Egg White Pancake Question (122 Views)

Body for Life Forum Message by raindrop (26 posts) at 01:32 PM: Oatmeal/Egg White Pancake Question
I've usually had 3 egg whites (boiled) and 1/3 cup of oatmeal as my second meal of the day. I just tried the oatmeal pancake the other day and what a GREAT way to change things up, but I have a couple of questions. I'm using 4 egg whites and 1/3 cup of oatmeal blended and cooked. Last time I added one scoop of chocolate protein powder to this and I really liked it. I can't remember if I read someone adding protein powder to their pancakes or not. If so, is this the right amount? Seems to make three large pancakes for me. Is this too much for one meal? Also, if used extremely sparingly, is sugar free syrup allowed? If not, I'll just add a little "equal" to the pancakes. Thanks for any comments.

Body for Life Forum Message by nola (82 posts) at 02:38 PM:
This does not exactly answer your question, but.... I made them from the EFL cookbook this morning...the book says this is 2 servings (but the book's serving sizes are kind of big and confusing...you're supposed to adjust your serving size to YOUR palm/fist size). It was 6 egg whites, 1 cup of oatmeal, 1 cup of cottage cheese, 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla and I don't remember how much Splenda it called for but I used 4 packets. It made 12 medium sized pancakes, which we had with Mrs Butterworth's Sugar Free Syrup. I had 3 and my kids ate the rest, so it ended up being 3 servings for us. I was surprised, but the kids absolutely LOVED them...and they are used to eating Toaster Strudels in the morning! ~Eileen

Body for Life Forum Message by solocamguy (17 posts) at 03:02 PM:
The recipe I have is for 1 serving here it is : 1/3 C cottage cheese, 1/3 C oatmeal, 2 egg whites , dash of cinnamon , 1 pack equal (optional) This will make three 4 inch pancakes but two seem to be enough , I top them with sugar free syrup, I also add a little water to the mix sometimes it is a little to thick. I got this recipe from the BFL guestbook, I think these are better than regular pancakes. Enjoy , Tony (C7W4D22)

Body for Life Forum Message by nola (82 posts) at 03:56 PM:

I don't make them with egg whites. I just mix cottage cheese, water and oatmeal and my kids love them too. The recipe above, do you know the nutritional facts (cal. per serving, etc) for it?

Body for Life Forum Message by Buffy-the-FatLayer-Slayer (63 posts) at 05:54 PM:
Stupid question here...do you put all that in a blender or just mix it up?

Body for Life Forum Message by raindrop (26 posts) at 06:34 PM:
Thanks so much for your comments. I agree most of the recipes I see use the cottage cheese. I don't do cottage cheese (it's a mind thing....I can't help it). Even if it is "hidden" in the pancakes. Since it is basically a protein source, and I add the protein powder, I can do without it. I'm sure it must make a difference in the texture though, but I'm all for taste and not texture. Glad to hear that the s/f syrup is ok (at proper portions). Buffy, not a stupid question. I use my "magic bullet" (blender) to mix the ingredients. It takes a little more time with the egg whites as the only "liquid", but it works. I think it would work just fine mixing it with a spoon, as long as you get the protein powder mixed in well. Then again, if you use the other recipe with the cottage cheese, it probably mixes just fine with a spoon. Thanks again. Rhonda

Many people don’t realize this but ibuprofen is one of the best anti-inflammatory drugs on the market. It is also very innocuous. It has better inflammatory affects than prescription anti-inflammatory drugs like Celebrex. If you take 200 to 400mg of IBU every 4 hours (MAX is 3200mg in one day) you can really tell a difference and will be able to move around much better. It does not interfere with muscle growth either. On lower body days I take a dose before and after my lifts. This helps the next morning when I am trying to get out of bed. If the soreness gets really bad give it a try.

this is a huge set back to me. I am so ill, my fever has been 102 all day. Looks like im going to be sick for atleaset a week. Any words of encouragement or advice? Will not lifting weights for a week really be a huge setback? Im so dissapointed and of course..really miserable, this just stinks :(

I am sorry you have the flu. I've been feeling sick as well for the past few days and have missed some workouts. I think the whole point here is that as everyone will say, this is body for LIFE. 12 weeks is just an increment of time of that... there will always be sickness and injury, so you have to stick to what you can stick to (nutrition, water) and then pick up where you left off. It's not a setback, but part of the process...

I am so sorry you are sick - that stinks! You will be just fine though. I've read before that something like 80% of the success of this program comes from proper nutrition, so do your best to eat clean and get you water and you should be just fine. Hope you are feeling well again soon!

My husband is about to start the challange very soon. I received my EAS magaizine and read a man in there "on the BFL" program eating 2400 calories a day. then 440 calories after the 10 weeks. I thought it was approx. 15-1800 calorie diet.???? I know its not a count caloire type of program, but I want to do it right for my husband, i will cooking all the meals for him. Do i jsut stay at the palm of your hand method??? Anyway, just don't want him to put on fat. He is lean, but tends to get a slight belly. hes about 18% bf. tahnks, PLEASE RESPOND< IF YOU HAVE ANY FEEDABCK roe

Body for Life Forum Message by shkelly (223 posts) at 05:13 PM:
It sounds like the guy from the magazine went through a MAJOR bulking phase and then cut back to the extreme the last two weeks to shed the fat. I wouldn't recommend that though. This is not a calorie specific diet so sticking with the palm fist size is ideal. If you need/want to figure out the calories as well then I suggest you go to hussman.org and figure out his BMR(basal metabolic rate). It will give you a good idea of what his calories should be based on his specific fat loss goals. Take the caloric number and divide it by 6 and that will give you how much he needs to comsume each meal and remember BFL is about 40/40/20 so each meal should have 40% carbs, 40% protein and 20% fat. Now this seems like the hard way to do it to me though. Maybe figure it out once so when he needs a bar or shake or something you will know what to look for. I have no idea if this helps or not. If you need any help figuring it all out let me know, I will gladly help in any way I can!! Shelly =)

Come on guys!
It's only confusing... because you are making it confusing. It is like using several cook books. When baking a cake, would you get out several books? How about when planning a road trip, do you pull out several different road maps???  My guess is No! It would get very confusing right?! So why do it now?

The Man? What man? Bill Phillips? If you want to do the BFL Program. Read the BFL book and stick with it. Don't read or listen to this man or a man!

I was far from thrilled when the Women's BFL was published. The original program worked for the women inside the covers of both books and 10,000's of others. Some of the women from the female edition had results. But the majority found it confusing. Surprised?

My suggestion is simple. Read the original BFL book and do it. Everyone becomes so confused when they read & try to combine different authors. Don't do it. BFL is not easy.  But it is very simple. Don't confuse yourself with countining calories, #s & %'s it is not required. In fact it is confusing. When people become confused, they lose focus, confidence and motivation = minmal results and they soon drop out.

Once again gang...read BFL. Do BFL. Not only see, but feel the results!

Hope this helps a little Roe.
Best to you & your husband,

 JerryBraam

Believe me Jerry I am a stick by BFL 100% kind of girl!! I did for me figure out what I needed as far as bars and shake go though. I wanted to KNOW what I was looking for and I actually think its WAY harder for men to find a shake or bar with proper nutrition aside from myoplex. If you want amazing results, it's true, stick with BFL 100% just as BP layed out in the book!! Thanks Jerry for making it clear! Shelly =)

AND, Roe, sticking with BFL, by the book, would mean using the palm of the hand and fist method with good quality proteins and low glycemic carbs, for six meals a day. The calories will take care of themselves, though if hubbie is interested in how calories work, there is an excellent dissertation on the topic on the hussmanfitness website. First, though, he needs to read the book.

I love the BFL program, but when i get a spokes PERSON, like Abb Ansley resonding in a sense the calories are NOT matvches the BOOK> Im going to get confused, as well as , everyone else trying to "stick tot he plan." Correct? I just want to do whats right. i follow the book, reliously as a matter of fact. But im sorry AGAIN... The BFL book stated, then magazines, then other supporting books there after ITS GOING TO GET CONFUSING MR. JERRY!!! many blessings, Roe

Hello Roe,

Your question prompts me to ask a few of my own.

You stated in your post that "I thought it was approx. 15-1800 calorie diet.????"

I'm curious. Where did you get that impression? Where does the BFL book say anything about a "set amount" of calories. Where does it say "diet" using the connotation you imply? And who would ever recommend a "440" calorie daily intake for any man -- or woman -- who trains rigorously? Does that even make sense?

I agree with Jerry. Why over complicate it? The book will take you far. It has for many others, it will for you and your husband. Make no mistake, the principles of BFL respect the natural processes of the human body and its techniques are based upon sound principles of mindset, nutrition, and exercise physiology.

My best to you and your husband. May you meet -- and exceed -- your goals.

Yours in fitness, Larry

Larry, Actually, in the book it states the meals are approx. 1500-1800 calories. The "Eating for life" book. I am sorry, I misprinted, it was 4400 calories that Abb ate, not 440 calories, Sorry, about that.

Body for Life Forum Message by Roe (56 posts) at 06:33 PM:
Larry, I don't consider my program a diet. However, diet means a'controlled intake of food.' As far as calories, it is controlled by 1500-1800 calories per day. I always say... Its a life changing committment though. God bless you, Roe

Body for Life Forum Message by solocamguy (17 posts) at 06:33 PM:
Roe, Like Mike said , be sure your husband has read the book. He needs to know why he is doing things and what they will accomplish by following the book. I am on my 7th challenge and have never did anything but palm/fist portion size, its to easy. I know there are a lot of confusing articles out there but I always come back to my bible and that is the book that Bill Phillips wrote. It is the best and thats it, Roe palm/fist and you will be fine and your husband will do great. Stay Strong Tony

Abb is actually considered a Hard Gainer! Meaning it is very difficult for him to gain weight.

We were roommates at last week's BFL Expo and we spent almost 48 hours talking about such topics (among others).  He did what is called the Anabolic Burst Diet. VERY,  VERY different from BFL and complicated. He also used several different supplements like Lacto Bacillus, GABA and large amounts of L-Glutamine, etc... Abb is a unique body type & metabolism. Only a very few are able to follow the program he did with the results he had. With almost no cardio...

With that in mind...
What is another question we could help anyone with.

Jerry, My POINT exactly. here is man who represents the BODY FOR LIFE and doesn't even follow the progrram pertaing to the book. its jsut a little misleading or misdirected. Correct me if Im wrong?? please! AND THIS IS COMING FROM THE CO-CHAMO HIMSELF."" I get the magzines BFL for life related, I get the cook books, BFL realted, I get the guideline books, BFL realated and it differs from time to time. Now, one thing i don't do, is purchase a Rachel ray and come hear with an argumen. THIS IS BODY FOR LIFE MATERIAL. im sorry.... but who wouldn't be a little confused a bit. let me know if I can help you with anything else. Oh page 54 in EAS was the article.

Body for Life Forum Message by J-Dub (298 posts) at 08:17 PM:
Roe, you have to understand that the book and EAS come from two different places right now. The book was written, as you know, by Bill Phillips, and at the time he owned EAS. He doesn't anymore, and EAS owns the rights to BFL and therefore can tweak it and promote it any way they want. But the best idea for ANY PROGRAM is to go back to the basics, which is the book, as written and initially intended to be followed by its creator, and for the time being, ignoring advice that comes from other sources, even when one of those sources is EAS. Much less confusing that way!

Roe: You mentioned that you were going to make his meals for him. I don't know if this makes a difference, and those wiser than myself please correct me, but if your hand (palm and fist) is much smaller than your husband's would he still be getting the right portion for his body? I'm assuming that he would not be. Brian

Body for Life Forum Message by Roe (56 posts) at 09:29 PM:
Brian, Oh, absolutely. i took in to consdieration that his hand is much bigger than mine. I do that now when I cook for him of course. We ahve been married for 8 years and I ahve his portions down pretty well. its just time new prograsm for him that I want to do right. I really believe he is going to get awesome results. He looks so good right now as it is, but this program will really get him cut. hes never be able to get a 6 pack. I garenteed him , if he follows the book exactly, I know its possible. So thats kinda where we are at in a nut shell. I have always beleived in the BFl "book" and continue to do so. anyway, good luck to you, and God bless you.roe

Remember the "future vision" not the miniscule details. There are three types of people endomorph, ectomorph, and mesomorph. Myself and it appears ab are both ectomorph and I might be more of an ecto then him and I am going to look at that nutrition plan he is using. Following the book to the T... what does that mean anyways? Does that mean if I eat every 3 hours and 10 minutes I am not following the book to a T. Or if I eat one day within in 1 hour I am not following the book to the T. What if for cardio I do kickboxing or jump rope looks like I have not followed the book to the T then and that means I cam not a supporter of BFL? Of course not!

Body for Life Forum Message by eSteve (157 posts) at 10:19 PM:
Hey guys! I guess you have to look into more than just the numbers. I haven't seen the article you are referring to, but you should make sure you are looking at a similar body-type and activity level when you are narrowing down one factor such as caloric intake. It can be confusing to see people follow different approaches and all succeed. This in some sense should tell you that consistency and intensity are possibly more important than which exercise, 20 or 30 mins of cardio, or exactly how many calories to consume. To me, 2400 calories does seem a bit high if you are trying to lose fat and gain muscle, but not if you are a competitive runner or cyclist -- or someone who wants to build muscle and is a 'hardgainer' -- so you have to really look at the context of it all and ensure you are comparing apples to apples. If you are confused about why Abb didn't follow the same program as someone else, look at the before photos and ensure they are coming from the same place. It wouldn't make sense for someone who is trying to gain muscle to try and create a caloric deficit with less calories and more cardio, would it? Make sure before you get too overwhelmed with different variations of programs from one champion to another, it's important to realize that the BFL program is meant as a FRAMEWORK. It was created for people who need to be told exactly what to do. If you believe that doing 21 minutes of cardio instead of 20 is wrong because it is not in the book - you are taking things too literally. There is no magic here. The book provides structure for those who need it...a very good thing. Don't start questioning the validity of the book if it doesn't match what another champion may have done. If anything it should tell you that hard work and dedication might be more important than the EXACT program you follow. You can choose to follow a modified BFL program based on one success story, or just stick to what thousands have done and succeeded with - the book itself... Good luck! -Steve

Body for Life Forum Message by WorkInProgress (181 posts) at 07:13 PM: week 3 photos - need some motivation!

hey everyone - well, here I am in week 3 of Challenge 2, and I seem to be struggling with staying on track! I REALLY want to reach 16% bodyfat this year, but I'm struggling with the food at the moment.

I know I've got some weak points in my current habits:

1. I'm not completing my journal and plan everynight (weekends are the hardest!).
2. I'm not always doing my workouts in the morning (I did in C1), and it's always my runs. I'm training for a 1/2 marathon (Feb 19th) and my long runs tend to happen at night (around 8pm) to avoid the mid-day heat.
3. I haven't had my bodyfat measured since starting C2, I think I'm scared of what it is!
5. I'm struggling to get all my water in on the weekends (weekdays aren't a problem, I think that's because there's more structure to my day then)

So, now that I've confessed my weaknesses, maybe you guys could help me by kicking my ass and telling me to get focused to get this done!?

Thanks guys, you rock!

I generally don't workout in the morning either, I go to the gym after work durning the week. So I had to post because I have I am feeling down and guilty for the weekend. I have turned a free day into a two day splurge and am feeling very yucky. I was out of town visiting friends and I started the day good but by the end was not eating anything I should have been. I know I just need to pick myself back up and move on. A little side step doesn't have to ruin the whole dance. I guess I am especially disappointed in myself because I had done so well up to this point. I feel like I have ruined any progress I have made. Is that possible in two days? Probably not. I guess I shouldn't be so hard on myself. Monday is a new day, a clean day.......I won't get on the scale. So a goal for myself this week is to realize I am human and one, two, even three mistakes doesn't make me any less of a person. I am okay just being me.

Body for Life Forum Message by WorkInProgress (181 posts) at 08:04 PM:
oh my god - you must have entered my brain! I totally feel the same today. Although I didn't do lots of damage over the weekend, there was a slight 'sidestep' yesterday and today i'm really beating myself up over it. Let's pick ourselves up, drink tons of water and eat clean today, we can do this!

Thanks for the support! I know we must do it so we don't feel like this again. Maybe these days are good to remind us how we don't want to turn back from our challenge. So a toast of water to celebrate a new day! I forgive myself and I can move on.

Don't worry about it. Just start fresh tomorrow. Remember this is a long term endevour and one or two days means NOTHING if you keep on the right track from here on out. And yes this will happen again most likely.. but all you have to do is forget what is in the past and move on. I had a great week this week and despite that "high" I had a free freeday so to speak. Oh well. Just more energy to kick that HIIT's bum tomorrow!!! Focus on the benefits of this program and the difference it will make in the long term instead of feeling crappy about the weekend right now!! ONE DAY AT A TIME YOU ARE MAKING IT!! GOOD LUCK!!
