For myself I do spinning Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturday mornings. I love it, and it's a hell of a workout. I also joined a local basketball team. I used to do the treadmill but it got boring to me. I've been doing spinning for about 6 months now and I love it. I started the challenge 3 weeks ago and I'll be posting pictures next week.

I am changing my cardio about whenever it is to windy! I mean I don't have a treadmill:( but I try my hardest!!!! I do Tae Bo when it gets windy out here in CA( near mexico. )

I wish my gym offered a spinning class. I understand it's a great cardio workout. I change mine up about every three weeks.....when it get's to be second nature and the effort is somewhat less I switch machines. I'll be happy when it's spring time and I get back to the track for cardio.

what site ar you using hon?? I've been using the Navy one ..it seems that the % goes down in direct relation to the waist & hip #'s .. Now being that you're in the under 20% range & that you're already so damn tiny it may be hard to get an accurate measure for you.. I think like say the calipers may be the way to get a real idea of where you are. Take care

Muscle Armour is out of our price range. One jar has two weeks supply if taken as directed. The cost??? $99 @ GNC or $78 at Vitammin Shoppe. Personally, I think whatever results you may get from Muscle Armour, no matter how fantastic, are temporary. You can't take it forever.

Yeah, we all want to look as good as Cookie, so I'm sollowing her plan! DANG she's amazing! I take CLA 3x a day, ThermoDynamX 2x a day, L-Glutamine, mulit-vit, and always have myoplex lite shakes and bars on hand to have for a couple of meals. I always have the bars in my purse and car because you just never know... But do take Pan's advice- the BFL hotline or the EAS # will help you out and they are the pros!

Hello, I am doing the challenge for the first time (started yesterday) and am in need of losing a min. of 30lbs of fat. What would your recommendations be regarding supplements? CLA? Betagen? I have serious issues with ingesting things that taste nasty and just can't get them down so I am worried that it will hinder my success.. suggestions? comments? I welcome ALL advice.. thank you!

Body for Life Forum Message by sixpack (113 posts) at 12:37 PM:
I have used betagen but I can't say that it is the best tasting stuff. I feel like it has helped with the muscle building which of course helps with the fat loss. I don't know about CLA but I do know that just the BFL diet and Exercise can get you to the 30 lbs you are looking for.

Body for Life Forum Message by losingit (9 posts) at 12:42 PM:
You can lose 30g of fat by just increasing your protein intake, eating v.frequently and working your arse off down the gym six times a week. If you had 100% discipline in this it should come off quite quickly. I personally take myoplex original and diet bars, but thats more for convenience. Good Luck. Chris

Body for Life Forum Message by Janie (39 posts) at 12:51 PM:
I agree with what sixpack and losingit say, they're right on. I take CLA and just started Thermo DynamX (EAS)which is a serious fat burner. And the Myoplex lite bars and shakes are great! Betgen will be needed if you're really wanting to build muscle- but be aware that any creatine supplement will make you gain the first week while you're loading. Don't panic though, it's just hydrating your muscles. Good luck!

Well another update. I went 2.75 miles in this 20 min HIIT. I can see that the closer you get to this the harder it is. It kinda seems like breaking the sound barrier and how it takes so much more power to break that barrier. I pushed 12 as my high point but it seems to be easier when you run all out. I am just going to be pushing my 9 up more each time. Congratulation to Reagiesmom for pulling into the lead. She is earning every inch of those 3 miles. So close!

Body for Life Forum Message by Janie (39 posts) at 12:43 PM:
Okay Lese, don't feel bad! These guys blow me away! My first high point on the treadmill was 4.5 at 0% incline, and in only 9 weeks I've worked up to 6.4 at a 3.5% incline for a high point- and it takes everything I've got! Today I left out hte incline and will definitely be able to go faster that way- but good grief?! 9's and 10's?! Maybe I'm using a different treadmill? You guys are SO inspirational! I'll have to check the distance Wed, it may be a better way to gauge success.

Body for Life Forum Message by Reagiesmom (550 posts) at 02:14 PM:
Janie that is an incredible improvement. Keep in m ind that using the incline definately makes it harder.... I never use it coz i am going for distance and speed. 6.4 at an incline ain't easy.... keep pushin' SIXPACK you're gonna catch me before I get back from Myrtle.... :) Kelli PS I am STILL so sore.....

Hi sandiepooh! I can certainly understand how daunting it seems when you're looking at losing a large amount of weight. but I don't think there's a better lifestyle than BFL for dropping weight and keeping it off. During my BFL journey I've gone through a good deal of adversity and medical issues but I've still had great success overall. If this would have been a diet as opposed to a lifestyle I would have bailed out of it a long time ago... And when you know it's going to take multiple challenges to achieve your goals its crucial that you enjoy the process as well as feel confident that BFL will work. I want to encourage you to stay the course because you will have ups and downs. But once you really get used to living this way you can never go back... Frankly, I've never enjoyed life more than when I'm following BFL 100%. Despite what many people think, I feel deprived when I'm NOT following BFL! So welcome to Tracker... I know you're going to do great! Jim

Body for Life Forum Message by sandiepooh (13 posts) at 03:54 AM:
Thanks Jim, I surely needed that. I bought a new scale yesterday and this morning I am so discouraged. I am reminding myself its only my second week and 2 lbs lost is ok. Because 2lbs a week is healthy. Despite the pain that I am suffering because of my illness, I get up at 4:30 every morning go to the gym then go to work. This particular ailment I have causes so much discomfort and looking at the scale this morning didn't help. I should have waited til Monday next week. But oh well. I have to keep trying. I see results on my body just not on the scale. Unfortunately, the meds I am on causes me to gain a tremedous amount of weight but I need these meds or I will die. I almost died last year I don't want to go through that again. Thank you all for your support. Sometimes our bodies just don't want to do right. But I am going to keep trudging on or try even with tears in my eyes. Thanks again.

Well I couldn't go with the new car but I did somethings right. I took our house hostage and put a note on the door that she could not come into the house and would have to call my cell phone for further instructions. (she was thinking that she might be getting some new furniture for her anniversary) When she called I sent her on the some errends to get a few items that would get her thinking about what might be coming that evening, like candles, massage oil, bubbly cider, and some unmentionalbles that were all the ransom for the house. Then she had to call back when that was complete for further instructions at which time I told to come back to the house. In the mean time I packed a bag for the overnight stay and all other needed items and hide them in the garage. When she got home I snuck out the back door and into the garage and loaded the bags into the car and then hide in the truck of the car. I told her on the phone that she could have her house back but that I was now taking her husband hostage and she would have to do everything I said to get me back. I had her drive to a truck stop and go inside and buy a couple of items while I got out of the trunk and hid around the cornor of the building. I directed back to the car by phone and then snuck up behind and put on a very soft blindfold and told her that she was now my hostage. I drove her to the Anniversary Inn and used the rose pedal idea and the pampering her with several massages and always was the gentleman with doors and such. She just loved every minute of it. While we were gone my Dad came to our house and set up the bed that she thought she was getting as the first present and so when we got home last night this new bed was set up in the room and she just loved that extra suprise. The weekend was just like a second honeymoon, I had a great time pampering her. She told me that she told her boss at work and he said "That is the kind of husband that makes the rest of us look bad" Thank you for all the great ideas. They worked beautifully.

Hey Gang, My program is still going full speed ahead. My TOM is almost gone and I bet I'll see some weight loss from last week in the next day or two. My husband has been really ill and I took yesterday off to go with him to the hospital and to see several doctors. We are worried that his cancer may have spread. This is a very difficult time for the both of us. As he was a Corpman in the Marines, he's already diagnosed himself, and now he's worried sick. We don't see another doctor until next Monday afternoon. With EMT Class, a Search & Rescue test coming up in two weeks, my 30th birthday in two weeks, I'm just overwhelmed. I can honestly say that BFL is the only thing solid in my life right now. THANK YOU ALL so much for your support. I have been on this forum since Janauary of last year, and I don't know what I'd do without the friends I've met here in Cyberspace. I am still working on an Indiana Get together too, so I hope to meet some tracker friends in March for our first gathering. Love you guys, Danielle

They do make their smoothies with sherbert but they will hold it and only use fruit and juice, which is what I order when I go. I add a protein blast and drink it while I shop on my shopping nights. works for me. keep in mind too, a lot of the sugar you're seeing there is complex sugar.

I would vote that it appears to be carb heavy.. so you might want to pair it with a protein of some sort... Shoot for things that look fairly balanced between carbs and protein.

It's on the *new* approved food list as long as it's plain, but I imagine with this (I recently purchased some) since there is virtually no fat and not sugar that if you pair it with a protein this could be your carb. BUT I don't know about serving size. One bag, I believe, equals 4 cups popped. Not sure if that helps. I too was wondering about it and was told what I just wrote above. Hopefully there is a BFL Expert out there somewhere who can answer better than I can.

I picked this up at an import store- World Market. The brand is Mestemacher- it's German, and it's made with whole grains as opposed to flour. It's very dense and has much more flavor than Ez. 4:9 bread- a very nutty taste. Also has 6 gr. of fiber per serving! A great carb choice!

Is there a new BFL maintenance program? I dont want to be doing challange after challange after challange. How can I just maintain? Thanks in advance

Well, it is called Body for LIFE. You may find that you do not to be as strict with your nutrition or maybe not as intense with your workout, but you can't just slip back into your old habbits either. Bill once said you have to focus nd fight to get the body you want and then focus and fight even harder to keep it. Remember its not a diet, its a lifestyle.

Hogken, it won't be so tough for you. You are not overweight so you don't have issues with the diet. You can add to it a bit. But to maintain the athletic physique you will want to keep that balance of protein and good carbs. You can look and feel like an athlete with 30 - 45 minutes a day/ 6 day s a week. Now how bad is that?!!!! You can look like that until you die too. So why would you want to quit? You'll see, you might be able to get it down to 5 days a week or even 4. But you will want to follow these principles for life.

Another idea would be to work in some exercises on machines and then mix them up. I never do my workouts in the same order. I was finding that by the end of my UBWO I was weak so I do the exercises in a different order each time so I don't wimp out on the same body part all the time. If your gym has machines and free weights, I would try to use both. Here is an example of what I have done for UBWO: Bicep curls on the pully Tricep Kickbacks Plate Loaded Row Shoulder Presses Chest Press on the Smith This way you don't monopolize the bench and weights all the time.

Body for Life Forum Message by Reagiesmom (550 posts) at 09:44 AM:
I am flexible- my gym has 2 benches and one or two sets of each dumbell. Then they have a whole other area with the same stuff, that doesnt really make sense coz I'm not gonna go to a whole other area of the gym just coz the 20's on my side are taken. I try to go to hte gym when it isn't busy, and I do machines if availible, and usually work my dumbell stuff in when I notice they are not being used. I switch dunbells during the 1 minute rest. But I agree- if it isnt busy AT ALL, I will take all of the ones I need to the bench. Then I just make sure I am aware of what others are doing and what they need.

Have you tried doing one legged squats? I do these with the dumbell. Stand in front of a couch or something fairly level with your knee. Facing the same way as the couch. Raise one leg behind you and rest it on the couch (or chair) and proceed with your squat, holding your dumbell on the same side as the leg you are working. I find these more effective with the dumbells. You can also do one legged standing lifts. Jennifer

for those of you that work out at home with limited equip. do you feel you are getting the most out of it? I have dumbells up to 25lbs and my treadmill and this is all I use, so doing my heavy weight squats I know I could do more than 50lbs if I had a squat bar but I cant afford a gym membership, plus I cant do leg press, leg curls or extentions at home, all great for the legs, so I'm worried my progress is going to flat line anyone else???

I do all my workouts at home! I have adjustable dumbbells, weight bar and weights, weight bench, and stationary bike. I bought all my equipment at Wal-Mart for a very reasonable price. I think I get a great workout at home. For my legs, I do squats with dumbbells, lunges with dumbells, deadlifts with dumbells, and calf raises using dumbbells. Best wishes too you!!!! I'm in the same situation. It's just me, a used set of weights, an old flimsy bench, and a now antique Nordic Track in the basement. My visiting workout "partner" is usually one of our 3 cats that comes downstairs to use the litter boxes. Given the limitations, I feel I am getting the most out of what I have. Sometimes instead of barbell squats, I'll just squat down and walk across the floor for sets. My quads are pretty sore the next day. I also do bench dips for triceps and push-ups for biceps. I'm maxed out on weight for calf-raises and will often do them without weights until a good burn sets in. But yes, I have concerns about flatlining. What keeps me going now in light of that concern is the reality that using the time and equipment regularly and intensely (per BFL) is better than not using it at all. Staying the course, regardless of limitations works for me. Jay~~

Body for Life Forum Message by Framed (154 posts) at 01:30 PM:
I do my workouts at home too. Basically using dumb bells. You can tax your legs by doing each exercise on one leg at a time. I also do an extended count on squats and lunges which KILLS me. This is how you do it. You go down for a count, come up ONLY HALF WAY, hold it, go back down, then come up to finish. That half way and holding really taxes the muscle. It slows things down. But you can really CONTROL the working of those muscles. A lot of times I like to use Chris's Audio time keeper. But on these, I'm taking much longer on each count. Now I only need to do this if the weight isn't heavy enough to do the trick by that second 12 count. Try it. Especially on squats and lunges!

I am in the same situation as the rest of you. I have 150lbs of weights with dumbell, barbell, a flat bench that inclines, and one of those big exercise balls. I do alot of my UBWO on the ball, I got this idea from a trainer at Pure Fitness he was actually pretty good and listened to what I wanted to do and what my goals were, at that time. I told him I wanted to beable to work out at home if needed and he based the whole workout around my exercise ball and flat bench. Lifting while sitting on the ball is awesome it forces you to use your muscles to keep your balance and hold up your own weight. You get a real "core" workout. My 2 year old son sometimes joins me on my workouts, we bought him some little 1lbs dumbbells and he lifts them like dad, it's the cutest thing I have ever seen. He also likes to lay down and do bench presses on the bench while I'm doing my one arm rows, it's so funny but he loves it! I need to have my wife take a picture sometime.

BGrego...even 1 lb weights are too heavy for your 2 year old. Can you get some reallllllllly light weights? It isn't good for little ones to lift weights. So go for something that looks the same but isn't that heavy. My little guys wants to lift with me too. I bought some TEENY weights so he doesn't hurt himself. he is 8...but even the 3 lbs would be tough on his little body if he does all the sets we do.

My shoulder makes a crunchy or cracking sound when I do shoulder presses. Doesn't hurt. But it bugs me as I'm thinking I'm hurting myself. My hip crunches and cracks on some things too. do any of you have any experience with this? Am I hurting my joints? Or maybe I'm just kind of old.

I used to get the problem in my shoulder when I went swimming. It then also occured when doing dumbbell flies (this was a couple of years ago), but changing your technique can sometimes help (it did with me). You could inflame your joints if it doesn't stop soon. Cod liver oil could help.

Hot Body is stepping onto the Poop Deck! My two-month supply arrived yesterday, and I made a cup of tea - brewed for 2 minutes - as soon as I got home (which was late and I had just a half hour before I needed to be in bed). Nothing when I woke (the Smooth Move tea, which I usually steeped for 5 minutes, always produced something the next morning).

This morning, I took one Paranil, then did my cardio session, then took the fiber stuff. I blended it with 100% cran-apple juice, and I've got to say the worst part about that drink was having to down the juice. WOW! That stuff is SWEET! I haven't had fruit juice in forever, so it was a shocker.

Almost immediately, my stomach got bloated and I felt like it was expanding to twice its size. Pretty uncomfortable. It's passed now, though, so I'm simply waiting for my results! (Besides the massive gas, that is...)

I'm the type that can go camping for a week and never touch the shovel. I'm on day 5 of my cleanse. I started steeping my tea 2, 4, 5, and 9 minutes last night. I increased my fiber to 1 scoop on day 3. (by the way, I add my fiber to ruby red grapefruit crystal lite.......it's good/ok if you drink it fast). With the exception of a minor movement on day one (which I feel was probably my normal timing, and not the cleanse), I've had no progress. I'll increase the paranil to 4 tomorrow (according to directions) and possibly increase my fiber to 1.5 scoops. I hope that I don't gain 50 lbs. of fiber this week. (and yes, I'm drinking all my water) Waiting patiently........on the edge of my toilet seat.

Body for Life Forum Message by Flower (2350 posts) at 02:48 PM:
Yeah, silly Tracey here too. I might have the info in my brain but I sure the hell don't know what I'm doing. Suz - cutting up is usually done after a "bulk" of putting on muscle. Along with putting on the muscle, you've usually put on some fat with it. Cutting is cutting the fat from your body with the least amount of muscle loss as possible. This will allow all your hard earned muscle to be exposed. Norm - you'd basically embark on a good 12 week program with your food choices being the absolute cleanest possible. They would probably include proteins from chicken breast, white fish, whey, egg whites, limited carbs from brown rice, sweet potatoes, maybe oatmeal and green vegetables. Lots of water & cardio. As far as your ratios & calories are concerned, I don't know I'm having a big enough problem figuring out my own.

It simply takes time to recondition your behavior and replace old habits with better ones. To do so will require that you come to terms with any underlying issues that played a part in your weight problems to begin with. It's almost like a child learning to walk... You just accept that stumbling and falling is part of the process of learning to walk. But you don't even consider quitting because the alternative is not acceptable... Here's a little article you may want to read. http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/maia20.htm The bottom line is it dependends how sick you are. If you have a scratchy throat, runny nose ect you can continue exercising. If you have the flue or fever you shouldn't. Your immune system takes a beating when you work out hard. Eat well, drink a lot and get a lot of sleep till you feel better. Anyway, that's what I would do.And yes getting in shape is worth it. As soon as I would be feeling better I would get back to it. As Jim says above, hang in there and do your best. Cheers Pierre

Sometimes you just need to rest and recouperate! As hard as it may sound, listen to your body. If it's telling you STOP! I need some downtime, then give it some. And not just a day or two. You probably need a week. Get lots of rest, drink lots of water, eat really well- no immune system draining garbage food. This is your adversity. You can give up or go on. Just cuz you have to take a needed break doesn't mean you are failing. You'll come out stronger in the long run! What good is trudging on thru it all and ending up seriously ill and sidelined for a lengthy period of time? And I don't think you are whining. It's completely frustrating-I've been there too. Listen to your body. When you feel better you'll know how weak and tired you really were!

Couple of things, I had lost a few lbs of muscle and started to feel weak, so I increased my cals a bit and my weight still is coming off but my muscle loss stopped. Then again, I am not too comfortable with my bodyfat reading and my priority is to lose TONNAGE! LOL So I am not overly concerned with my muscle loss this challenge. first of all, the loss of muscle could be a change in the way you took you readings. I could take my readings 3 times and come up with 3 different amounts. so I wouldn't worry about it. I am 5'9" and I also wonder how small I can get. I have never been smaller than a 9, and I would give my eye teeth to be there again. Excellent Job Robin!
Great pics...

THAT... is exactly why it is a GREAT idea to hire and... pay for it in full, even before your starting date! This creates accountability. It made me even more determined to finish on a HighPoint!

It is one of the requirements I have before training someone. Before Photos. Knowing how essential taking photos are! An amazing motivational tool. I took "daily" front & back photos and made a flip movie for my website. This was an unbelievable motivator for me! Some lately have even made daily videos! How cool is that!!!

Thanks for sharing Robin,

 Jerry

Thread: Sailing through the storm... (54 Views)

Body for Life Forum Message by jshelton (1719 posts) at 01:40 AM: Sailing through the storm...
Hi gang! I wanted to touch base with you and let you know how things were going. I'm still having problems with my asthma but it's a lot better than it was last week. I decided to greatly increase the dosage on my cortisol medication to help fight the infection. My doctor has said that it wasn't necessary to do that, but I know that with this type of hormonal disorder that if I don't increase that medication an infection can last weeks or even months. My sleep cycle is still topsy-turvy, and I just don't know why that is, although over the years it's always been due to a hormonal imbalance. I still haven't been well enough to work out but I have made some progress in some key areas. I went to the lab and had my blood drawn a week ago so I should know what my hormone levels are at within a day or two. I managed to find all of my medical records and send them to the UCLA pituitary disorders clinic. I'll call them tomorrow and see how soon I can get in. My hope is that the chief neurosurgeon there will have the answers I need to get well and stay well... I also applied and was approved for refinancing my condo, which will provide me plenty of cash to see me through in case my disability benefits are interrupted. My concern was that if I waited to refinance until after benefits were stopped that I wouldn't be able to qualify. If that happened it would pretty much mean selling my condo and moving in with my Mom back in Texas. And a nice bonus is that I'll be able to help my Mom and stepdad buy a new house. It looks like I'll be able to pay for half of their house cash, which will make it a good investment for me and will help them out as well. I will also use some of that money to pay off disputed tax amounts to the IRS and then hire a tax person to get back what ever I am owed. I hate paying taxes that I know I don't owe but the stress of fighting it out is just too much right now. It looks like the increased medication along with the prednisone I took this weekend is doing the trick. My breathing is much better than it has been in weeks. I may ask my doctor to prescribe sleep medication, but my guess is that if a hormone level is off that as soon as it is corrected I won't have any problems with sleeping... So tomorrow I'm just going to show up at the gym... I want to just do one or two exercises and feel that I'm at least getting back on track slowly. Ideally, I'll continue to get better and correct any medication dosages if needed, and be ready to restart C5 next week. Although this has been a very rough time for me the last three weeks, a good thing is that I'm confident that if I can just be reasonably well , that I've got the motivation, determination, and passion to succeed... I've had several people wonder if my issue was depression, or if I had just lost my spark, or if I just wasn't excited about BFL... But the simple truth is I just sailed through a rough patch of water physically and emotionally due to illness and some other life challenges...and it's only a matter of time before I'm cruising full steam ahead again... I know in my heart I will never settle for less...no matter how many storms I encounter... I'm so grateful for my friends here... Especially during this time in my life - living alone with no family nearby and my former long-time friends having let me down... and actually I'm excited about the next few months. I'm confident I'll get the illness under control, and finally get down to my goal weight. And I look forward to seeing you on the cruise with the first draft of my book about coming back from chronic illness... Take care and keep on truckin'!!! Jim

My new treadmill is coming today im soo excited! Just for a little background..I used to run a lot when i was in highschool and college, it was a very big part of my life. But a few years ago during a highly stressful time in my life combined with diet pills, I had a HUGE panic attack while I was running and I thought I was having a heart attack and was rushed to the ER after my husband called 911, it was terrifying. I stopped excersizing becuase the fear of that happening again made me have a panic attack every time I tried to do cardio and the feeling of my heart speeding up and pounding harder reminded me of that panic feeling. I eventually developed such severe panic that i had trouble leaving my house. So for the last 5 weeks I have been battling through that fear on my elliptical machine (the first week i made my husband stay in the room with me in case I had a panic attack so I wouldn't be alone), I have weaned myself off of my anxiety medication through diet and excersize..and I am now going to run again for the first time in years and I am so excited to have defeated this horrible panic! I can't wait for my treadmill to be delivered! My husband and I are in this to look better and get healthy, but this step alone is already life changing. YAY!!!

Hey Laura, try taking L-Glutamine as a supplement. Your body's immune system gets taxed when you work out and this is supposed to help a lot. I read it in EAS's Leading Edge Mag last month and just started taking it myself.

What a bummer!! Only two weeks to go and I hurt my freakin' leg. I was running last week when I got this pain in my knee on the inside. I figured I could run it out and I did, but..... My ankle started to hurt later and I knew that I had twisted my fibula (had this condition before) so off I went to the chiropractor. He says I can walk but I really wanted to HIIT this hard with only two weeks to go. Oh well, nothing I can do about it at this point. Liquid?..Gas?? or SOLID???

Queen Mucca and her "Colon"-ists present the game show where the winner can go from 'worst to first' faster than you can say "gestaltive contraction!"

Okay contestants arm yourself with your favorite fiber, a little parasitic punch and a tempest in a teapot!!!

The first question....(and only question)...is...
Did your last stop in the powder room result in a Liquid...Gas...or SOLID???

You have 60 seconds to reply in detail and then you must "tag" the NEXT CONTESTANT to add to the thread......

OUR FIRST CONTESTANT IS.........Rie

You may begin!

BIG BULL you are on the clock... Well, what happen'd here was I was teachin' me some math when I had an urge from down under. Let's just say that something was reciprocatin' and it wasn't no fraction divis'n or anythin' mathematical like that!!! I high-tailed it to the restroom at "passing" period and I was in that zone you hear! Now I am a veteran courtesy flusher, so I had to remind myself to be patient on the flush! Well, what happen'd next was utter disappontment as my attempt was nuthin' more than one big shot of GAS!!! Funny thin' was that it was damn near as satisfyin' as the real thing....that is my story and i'm stickin' with it!!! BIG BULL sh*ttin' KITWHIT.......TAG..YOU'RE IT!!!!!!!!

But, I am on week 6 and I have GAS all the time. i felt so good yesterday, i was ready to run 5 miles. at a 9 minute pace!!! the all of a sudden, i lost it....I passed gas and kucky for me no one was around. Boy, I'm glad someone started this thread. That's why I jumped on the dr. natura band wagon because I wanted to get the plumbing cleaned out. I really thought something had died in there....I couldn't stand it let alone letting anyone else endure it.... Getting a good leg workout in when you have gas isn't any better than abs (especially when you have a trainer.) Really firming up the buttocks on leg day!!! I've heard that beano really does work...never tried it personally but it sits on my in-laws dining room table amongst the salt/pepper/napkin arrangement :0. Never heard anything out of them.

Body for Life Forum Message by Roe (92 posts) at 09:34 PM:
did Nutura help? Or is it helping. i am buying beano tomorrow. I dislike farting, and the smell... i think it all the spinach and brocolli.... Although, I heard once from Suzanna Sommers that SHE NEVER FARTS!! And it was due to the foods she eats. ya know... prmoting her program, maybe I should switch to hers... just kidding, BFL Foreve' baby!!! God bless Roe

Body for Life Forum Message by Tmbrwolf (16 posts) at 09:45 PM:
Roe, I have been told that if and when you add protein into your diet, especially from the protein shakes this adds to the GAS problem. As you body adjusts to the new life style this should improve.

Body for Life Forum Message by SuzyQ (45 posts) at 10:39 PM:
Roe, Yes, I am definitely feeling 100% better after starting the dr. natura thing. I really can't believe the amount of energy I have and no gas and my stomach is much flatter!!! I'm on day 7 so the no.2's don't smell like nothing but it's better than it was. I really had gotten a parasite a couple of years ago while on vacation and it was the most painful/uncomfortable thing. You don't know about gas pain until you've had a real parasite. I thought I was in labor all over again. The worst part was it takes so long for them to analyze the "stool" sample before they give you this mega antibiotic to kill the thing. Then once you start taking the antibiotic to kill it the farting is ongoing. My husband came home from work and I had all the windows open. When the whole cleanse thing came up on another post I thought I needed to do that just for my own peace of mind. I'm kind of middle of the road about alternative vs. medical. I read the reviews on both sides and thought I'd give it a try. I figured it couldn't hurt and I'm really glad I'm doing it. I'll post in the future and let you know after a month or so.....

Body for Life Forum Message by Robin78745 (70 posts) at 10:44 PM:
I know for me that if I want to clear a room, Betagen is the ticket! Anyway, I've heard a lot of the supplements can do it to you too...Lucky, I work in an office where I'm not close to anyone else for the most part, and my husband just stays away.

Body for Life Forum Message by Muscles_Marinara (44 posts) at 10:55 PM:
re:protein Usually that will NOT make you have (more) gas. Usually it's because the protein source has Lactose in it. As we grow older, our need for milk decreases, and the Lactose intolerance kicks in. MOST people are at least a little lactose intolerant. I've almost completely cut it out of my diet, and it's made a HUGE difference.

Body for Life Forum Message by fitprincess (20 posts) at 11:23 PM:
I had been told that it was likely due to more protein, but Muscles_Marinara makes a good point about the lactose intolerance. Robin78745, I wish I was as lucky as you to not work so closely with people, I'm a dental hygienist- I basically have people's heads in my lap all day! Imagine how horrifying that scenario could be!!!
