Thread: What oils to take? (56 Views)

Body for Life Forum Message by LincolnJenn (84 posts) at 12:24 PM: What oils to take?
Ok, I have heard that flax oil is good, but what about fish oil or hemp oil? I am interested in the cholesterol lowering benefit in addition to the other health benefits. What about the increased fat (good fat) that it adds to your diet, any problems losing fat after taking these oils? What are your preferences? Much appreciated, Jenn

Body for Life Forum Message by Robin78745 (75 posts) at 01:09 PM:
From what I have read from the sources I trust, you need omega 3 fatty acids to reduce inflammation, heart disease, cancer and a host of other issues. I'm not familiar with hemp oil. I think Fish oil is good provided you make sure its from a source that doesn't contain contaminants. I also know its better (more potent) to take any oil in liquid form as opposed to capsule; I'm not sure if fish oil comes in liquid. I also understand a lot of folks take Udo's oil. But...from what I've seen Udo's provides Omega 3 as well as Omega 6, which...to my understanding we get enough of from a typical diet. It also contains Omega 9's but I haven't read anything other than Udo's site that promotes Omega 9's. Given the price difference between Udo's and say, flax seed oil, I prefer flax. So...the upshot is that I personally take flax seed oil in liquid form; it provides the necessary Omega 3's. I think you can get enough Omega 3's through yoru diet, but only if you're eating a lot of fish, salmon, walnuts, sardines, and egg yolks.

I take udo's choice blend oil, it has all the oils in it the fats you need

I alternate between flax oil and coconut oil.

Body for Life Forum Message by koffea (21 posts) at 05:43 PM:
i take carlsons fish oil. they process it to take out contaminants like mercury and it tastes lemony. Even my baby girl (13 months old) loves it. She slirps it right down. I add flax to a lot of things as well. basically anything thats going to use flower I replace 25 - 50% flax flower. It does screw up the chemistry and hence the texture a little. but all in all it quite tasty.

I understand that myoplex lite is a meal replacement shake so, if i am drinking that, when would i use the betagen? and should you not use them at the same time? THanks!

Body for Life Forum Message by mom2Collin (8 posts) at 09:54 PM:
Let me apologize for how ignorant i am to this .. i have just been getting a little confused .. i have now read more threads and have a better understanding.. my next question is what do you mix betagen with? water?

Body for Life Forum Message by bluepulse (23 posts) at 10:04 PM:
Hey I'm just as ignorant. What I've gotten so far is; Betagen is creatine+human growth hormone (hmb). It can be mixed with water or juice. read this if you'd like http://www.global-nutrition-inc.com/es-003.html or this:http://www.bodybuildingforyou.com/creatine/eas-betagen-review.htm

Body for Life Forum Message by losingit (23 posts) at 05:23 AM:
Sixpack, just out of curiosity, are you trying to run 3 miles still using the 6-10 intensity levels. I've managed it just using a 8-9 intensity level the whole time, but would struggle if I wasn't to keep my heart rate up at a steady level.

Body for Life Forum Message by Pixy (464 posts) at 06:14 AM:
Holy cow I didn't know treadmills went that fast. Just don't fall off!!! 2.65 is good after doing a 5k, good for you.

Body for Life Forum Message by sixpack (119 posts) at 04:32 PM:
Yep I am trying to use the intensity levels. I am trying to keep it where I am getting the biggest push on the 9 intensity but I only do each for a minute and my my 6 intensity is around the 6.5 to 7 mph range and my 9 intensity is around the 10.5 to 11mph. My treadmill maxes out at 12mph though so I hope that doing the intesities I can still get to 3 miles.

Body for Life Forum Message by kitwhit (11 posts) at 10:32 AM:
Mike this is so true. When I started writing down my BFL goals I realized I had a roadmap and all I had to do was follow it. Within a couple weeks I started writing down other goals, mostly in the area of home improvement. I wrote down a "master list" and once a week I have been writing down more short term goals. For the past few years I have simply sat numbly looking around me at all there is to do. Now I look at accomplishing the small things and see that progress is being made. Yes, it is slow, but progress is being made.

Thread: Friday Thoughts - Musical Sentiments (103 Views)

Body for Life Forum Message by Flower (2380 posts) at 07:25 AM: Friday Thoughts - Musical Sentiments
Is there any music that has affected you or had some "impact" on your life? Gives you certain feelings when you hear it? Here's a few off the top of my head: Charlie Pride/Johnny Cash - lame I know but sure gives me fond memories of much older aunts & uncles. Neil Diamond/Elton John - my parents are of the Woodstock generation but just never learned how to do it. We travelled alot by car when I was young so many hours spent listening to this & by now I can sing most of their songs by heart and never think this music is lame. AC/DC/Rolling Stones - this is the music that taught me how to party like a rock star. Bob Marley - yeah mon, lots of fun to be had with this. Led Zeppelin - one of the all time greatest bands ever. Many bad "party memories" and its taken me til now to get over it & appreciate it again - those memories stayed for a long time and every time I'd hear them I'd cringe. Classical - I skated to this type of music for half my life and I may not know the names but there are numerous pieces that I know every single note and every single note can make my body "express" it - well at least with my arms (LOL). INXS - maybe not the best band by any standards but always gives me a good feeling. T-Rex - I never ever get sick of The Slider. There are few people that I know that love them as much as I. I played this for one of Steve's "younger" friends - he loved it - I had a new respect for him. Pearl Jam/Stone Temple Pilots - this is what its all evolved into at this point in time. Christmas Music - after 40 years the same old songs & some can still bring tears to my eyes. I know there's more, but this is a start. Got any?

It's so strange, I've been thinking about this lately too. Last night we were driving home and the song "Blue Monday" by New Order was on the radio and I said to my son, you know when I was younger I used to dance to this song at the bars when I was a wild woman. Those 80's techno dance songs really bring back memories of fun, carefree times. Also, we watched the Grammys together and he loves that song Feel Good, Inc. by the Gorillaz and then Madonna came on. She looks fabulous and I said, did you know that she's older than me?? He was astonished and even commented yesterday again at how great she looks. I told him I was about his age when her first album came out and that brought back memories of when I was in junior high school, that was a tough time for me. If anyone can invoke a slew of memories and emotion for me, it's Bruce Springsteen. I could go on and on about how each song has impacted my life, but I won't because it would take forever. I love his music and it's all I ever need.

Body for Life Forum Message by nola (129 posts) at 11:00 AM:
REO Speedwagon makes me think of high school (oh boy, THAT dates me) and the DUMB boys I liked at the time. I still love their songs though. Madonna's early songs make me think of college. A fun time with little worries. Bye Bye Miss American Pie makes me think of being a little kid in Alabama. I did not understand what the song meant at the time, just thought it sounded good. Elton John makes me think of my brother (no he's not gay...he's 10 yrs older and used to have a lot of EJ albums and I would sneak into his room and listen to them when I was about 7 or 8, which made my mom mad because she thought EJ was evil). I still love to hear EJ sing. And this one is retarded, but whenever I hear that Wilson Phillips song (that "Hold On" song http://music.msn.com/album/?album=43655563# ) I think about how I got my hair cut really short back in 1990 because I liked the lead singer's hair and I felt like I had done something incredibly brave by cutting off my hair...it was a weird time when a lot of things were changing. And I when I was in kindergarten, I seriously thought "Oh Susanna" was ABOUT ME because my middle name is Suzanne and I came from Alabama....

Still do that to this day actually. Salt 'n Pepa's song "Shoop" makes me think of my freshman year in high school. And Ellen DeGeneres. Eric Clapton songs, especially "Wonderful Tonight", make me think of my husband. He is a hugh Clapton fan and that song was our wedding song. "Unforgettable" by Natalie and Nat King Cole was the song that me and my dad danced to at the wedding.

A buddy and I made a $100 bet about a year ago to see who could lose 20 pounds first. I was at 234 to start and he was at 254.... on 3 separate occasions I got down to 216 range then ballooned back up to high 220's. Today I was 214.8 - i'm taking that as a win - though maybe i need to get to 214.0 - either way finally busted that barrier

Isn't this ironic - I've been looking into these alot. I've read great things about them. I'm in Canada & we can't get them here. By this I mean the actual bodylastics, we can get another brand but its these I'm interested in. I just received an email from them today letting me know they will be set up to ship to Canada next week. I'm seriously considering incoporating these into my workouts using them the majority of the time. The various exercises that can be performed using them are endless! I've "asked around" a bit and apparently they're getting big with the personal trainers (whatever the heck thats supposed to mean). What I don't understand is why they haven't caught on more than they have since there's so much going for them, ie. the cost, versatility, convenience. Why aren't more people using them when you compare gym costs or home gym costs? All the answers I received were "thats a very good question, I don't know, you'd think they would have, with personal trainers picking up on it maybe its just a matter of time before people become more enlightened". We have tons of these at my gym. I ought to try them out! Although I have to say that I chuckled the other night when a trainer had her client strap on some bands around her lower legs (just above the ankle) and walk around Sumo-wrestler style around the gym. She was grunting and everything. I don't mean to make fun, but damn that was goofy looking!!!

During week 8 I got VERY hungry. I think what happens (and this is just a theory) somewhere between weeks 6 and 8, from what I've read and seen, is that your muscle builds up enough that you start burning more calories, so the food that worked before isn't enough. And when you're working out, and your body runs out of its energy stores, it wants the most quick energy, calorie rich items it can get to replenish itself; ie, fat and carbs. If i were you'd I'd up your portions, maybe by about 25% at least for your major meals. I've done this and it seems to work for me. For example, at dinner, instead of having a cup of brown rice I now have about 1.5 cups.

Thread: ? for Runners re: Breathing (82 Views)

Body for Life Forum Message by nola (129 posts) at 09:16 AM: ? for Runners re: Breathing
I'm relatively new to running, but I really love it. I feel powerful when I go up to a higher speed on the treadmill and don't fall off! I have noticed that I get a little dizzy sometimes after running for a few minutes...yesterday it dawned on me that I probably was not breathing correctly or even enough. (This came to me as I gasped for air, lol.) I realized that I was breathing through my mouth, shallow and fast, while running. So I started paying attention to my breathing and made it a point to breathe in through my nose and out through my mouth, slowing down the breathing a bit while running faster. (Sounds complicated but it was surprisingly easy.) What I found was that suddenly I could run and run and run and was not getting to tired so quickly, and that time was going by quickly since I was concentrating on breathing rather than minutes. I got up to 6 mph which is my all-time high and it was not really that difficult. Also I did not feel dizzy when I was finished (which will help with my fear of falling off while going fast). So what IS the correct way to breathe while running?

Body for Life Forum Message by Crispywafers (30 posts) at 10:26 AM:
Hi Nola, Check this out: http://www.marathonguide.com/training/coachmindy/everybreath.cfm Personally I think your body will take care of itself when it comes to breathing/running after a few runs...but there is def. advice on it. However I have always heard, at least when it comes to running, and running fast, that you breathe through your mouth (more oxygen). However sounds like you have some anxiety with the treadmill so perhaps slowing your breathing helps with that! Do what works for you!

Body for Life Forum Message by Framed (166 posts) at 11:13 AM:
I can't imagine running a fast run with my mouth closed. I inhale through my mouth. Your breathing and heart rate get into sync after about 10 minutes. With the HIIT you never get to just relax into an unconcentrated run. The heartrate and breathing are ever increasing. Try going for a long relaxed jog..one where you are going slow enough that you could talk through it. You will see what I mean about getting the breathing and heartrate in sync so that it is effortless. This wouldn't be your HIIT. Just something to experiment with running and breathing. It can be very natural and relaxing once the heart rate and breathing are working together. Crispy...thanks for the website!

Body for Life Forum Message by bella2be (507 posts) at 03:42 PM:
I never knew where the "in through the nose, out through the mouth" came from. As others have said, the more oxygen the better, and mouth open is going to allow you to breath more deeply.

I am expecting a call any minute from an Atlanta Newspaper that wants to interview me and I feel my belly rumbling. I hope the tea from last night doesn't kick in right as they call..OH MY!!! On another note. I've noticed other threads on this forum mentioning this particular thread. I just want to say this..Yes we are cleansing our colons. So maybe the gum I swallowed as a kid won't be stuck to my BMs as they come out. Does it matter? Each of us has our own reasons for doing it. I am doing it because I get Ezcema really bad on my hands sometimes. The ointment I use for it causes skin atrophy(thinning) if used too long or too much. I have read that colon cleansing helps with that. Not to mention the possible benefits of losing weight too. All the ingredients in the Colonix are all natural. If I get time later I will post the ingredients along with their benefits. I am using this as a holistic approach to my health. Because I am a nurse does not mean I am closed minded about that. I am not sure why this thread is causing a stir among some people..Yes it's gotten a lot of views. Obviously there are many people who are VERY curious about it. We are too..so much we were willing to shell out the $150 to do this. Though I spend $65 on a months supply on ebay. Hahaha. Theres nothing wrong with this. Heck some people who are chronically constipated in this thread finally have relief. Is that such a bad thing? :) Ok..I am off my soap box! Take care and happy cleansing! ---Missy

Wasnt moving around or anything like that. I havent eaten anything in the past two weeks that would even remotely resemble it. I have heard many people say that their blood sugars drop at night, crashing their metabolism (thus making your body store fat rather than burn it) A low glycemic food such as cottage cheese would help regulate blood sugars if eaten closer to bedtime. You figure you stop eating at 6 and are up for three more hours and then sleep for say, eight hours. That is 11 hours without any food to regulate your blood sugar levels and steady your metabolism. IMHO, that is too long to go without eating.

Sandiepooh, I did the same thing on my challenge week #5. Amy and I went out of town for the Christmas Holiday season and..... needless to say we didn't work out, we tried to eat healthy but there was about four or five days that you could say were "free days in a row"... I gained about 3-4 lbs. during this week of my challenge (hence the love handles in week five photo), when I got back home, man it was ON..... I started my week five over and lost everything I put on that week plus I was more determined now to stay on track. Once you do something like that and you come back you will be more focused because you know what you have to do, and what you can't do. Good Luck and God Bless, Kevin P.S. I am in week 11 now and will be posting progress pic's as soon as I get them.

Wow sounds great. Excellent advise. I will definetly, do just that. I decided, I came a long way in 2 weeks from my 315lbs and not able to walk from my car to the front door. I am going on to my next week armed with your encouragement and ready to start journaling. Yes, I haven't been doing that, it's not easy but I think I am going to make my own journal or go buy the EAS journal. Thank you all for your wonderful thoughts and encouragement.

Hi Sandiepooh, Great job on the success so far and hope that you're feeling better. Instead of thinking of the next week as "starting over," does it make sense to say, "Next week I'm going to do better?" It might make a difference (subconsciously): the difference between giving up and starting over or pushing through the adversity and carrying on. Does that make sense at all? BFL is very forgiving--missing two workouts won't derail your program in the big scheme of things. I believe that you will have a greater sense of accomplishment and honoring your self promises if you keep pushing forward. Progress, not perfection, right? :) However you choose to move forward, you are doing great! Love the determination! Keep up the good work... Christina

That would be a challenge for me, because I normally can run 2 miles in a 20 min HIIT, so I would have to committment to running another 2 miles....hmmm... Body for Life Forum Message by DreamCatcher (795 posts) at 12:09 PM:
lol HotBody. Or a chisel. Goodness what did I start here? I was not looking for an 8 mile challenge. Goodness, you trying to kill me? lol. I already stated that I'm not a runner. Two knee surgeries ago and acute asthma to boot does make it difficult to go on extended runs. My point really...is that up until now I've been half a**ing it as far as cardio. I've been doing the walk/jog thing, but never really giving it everything I could during any of it. Rather just watching the clock just WAITING for it to be over with! My major recent accomplishment was running the full 20 minutes. I'm not fast...I'm actually pretty slow. Point is, I did it! I do kick it up at the end. If some of you are doing well already with the running..I think that challenge is a great idea...but maybe for others, like myself really need to work up to that. For those of you taking up on the challenge.....GOOD LUCK! (Oh...but I'll still be working MY best at jiggling the jigglies off! lol) Jennifer

my running isn't fast. my hitts...which I haven't done since last week, so they are likely much slower now... level 6: 5.0, level 7: 5.4, level 8: 5.7, level 9: 6.0, and my ten is usually at 6.5 So, not fast and barely 2 miles. Usually hits 2 miles after I walk for about 1-2 mins. But hard for me!

Body for Life Forum Message by bubblz7 (166 posts) at 03:08 PM:
OK, so let me say I had alway HATED running. I couldn't do it. That was before I was diagnosed with exercise induced asthma and BEFORE BFL! Now, I love it. I'm still not good at it and I'm not fast. I can run a few at a good clip but then I get short of breath. I've done handfuls of 5Ks, several 10Ks, 2 20K, 2 half marathons and 2 full marathons. One of my goals is to do another marathon this year UNINJURED. Like I said, I'm slow so I want to finish under 5 hours. We'll see. But I guess the point of this is, it was BFL that totally turned me into a runner. Its the only cardio I really LIKE to do!!! So, rock on...errrr run on sister!!! Remember, NEVER GIVE UP!! Suzanne

Give it 12 full weeks of following BFL and EFL to a "T" and you WILL see results. I felt the same as you when I first started, and I've never stuck with any program for long until BFL. I've now been doing this for over a year, and I've lost almost 50 pounds and feel so much better! Make sure you take measurements and your bodyfat % (preferably not with a scale), and take before pictures. Lots of times the pictures will show progress that the numbers don't show. This WILL work if you follow it!

Body for Life Forum Message by Booloo (51 posts) at 08:01 AM:
If you think about it, you wouldn't see immediate results on any diet plan. Well, maybe a really unhealthy crash diet, but we all know those don't work in the long run. Are you going to look slimmer next week? Probably not. Are you going to FEEL better? Yes you are. Are your pants going to be a bit looser? Could be! Give it a shot. It's not some crack pot weirdo diet: it's a sensible and balanced diet with kick ass workouts. And the workouts? Well, you know you can work up to them. I didn't start out running HIIT, I started out walking at the mall. I had to do lunges with no weights whatsoever, and still could barely walk. But your body adapts to performing so quickly. You can do this!! You can a whole network of support here, people who know this works. Good luck! Heather

Let me tell you this...If I can do it you can do it. I have always been terrible with cardio. It is my biggest nemesis. 3 weeeks ago I started on my elliptical at a resistance of 1 and could barely do 3 minutes......and today I made it 20 minutes with a peak resistance of 6 following the 20 min cardio solution. YOU CAN DO IT!!! Just do what you can and every couple of days do a little more!

Body for Life Forum Message by LincolnJenn (84 posts) at 10:31 AM:
Rsims- I do cardio on a stationary bike and I started at the lowest level for my level 5 and then increased by one increment for each level. This worked well for me in the beginning. I am 6 weeks into it and now I have to start out on the third level and go up from there, your body gets used to things really fast so dont be surprised if you gain strenght really fast. Regarding the fear thing...you cant win the lottery if you dont buy a ticket! Overcoming fear can be the best motivator in the world! I do things that scare me on purpose so that I can be proud of myself for doing it. You can to! Jenn

I couldn't agree more with everyone...it is a marathon...not a sprint...Think of other things in your life such as a job, a relationship etc. When you start in your career you dont start as the CEO, you work your way up and through hard work, dedication etc, eventually you learn more and advance higher, BFL is the same thing, be patient and set short term and long term goals, If you are new to weight training etc, YOU WILL have a learning curve, just like when you start a new job, but when you look back, you realize how far you have come... STAY WITH IT !!! Ask questions, learn, and always try to move forward...

Body for Life Forum Message by DreamCatcher (795 posts) at 12:30 PM:

Thanks! Statwise I actually saw the biggest gain before I started the actual challenge. I started working out and eating better in July 05. When I started I was 25% BF and weighed 175lbs. Doing it my own way took a lot more time, I was riding a bycicle 50 miles a week before it got cold. BFL is much easier(believe it or not). So actually I have dropped 19% BF and around 25lbs of fat and gained 5 or so pounds of muscle. Oh, and I have gone from a 34 pant size to a loose 30!

Nice to have someone kind of close in size to compare to... good job on the pants, also! I just barely fit into my 38" pants last night... As for the old ones, it is a question of commitment...my mom has a friend who loses weight, goes from a size 8 to a size 4, gives away all of her size 8 clothing and then a year later has to go out and buy all new size 8 clothing.... Looking around on tracker there are lots of folks who do great through 12 weeks and balloon up again between challenges... So, the question is...are you doing this for the long haul? Pounds, inches and bodyfat down, fantastically pleased with 3lbs loss overall. 195lbs is a big milestone for me, just 3 lbs left to go on that one. Have uploaded photos but there is no great difference from last week but not to be expected week on week..

Mid point next week - I am looking forward to that.

I'm ahead of target so now I am going to focus on how much I can beat my 12 week target. 182lbs overall would be a great result and i now think it is achievable (just).

I have found I'm still up 5 lbs since Sunday, so just not sure if its due to colonix or just normal fluid retention. Even my calves are 1" bigger this week than last. (Hmmm...it couldn't have been from the piece of pie on Monday!!!) Nothing out of the ordinary so far and hope it stays that way. I can set my watch to my first movement every day - it happens 5 to 7 minutes after I take my Paranil first thing in the morning. The second usually comes before I leave for work. Sometimes I have a bonus round during the day. So 2 to 3 times a day, up from 2 to 3 times a week if I was lucky! My skin is more clear and my hair is shinier. I have not weighed but wouldn't be surprised if there was a bit of a gain due, I am sure, to the fact that there is probably some fiber in there soaking up all the water I'm drinking. My stomach feels a bit flatter at least. I am on day 8. Have not seen anything resembling worms but have had a couple of things that might have been interesting to unravel. I feel like I have a bit more energy and I do feel cleaner inside!

Nothing scary, and only once each morning. Will see what the weekend brings. Suzanne. I was really concerned after about 3 days on this program. I seemed to be extremely bloated and puffy (not just simply overweight). I also had been drinking all my water. I even had to go back and read the pamphlet to see if this was a side effect (which it was). I felt so bad about it that I considered discontinuing it (but didn't). Luckily, that has gone away and I hope doesn't come back. I did feel much better today.

I wish I could tell you, but I honestly don't know. The reading on our treadmill doesn't work. And it only goes to 5mph. So...I go slow..my guess would be around 2 miles. I'll have more of an idea when I can do cardio outdoors again. At least then I can gauge it with the car! My hubby has been doing about 2.6 miles in 20 minutes

Body for Life Forum Message by Roe (102 posts) at 10:48 PM:
Hey dream catcher... When you jog on the treadmill, do you hit your 10's at 5mpr. taht is what i start at... just curious. Roe

Body for Life Forum Message by DreamCatcher (795 posts) at 11:38 PM:
Yes I do, because up until this week I alternated between jog/walk/jog/walk. I'd never jogged more than 2 minutes at a time. This is the first time that I've jogged continuously, so I am hitting my 10's because it's not something that I'm used to. I have an asthma attack pretty much every time I jog so I have to be careful, but am learning that I can push myself further and take a breathing treatment immediately after.

I had a cheat meal last night. I had four or five slices of pizza then I had three slices of choc. chip pizza with diet coke. It was sooooooooooooo good. I'm going to try to not have any cheat meals until I'm finished, March 26. I'm just not seeing the fat drop off like I would like, even though I've lost 10 pounds so far. We'll see how it goes. It's not easy when your child begs for Mexican food once a week from our favorite place. Good luck to everyone.

hehe. yeah and sometimes i get confused with inces and lbs cause here we use meters and kilos. i know you've got the stone system in uk witch complitely messes my mind....nah serious, i can convert them but it's just a bit bizarre :) what if we started our little 'europe club' here cause for some reson i feel like i can relate to you people a lot better? i mean i've been to uk and as you said RyanCTJ the products over in us are way different. oh still haven't solved my eating at work problem. luckily i've got a day off today and i've decided that i won't have any of mypo on my days off. i've thought about the toilet thingy, but all the people who i work with know i've started training daily and that i want my meals at sertain times but even if i could sneak to the back room for some tuna and veggies (for example) it takes a bit time and as i said i can't leave my position for more than 1 minute if it's busy. right enough about my silly problem :) i'll sort it out. i guess i have no choise but to win the whole challenge as they've promised refund all the mypolex products you've used during the challenge if you become a champion. there's a good goal for me, ay?

Good luck with that Sardinie. More chance than me. I've just been to the shops at lunch and for some reason a big pizza with all the nice toppings caught my eye (it was in the discount section). I thought i'd buy it for dinner, so my plan is to have healthy day, then eat the Pizza tonight (not boozing though, so thats a bonus), then a similar thing tomorrow (as my official day off) but exercising both days. I only went to buy a banana and didn't even end up getting that. Oh well, better hit a 5k in 21 mins on the treadmill tonight to make up for it.

Hi I'm from Norway, just near Finland. Try these websites: http://bodyforlife.se/ http://www.eas-sweden.se this is in swedish, I can help you with chosing the products. There are norwegian websites like: http://www.power-nutrition.no/index.php/manufacturers_id/30 http://www.eas-norway.no/produkter But you don't have as many choices as you find in the swedish webites. Try to search in the internett by....... oh.... wait, I just found a website in Finland about Body for life: http://www.bodyforlife.fi Try these, and I'm ready to help. Good Luck

Body for Life Forum Message by sardinie (15 posts) at 10:57 AM:
thanks norman. i know the finnish site but they haven't updated it for a year...what makes me think no-one is really doing this over here :) yeah and i've gotta check out the swedish sites cause i speak swedish anyway. funny i didn't think about it myself! and to 'losing it'. i must admit, i bought a frozen pizza for my free day tomorrow as well. but rather than stuffing it to my face in 5 min. i'm gonna take eating it very slowly so hopefully i'll feel full quicker and won't finish the whole thing...well...that'd be ideal, but i don't think is gonna happen :) have a nice weekend you all!

Body for Life Forum Message by Blondie26 (181 posts) at 07:55 AM: I am so lost
It has been very stressful the last 4wks. Let me start at the beginning. After work one afternoon I went to pick up my kids from daycare, (4yr old and 7month old) My youngest was in his crib playing on plastic. Yes thats right plastic for a baby. Well that was my last straw. I pulled both kids out of daycare. My boss let me work part time until I was able to find another child care. I would work when hubby was off. Well We found a sitter and we liked her alot and she was just around the corner from our house. We did a check on both adults, Lets say we found some interesting stuff and decided not to have our kids there. I kept looking for a provider and time ran out. I ended up back where I was but they made changes and I do drop ins thru out the day. This is just temporay. Ok the next big thing is This past Tues. We had a big office meeting. The bomb was dropped we were bought out by another title company. I'm still in shock and so stressed out hoping that I'll keep my job in the next couple of months. THis merge is to take place at the end of this month. Happy b-day to me. My b-day is the 18th. I have not been very good on my diet and workouts. Last week I was kicking butt doing 45min of cardio burning 425calories each time this week nothing. No workouts no eating right if I'm lucky I'll eat. I am back on here to fess up. My butt is getting back on track. I can only answer to myself and I feel that coming here and admitting I've slipped so badly in the last couple of weeks that I know I will get myself back on track. I gained alittle back but a 4wk challenge will take care of it. Thank you all for listening to me. I feel that I must confront all of you and myself with this. Dawn

Dawn, being honest with yourself, let alone w/ everyone else can be very difficult. It is also the first step in heading the right direction, so kudos to you :) Your situation sounds frustrating, and I am keeping my fingers crossed for you. I can only speak for myself when I say that BFL has been a godsend during stressful times in my life. I have relieved a lot of stress through my workouts. And although it's easier said than done, try not to focus too hard on tyhe job situation, b/c really, it's out of your hands. BFL on the other hand is something you have control over, focus your efforts on what you can make a difference in. ANd remember that if you feel good about yourself in life, it really makes all the $h*t that does happen easier to deal with. I hope the best for you :)

Body for Life Forum Message by tcstone (924 posts) at 09:22 AM:
Eactly, I second snowboardingfairy's comment. Job and children are way stressful and are usually the triggers that cause me to eat bad. Ultimately though I am responsible. Good luck over the next coming weeks. We will always be here for you! Teresa

Oh boy...that is a lot going on at once. I have been there with the daycare worries...that is always a tough thing to find a place and people you feel good about. I'm glad your boss is accomodating...that is a really good thing and also hard to find. Good luck with everything and focusing on your BFL stuff might help ease the stress a bit as far as the work situation goes. It's one thing you CAN control! ~Eileen

Body for Life Forum Message by Roe (102 posts) at 07:26 PM:
ICU, I have to disargee with them being the same nutirtional value, I did a reasearch project on fresh/frozen/raw fruits and veggies. It was a shown and clinically proven the absencence of nutrients, not so much on the packing duration, but the process of packing canned veggies. The loss it pretty extreme. I will work on some websites that helped me int he past with that topic.

Body for Life Forum Message by ICU_RN (889 posts) at 10:10 PM:
Here are just a few references I found about canned vs. fresh. I don't visit websites ending in .com for obvious reasons...I tend to trust those ending in .gov, .org, or .edu. I have taken quite a few nutrition classes and found the information below to be accurate. Yes, if I could go pick my own fresh veggies and fruits right off the tree, bush, out of the ground, etc, and then eat it IMMEDIATELY....then fresh would probably come out slightly superior. But since most of us don't have the luxury of having that peach orchard or cornfield in our backyard, canned veggies (and frozen) have just as much nutrients as those you buy in your local grocery store, bring home, and consume over a period of days. If you can find some studies that say otherwise, I would be happy to take back what I said. Until then, I'm sticking with what I've read and researched. http://www.ext.colostate.edu/pubs/columnnn/nn970122.html http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/002095.htm http://www.oznet.ksu.edu/Dickinson/FACS/Archive/August30.htm http://www.aces.uiuc.edu/~nutrican/findings.html Melanie = )
