I've seen people talk about the calculator for calories?? Where do you find it at? thanks, xoxo, Jen
Body for Life Forum Message by Prissy Crissy (51 posts) at 11:15 AM
Do you mean to figure out how many cal you should have? If yes, it's under the BFL website, www.bodyforlife.com under exercise and the tab to the left has training tools. It's in there.
If you are talking about tracking your cal's - most people use fitday.com.
Hope this answers your ???

Body for Life Forum Message by MsRox (4 posts) at 08:36 AM
Red is a who, not a what. His first name is Red, last name is Green. Is that show still on TV? I used to watch it when I lived in Canada. What a hoot!
Body for Life Forum Message by kmachate (489 posts) at 09:55 AM
He's on PBS (Monty Pyton was on PBS at one time, too.. ;) ) in teh US..
His real name is Steve Smith, but Red Green is the character.. It's a Canadian show that I 'discovered' while living in Seattle.
It's totally a guy thing, don't bother trying to understand. :)

We are having a discussion at work about the Super Size Me thing and I remember the guy saying that the son, father and grandfather who founded one of the companies all died of the same health complaints due to them testing all the flavours. I just can't remember the name of the company.

Body for Life Forum Message by kmachate (489 posts) at 11:12 PM
Here's what I know:
The Calendar is stil on for the time being, but it may fizzle due to the organizer being occupied with too much Life, and not enough $ to et it going. (It takes capital to start a project, you know.)
Also, it was decided that it would be an 18 month calendar beginning with July '06, including 9 men AND 9 women.
I really want to see it happen, so in my eyes, we all need to help with the WORK part, not just the 'buy one when it's done' part.
Having helped with a Boxer Rescue calendar a few years ago, I know how hard it can be to get this kind of thing going. This is a HUGE undertaking.

When you were young, what did you want to be when you grew up, and what are you doing now?
I'll go first....

Anyone ever poke their head up, look around and say OMG- what happened? Where did those 20 years go?
Better get with the program!
Saw an old co worker of mine from 1987 in the newspaper today ( he is still in the music business- I managed a record store ) and it brought back many memories, along with the thought- holy smokes- I gotta send him a BFL book:)

I work from home doing floor plans and renderings for builders. I am also starting to take over my moms business so she can retire, which is real estate appriasing and I retrain horses on the side. I have never worked outside the home, which is sometimes good and sometimes bad. Mainly because everyone knows they can find you any time of the day or night!!!

Are you drinking enough water? Make sure you're getting your 10 cups/day + 1 for each caffeinated beverage you consume. And as Jennifer A mentioned adding more veggies. The EFL method suggests having veggies with at least two of your meals and adjusting the portion to satisfy your hunger.
Good luck!

Hi, everyone. I'm brand new to this site -- and I'm here because I'm getting OVER depression! Jules (my nickname, too!), it's different for everyone. I needed Wellbutrin to get back to "normal" -- and after 12 weeks I am hoping to get off the drugs, having re-started my healthy habits that kept me from getting depressed in the first place! If exercise isn't enough, there's no shame in medication. I was resistant to it myself, but I have to say it's the best decision I ever made. I had the exact same feelings about being "stuck" and now that I'm out of the "fog" (that's what I call it), I wish I had seen a doctor sooner. Your post sounds a lot like I did before I went. Again, it's a chemical thing. There's no shame in getting help.
I wish you the very best,

Another question I have is about workouts. I think that you are only supposed to do the weights on schedule because of recovery time, but what about cardio? Can you do this every day? Before winter arrived last week, I was biking 50 miles a week and just about every day. That is about 5 hours a week, an hour at a time. I have gone to the 20 minute workout becuase it is more bearable in the Chicago weather. Can I do this everyday also?
Body for Life Forum Message by Flower (1857 posts) at 02:44 AM
Have you read the book? Its cardio every other day. The general consensus is if you are doing your workouts according to the book, hitting your "10"s you shouldn't have any energy left to do extra cardio.
Body for Life Forum Message by SupaFreak (914 posts) at 07:23 AM
It will be one year since starting BFL for me in January. I'm maintaining 132 pounds and still working out.
Yes, I take little breaks now and then, and I'm a little more relaxed on the foods, but the BFL lifestyle is one I'll keep all my life.
I tell you what, if I had judged my progress in C1 from the scale or bodyfat loss, I would have quit in week 4 too.
It was SOLID determination that helped me finish C1 for sure.
BFL RULES!

Spec, as for your wife... I started at 34% bodyfat last November (2004). It has taken me much longer than 12 weeks to get to my "goal" weight, but I am now around 20% bodyfat. I'm still working hard (I wouldn't have it any other way) and DAILY I'm finding new ways to improve my program, my eating, etc. My desire is to reach my body's best physical state of fitness. Please tell your wife to set a goal of one year or 6 months or something to really give this program a serious try. If I'd have only attempted my first challenge, I'd still be 30 pounds heavier with high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
On cardio... you can do HIIT cardio for a maximum of 3x/week. Other cardio, should be at your leisure and should be a steady-state, lower intensity cardio.
This program can be an emotional roller-coaster (we tend to set our timelines much too short), but given the proper amount of time to work from the inside out... it is amazing!!!
Body for Life Forum Message by leehigh (70 posts) at 08:37 AM
Ok I have to jump in on this one. I am usually just a lurker and only post once in a while, but this caught my eye. I agree with Miss Fit that having hypothyroidism does make it harder for us to lose weight, I also have it.
As for this program not working, or only working for about 5%, I totally disagree. If everyone that joined us in the BFL journey, and stuck to it, I believe it would be 100% successful. Yes, alot of people give up, but alot of us that just hang around here and dont post, havent given up at all. I have been faithfully doing BFL since June and I never plan on stopping. I am a member of bodyforlifers and I post alot there. No offense to this site, but when I joined this one it ended up being down for a while right after I joined so I got comfortable over there. Dont get me wrong, I like it here too, I just dont always have time to post everywhere.
As for my results, in my first challenge I totally messed up. I was overtraining and defeated the purpose so I stopped at 8 weeks and started over. My second challenge, I only lost 7 pounds and 9 inches. I am only in week 2 of my third challenge so I dont know what will happen this time. All I know is that even if I dont move the scale, I know I feel 100% better than I did before I started this. My cholesterol has lowered and I have way more energy. I feel great!
So just remember, those of us who started out here very well could be still sticking to it. I hope I didnt offend anyone, that was not my intention and if I did I am sorry, I just felt the need to explain for alot of us that dont post alot.

Okay. This may or may not be helpful. It depends on your personality and how you are motivated.
I like to keep in mind something an old roommate said, "If you want to be successful at anything in life, you have to bust your ass, period." Sorry for the cursing, but it drives home his point. I think of this when I whine to myself and feel the need for encouragement even after being encouraged (such as visiting Tracker).
To think you can compromise your way to physical fitness by trying to figure out the least amount of work it takes shows, to me, a lack of commitment. It's just like anything else worthwhile.
So, get out there and bust your @$$ (intelligently, of course)

I totally agree with NUTZ. It takes hard work, being DEDICATED to YOURSELF enough to eat clean and hit your 10's. THEN ..the results will come.
Spec V- I just dont "get it" when you say "I dont want her to go through the vigorous exercise if the results arent going to be there". Its a GUARANTEE that if she DOESNT go thru the vigorous exercise-the results WONT be there.
Vigorous exercise isnt a BAD THING (unless you have a medical reason)-and even then JULIE WHITT is a PERFECT EXAMPLE of overcoming/dealing w/medical issues.

You can read all about hypothyroidism here on WebMD:
http://www.webmd.com/hw/health_guide_atoz/sth150012.asp?navbar=hw145669
It is a very real disease that creates a variety of symptoms including weight gain. For people with hypothyroidism (such as Miss Fit) they must first get their thyroid functioning properly through hormone therapy and then they can begin to lose weight. But it's a tougher battle for them because they must control their thyroid function first. I'm not a doctor but maybe someone on tracker is and can offer some enlightenment.

I did read Julie's blog...inspiring as always. Thanks for the heads up Larry.
As you probably already know...for years Dr. John Hussman's site has encouraged all BFLers to sign their organ donation cards. Being famous for assisting the BFL world, it is the perfect site to network Julie's campaign and bring even more attention to others needing this life saving gift.
We appreciate all your efforts on Julie's website Larry! You da man...

Have you taken measurments? We all know the scale is evil and should be destroyed! lol. Give it some time. If you are "feeling" it then believe me it's happening. Stay positive, and keep working at it.

I was taking in 1600 cal a day....then found where I should multiply my GOAL weight by 9-11 calories ..... so I cut my portions (not my meals), cut out my evening carb and in doing so found that I cut my caloric intake down to about 1400 per day.....I saw a 2 lb drop between week 6 & 8...along with a drop in BF and overall 2 1/2 inches lost.
So, I think it worked for me.
At 1400 cal. I don't FEEL like I'm eating too much, which is how I felt at 1600
Body for Life Forum Message by AirSpace (33 posts) at 10:37 AM
I'd suggest that you try different calorie levels to find out what works for you. It's very possible that Webmaster's suggestion of 1500-1600 could still produce weight loss, but at 5'2" it's possible that is too much. I am also 5'2" and I try to average around 1300 - 1400 calories per day.
Good Luck!

Julie called me last night after her doctor visit and is being officially listed as of today in the transplant database. Her doctor expects a donor match within 3-5 days, but some people get a call within 6 hours. Others wait as long as a month.
I'll post more when I hear from Julie or Matt. Let's keep them in our prayers and the families of the organ donors, who have recently lost their loved ones in this process.
Are you an organ donor? If you've been thinking about it, share this information with your loved ones and/or make sure your license is marked or you have a card in your wallet indicating that want to be an organ donor.
Personally, I know I will be in a better place when I leave this earth plane, and if my parts can help someone like Julie, then I'm all for it.
-Jessie :)

Yes, make sure your family knows that you want to be an organ donor. Put in your living will, because even though you may indicate on your DL that you want to be a donor, your family might object, unless you specify to them before the time comes.

Well, I finally got the guts to put up my week 0 and week 2 photos. I cut my head off because of my profession. I think my students would have a blast printing out my photos and passing them around school!
Someone asked me why I wore a different bathing suit so I should probably explain here...
The suit that I wore in my first photo had the wire sticking out of the top on the side (it was an old suit that sort of fit- I haven't wanted to be in one in a long time so I didn't have anything new) and not even thinking about it, I tossed it in the garbage after the photos. My thinking was that I was never going to wear it again so it was almost send-off to the old me when I threw it away. Of course when I went to take my week two photos, that's when the "oh no" came about. I'm going to use the same suit from here on out to the end of the contest. I think in the long run, I should be able to see the changes in either one. I hope that doesn't end up hurting me by not being able to see the results well. What do you think? Does it really make that big of a difference if I'm wearing a different suit?

Even though I havent been posting much..Im still here keeping an eye on everyone.
Im being COMPLETELY FAITHFUL to BFL and continue to see changes in my body...so for anyone who is doubting BFL--if you for work it, it WILL work for you!
Im sooo excited to share this: I have already reached one of my "Christmas-Goals" and its not even Thanksgiving yet!! WoooHooo!
Im wearing size 16 jeans/pants and SOME medium tops (mostly large tops still though) When I moved to Phoenix in May I was in 22/24 and 2X's!!
Im also now down to 228 (originally was 282.9!!) I havent been at this weight since 2000 when I did my VERY 1st challenge. And even back then I was ALOT BIGGER than I am now.
As of last weekend, I am no longer a "NASCAR-Virgin"!! I worked at the race here in Phx, got to hang out with a bunch of "bigwigs" from the Havoline/Chevron racing team in the Luxury Suite, and met Jamie McMurray. The best part though was spending time w/2 very good friends from back home and hanging out with Tracker-Buddy KANA and her Hunny Jim!(Posted a few pics on my profile)
Oh yeah...lets not forget: Jamies Showcar RAN OUT OF GAS in the Hospitality Area so I ended up having to PUSH IT all the way to the truck!! Talk about embarrassing! Nuthin like pushing a car that can go over 200 MPH!!
Im headin back to CALI on Monday for the Holiday, so wish me luck. I havent been back in almost 4 months (over 40lbs ago!) so Im pretty excited to see my family. Oh yeah...one more BIG thing--Since my son has stayed out of trouble for the 6 months weve lived in AZ, the CA Courts are DISMISSING ALL CHARGES that he racked up during our "hell" time before moving!! I was so happy I started CRYING at work. It finally feels like this move was the right thing to do. Thank you everyone for all of your prayers and support during those really rough times.
For any of you that are around Phoenix...Saturday night me, JAMBER and CAPPIE are all hittin da club scene-so Come and join us!

I've been having an "issue" in the last two weeks, SO I bought some metamucil.....been taking it everyday for 6 days and it's just not really working.
I've had zero results this week.
This is what I have: "roughly"
1400 cal. per day
45-50% protein
35-40% carbs
15-20% fat
I'm making all my workouts, drinking all my water, I've even gone back to my morning coffee....nothing is working.
Body for Life Forum Message by gymbeamin' (933 posts) at 10:04 AM
forgot to mention that my stomach LOOKS bloated (feels that way too).
do I have too little fat, too much protein, too many carbs? I just don't know what to do.....I've made good progress and here I am going into week 10 (Monday).
Body for Life Forum Message by Mellie (45 posts) at 10:05 AM
Hey I gotta tell you that you might not want to go full blown with the Betagen. I've been feeling really bloated and like I am gaining weight. I am afraid to weigh myself to give you numbers on Monday! I have read quite a bit and have concluded that 3 times a day is just too much for a woman, so I am only going to take it once right after my work out and that is it, also I will continue to drown myself in water to offset the retention and in my little morning "tonic" prior to working out I decided instead of hot water to make it I am using coffee since the caffeine will help with water retention. So just FYI if you are already not feeling real good becareful with the betagen.
Body for Life Forum Message by DreamCatcher (495 posts) at 10:09 AM
Are some of your carbs coming from fruit? I was having this problem too until I added an apple and banana to my diet. I have made other substitutions as well to get my fiber up there.

Well if the problem your talking about constipation, sorry I don't do codes lol.... Same thing was happening with me for quite a while. I have found what works for sure!
Make sure you eat at least 30g fiber everyday. I thought I was getting enough, but when I started writing everything down I realized I wasn't getting enough. Black beans are a great source of fiber, and lots of fruits and veggies. I wouldn't bother with fiber pills and such, you can get plenty from your food. A good biker friend taught me the trick of... Buy the strongest blend coffee (don't mess with the cheapy stuff, go with a good dark roast) that you can, brew it extra strong. 1 cup of that in the morning and I promise you will smile for the rest of the day ;)

The answer is... (drum roll) Flax Seed!! Take 1 or 2 TBSP of ground flax and put it in a smoothie every day!! It has a nutty flavor and it will, I promise, move you!!! I've taken as much as 1/4 cup and visited the bathroom several times the next day!!
To get all the benefits of flax... I suggest buying the seeds from your health food store, and grind it yourself with a coffee grinder. I read where you aren't supposed to also grind coffee in that same coffee grinder for some reason, so mine is purely for my flax. Read up on all the other benefits it has... you'll love the stuff!
Body for Life Forum Message by gymbeamin' (933 posts) at 02:53 PM
done....saw it at Kroger.....I've read about the benefits (just didn't see anything about that one), just had not added it yet.
after the last 2 weeks, you can bet it's a permanent part of my diet.
Body for Life Forum Message by gbfan (278 posts) at 05:38 PM
Just a note... you don't need high amounts of the flax to stay "regular". I have settled in on 1 TBSP per day in a smoothie (I buy golden flax seed)... and everything's good here!!
Here are some of the benefits of flax seed...
Lowered blood cholesterol levels; lowered high blood pressure; Increased energy, vitality, and stamina; Increased sense of calmness under stress; Reduced threat of blood clots; Protection against cancers, particularly hormone sensitive cancers such as breast and prostate; Better regulation of blood sugar levels; Eases inflammatory tissue conditions, including arthritis; Alleviation of dry skin, eczema and psoriasis; Enhanced immune system; Increased metabolic rate with a positive impact on weight management; Helps with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD); Natural laxative; And the list goes on and on!!
The nutritional content of golden flax seed is (2 TBSP):
Calories 120
Calories from Fat 70
Total Fat 8g
Saturated Fat 1g
Cholesterol 0g
Sodium 8mg
Total Carbohydrate 8g
Dietary Fiber 5g
Sugars 0g
Protein 5g

When I was on the Atkins diet, I ate a lot of guacamole...until I started having problems going to the bathroom ALL the time. I don't think there is another food out there that is packed with as much fiber as an avocado. If you aren't relieved from that, I don't know what will do it.
Hope you feel better!

LMAO this thread is too funny. I have to say I made the EFL pot roast (okay most of you are sick of hearing about it) and had lots of carrots and bananas this week and all of a sudden...wooo boy...I've been a regular man...maybe too regular. I too was SERIOUSLY considering a laxative. Don't know what it was but MAN I've been glad the poop fairy visited me this week...okay gotta run to the restroom now :)

There's a cereal called "Optimum Slim" that has 14g of fiber. One cup, every morning, and I only need to find 10 more grams for the rest of the day. I have had the same "issues" for a while and have recently added Metamucil Wafers (in cinnamon) to my afternoon snack. They have 6g of fiber from psyllium husk -- and really taste good! Those two together and it's smooth sailing.

Greetings from a lurker-turned-member, distressing photos and all. I just want to say, to anyone that happens to read this, that out of every BLF board I've ever read, you are the most supportive, positive and inspirational group -- by far. The decision to "go public" was a very hard one for me, but right now I am so glad I did. Is it weird that I'm tearing up a little right now?

I think I already know the answer to this, but Im going to throw this out in the open anyway...I have been sick for three days this week, and today was the first workout since Monday. Legs and abs was the workout on Monday and today I did chest, shoulders and triceps. I didnt get any cardio in and my eating went from not wanting anything to eating everything in sight. Would you re-do the week over?
Gary
Body for Life Forum Message by gymbeamin' (933 posts) at 03:53 PM
I think I would just put it behind me and eat extra clean next week, make sure I drank all my water and didn't miss one workout.
Body for Life Forum Message by TracyJeffries (1245 posts) at 04:02 PM
Yes, put it behind you. But, start eating clean again now and drink your water.
Body for Life Forum Message by Kerry (823 posts) at 05:41 PM
Nope, I wouldn't.
You would only being either kidding yourself - or setting up some sort of procrastination mechanism. I can't speak for others, but I would be very surprised if almost everybody didn't have their slip ups along the way.
The idea menioned above of going extra clean next week does have some merit- as it can associate consequences with certain actions or lack thereof.
I've done that for... punishment, guilt, to catch up, and to really try to get a sharp mental focus, and to regain my purpose, but most importantly... to have fun!
No point in beating yourself up over something done and over. ALL experiences can be good, if we can learn something from them.
Success to You,
Yours in Health,
Kerry

I just put her name in for a profile serch - not to be found.
Sorry guys, not to be a poor sport, she doesn't show up! However, whatever she is, I'm sick of this rah, rah, rah campaign. She's not a tracker!!!!!!!!!
Just because some of you found some type of "profile" for whoever the hell nicole is does not make her a goddess.
This is honestly getting quite sickening - what the hell is going on? Campainging, campaigning, campaigning, charity, charity & more charity, organs, give organs & more.
We've given. Stop it. I may be way off but at this point I don't give a shit. I searched Nicole, she's not there for crying out loud - ENOUGH CAMPAIGNING!!!!!! They're all wonderful, we're shit, they're all wonderful!
For the love of God, they're all wonderful, can we not get on with it?????? Whoever the hell she is, she's not here. There are so many people that have made amazing progress, have contributed so much and on and on then there is NICOLE!!!!!! (sorry Nicole if I'm wrong - I so don't know whats going on here). She pops up out of nowhere - did I mispell NICOLE????
I so want to be wrong - I'm just fed up with this shit. I've been fed up for weeks so you've got to question why I'm still here - good question.
Body for Life Forum Message by DreamCatcher (495 posts) at 10:46 PM

What's wrong, my dear?
Body for Life Forum Message by Larry (93 posts) at 10:46 PM
Flower,
Nicole is on Tracker. But like you, and many others, she uses a handle that is different from her name.
Her real name is Nicole Hyerman. Her Tracker name is "nheyraman". You can click here to go straight to her profile.
I don't believe anyone is "campaigning" for her or anyone else in particular. We are simply extending congratulations to the finalists -- all of them.
They certainly deserve it. And that's one of the main reasons we are all here -- to support and encourage each other.
Yours in fitness, Larry
Body for Life Forum Message by biojen (13 posts) at 11:38 PM
Yikes- that post up there got my heart beating more than my cardio! Whew. I hope Flower was able to see that we are just lending a congratulations on a job well done. All of the finalists have done an awesome job! I think we need to support them, after all, isn't that our goal too?
Body for Life Forum Message by biojen (13 posts) at 06:13 PM
For those of you in your first four weeks of BFL, especially those who are discouraged by slow or no changes, I URGE you to check out Nicole's profile and progress photos (nheyrman)
There is very little change from week 0 to week 4 but look at the end result! For those of you who need motivation to stick it out when you're not seeing results, put her photos on your fridge. She kept with it and it may have gotten her $1,000,000! Be prepared to wait for results but THEY WILL COME!

Body for Life Forum Message by Flower (1857 posts) at 07:27 PM
It seems there has been a big breakdown here.
Let me explain. This site used to be about fun, support, encouragement, fun, sharing stories, getting to know one another.
I've been biting my tongue (fingers) on this for awhile. People have gone to blogging. While you get to know the great people you met here through there blogs there's not the same rappor, instant comments, new insight that was here on tracker.
Sorry to be a sob story, but I log on and none of you are there. The ones that are here, don't really have much to say. I apologize if I'm being critical to any of you, I don't mean it in that sense, I just miss the banter that used to go on here.
If you think I'm unappreciative of the fact of Julie, the T-shirts, the October team, the November team, the December team, Kmachete's homosexuality (which I approve of BTW), the prayers & on & on I'm not. But and big BUT......this is not what this site used to be; it used to be about us, getting to know one another. When I started this post I saw Kerry was logged in - he'll be gone shortly after he gives somebody some good kick-ass advice. Supa K is on - she'll be gone before I'm done this post because she's bored to tears & off on vacation.
The point is...........somebody start some threads titled "who are you?", "what does your screen name mean", "what do you call funny?", this kind of stuff. The other stuff is getting really old & unless I'm the only one noticing, its going in the dumps. I've mentioned this before in previous posts. This site used to be something other than it is now. Lets get some of it back.

Hey Tracey
What does your screen name mean? Mine's stupid. It's just the combination of the first few letters of my first, middle and last name. Very unoriginal, but always available for my use :)
I'm fairly new around here (I'm finishing up week 9 of my first challenge) so I don't know what it used to be like here, but I definitely appreciate the bits of support I've gotten here. I'd love to get to know people better too!! A solid support system is critical in this journey IMO.

Well I've still been here, but you are right, not posting as much. I'm not one of the creative ones to start the really cool threads, but other than putting advise out there every once in a while, I haven't seen anything else that has really caught my interest to post to. I know for me...my mind has been on a lot of other things. Not to be lame, but the holidays are right around the corner, and I just figured everyone was busy too!

I know, should have thought of the U.S. Thanksgiving. Its so much more celebrated in the U.S. than Canada.
What does my name mean? So boring. I garden. When I was researching info I had to "log on" to different sites. So I used that name - it seemed suitable. Of course it wouldn't work & I had a number put onto it which I had to write down - a billion numbers with Flower ######. I tried crafty names, but always forgot. So I tried that name here and it worked. I've been here awhile & people have gone through name changes suggested by others. Nobody ever suggested "beautiful flower" or "f-off flower" or "flower rules, everyone else sucks". So I stuck with the stupid name.

Tracey,
Hhmmmmm, not sure what to say. I understand a lot of what you mean about the comraderie which used to be much stronger. I too miss some of the folks who have evolved to blogging, and I find it frusterating as you noted that the lack of "instant" communication through blogs, as well as the fact that there are so damn many of them, that one can never really stay on top of how folks are doing, and what is going on.
Perhaps the thing to do, is to hold up our end of the bargain, and continue to do our best to make this the special place we know it can be.
I do like responding to various posts, more so than creating my own, but I think this tends to be cyclical in nature- in that when "life" gets in the way- it certainly can draw your attention for a while.
The reason I post is to still be here and be as active as time permits, while also trying to support and offer what positive feedback I can. Let's face it- I also like to receive same too:)
This site may be able to be viewed as a metaphor of life- just not in real time. You know, people grow, evolve, change. Old friends loose touch, or stay in touch for that matter- but the connection is not as deep. Just a little like real life I think, and yeah- it can be sad.
I don't think that means that we should give up... and I think that folks here maybe not as long have much to offer, and over time we can get to know each other.
That's my plan, anyway- hope it is yours too:)
Yours in Health ( and friendship)
Kerry

Hey Tracey! I don't blog, I do however lurk sometimes because I am not sure I have anything important to contribute. My name is the name of my favorite hunt horse. Not very creative, but easy.

Screen Name?
WTF is THAT?
Kerry is real easy for me to remember, and I'm tired of user names, log in ID's, passwords, etc.
I long for the day when we get that computer chip impant and can be done with all the hassle stuff, LOL

My name used to be crazyconniechick because I've dealt with depression my whole life. I thought it was funny. Others did not. It tends to scare people. Now it is simplebutterfly because I LOVE butterflies and seek simplicity!
I lurk here often and read the posts, but I don't respond well to "get your shit together" and I'm not doing very well lately and people seem to think harsh love is the best approach. I need nurturing. Everybody reacts in a different way.
I respond to the Julie stuff because I can do something about that! It makes me feel good that I can muster up the energy to help another person when I am struggling to make it through the day.
I want to respond to each and every post but then I think too long and hard about my response and I back away. I feel like a hypocrite! People are always commenting on how great I look...well, I look like crap now because I can't drag myself out of bed!! So, not that great a feeling!!
However, I keep coming back because it reminds me of where I WILL get to when my brain functions properly. I see others struggle and succeed and I am GENUINELY happy for them! I love seeing others thrive! I know WHAT I need to do when I'm ready...and and much as I don't want to use this word here...I just CAN'T right now. I work hard...every single day to keep moving forward. I just don't feel like I have the right to post here if I'm not up to snuff. That feeling is overwhelming sometimes and it is a shame that it is that way, but it is what it is.
So, that is my two cents. I don't want to be judged. I just want to make some friends. Truly. I am lonely here in Ontario because I come from a small town and nobody takes the time to sit down and have a cup of coffee and chit chat! I love chit chatting! So, I come here to meet others and read about the world around me.
I'm feeling very insecure, overwhelmed and vulnerable. That's why I don't post much.
And THAT'S the short response! :-)
Tracey, btw, I think you're fabulous! Mostly because you're a nutbar and I love reading your incredibly intelligent and witty posts! Keep 'em coming. I'll get back here eventually...

See Kerry - you got it. Nothing like you're well rounded, sound judgement to NOT put a spin on things. See that's what I mean
I should have long ago, long ago started a thread about what people "I knew" here were like. Kerry, as I said, sound judgement, never critical, always encouraging even if there was no one else there, a fiasco? still, never judgemental.
I should have when I had the opportunity given each member my thoughts of them when they were on board. They were all such integral parts of this board and part of a pack. Like dogs:
Kerry: Golden Retriever - everybody loves him, why wouldn't you?
Stone Oak - remember him? Bulldog - but if he rolled over you could scratch his belly - I do miss him.
Supa K - Boxer - funny, idiotic, just because thats my favourite dog
kmachete - Boxer wannabe (LOL) reminds me of one of the boxers that I always thought was a dud but turned out to be a great dog - read between the lines, I truly mean it.
J-Dub - German Sheppard - always has a presence, doesn't necesssarily stand out in a crowd, but is a ferocious protector.
Goddessa - she's in the category with J-Dub, Stone Oak with a bit of a pit bull in her - the type we love to touch the muscles.
TNT - well she's a little chi-wa-wa (oh spelling please!!!!!!) I love her the best when she's all bouncy & cute or just lays down for a nap, then she's up again with a bow in her hair.
Karla - well Karla if you ever read this I'm so okay with you because you have a tail - woof.

Tracey- I'm a major lurker, I don't post as much as I'd like to but I read almost everything and tracker hasn't seem "right" lately and I couldn't put my finger on it, but you did. Thank you so much!
I have no idea where I came up with Tinkerbell, I guess she's everything I'm not, small, cute, sparkly, blonde, magical. I fell in love with a Tinkerbell poster at the Disney store many years ago, it's a sketch of her in pencil and I thought to myself 'if I ever have a daughter I will put this print in her room.' When my daughter was born, I found the print on eBay, had it matted and framed and there it hangs. I'm putting a picture of it on my profile for you to see.

Well lessee...where do I start.
Can'tStopMe...I spoze that was my motivational stab at giving myself a name other than Batbabe. A nic I use for absolutley every other site. Batbabe was actually a name I got from when my son believed he actually WAS Batman and my daughter was Batbaby. And, like you, I needed a nic I could remember for the endless sites that required a log in name. The problem with Batbabe and Tracker is that I knew I'd be posing in near to nothing. Having a name like Batbabe would get ones hopes up when clicking on the profile pic. SO, I opted for Can'tStopMe. Sexy? Don'tcha think?

Connie - we're so close together!!!!! Why oh why wouldn't we, couldn't we, meet up for a cup of coffee???
No strings attached - I'm a f***-up and you'll know it right away. What have you got to loose? You're time? Okay, no problem, just remember the f***-ups we spend our lives on.
Then you can go on tracker and make fun of me - I won't mind, nor will I blame you LOL.

Hey Mike, Congratulations on starting the challenge. I am also doing this on my own. This morning it was very challenging to get up at 6 am and drive to the gym for my lbwo, especially since it was only 17 degrees out, but I am commited to seeing this thing through. I am on C1W4D5, have seen some results, but I have a long weigh, (pun intended) to go, but know that in my heart of hearts, this is the only "weigh" to go. Welcome to the tracker, you'll find plenty of support and encouragment here, I know I have. Good luck and congratulations for doing this wonderful thing for yourself, you deserve it!!

Well after the wedding/sans honeymoon! Life is getting to be really routine. Work Home Kids Bed. Usually alone (or with my 3yr old) because hubby is working 11-7 or 7-7. I have lost my gym because it wouldnt fit in the budget so I am left with 4 sets of dumbbells (3-10 lbs) and an exercise bike older than Moses. I do have 2 feet that still work however the rest of my body does not like the cold weather. I have been off BFL for about 3 weeks now. I feel bad, look bad and am really starting to have a bad attitude. Should I just erase everything and start over or just pick up and go on. Not used to exercising with just dumb bells what about leg exercises? Can someone offer some advice? I am at a loss here. Thanks. And it is good to be back. Hugs Dawn

Dawn, it seems like your life threw you a curve ball along with some amazing blessings!
I have been down and out with a back problem so can relate! Just take one day at a time! This is supposed to be for life, not just for Day 34 or Day 62...get back on track and worry about where the starting and ending points are later.
keep moving ahead.

Dawn,
I've been having some blues over the last 2 weeks myself. The two things I've done over those two weeks is to A) keep eating as clean as possible...that is the key to a lot of this B) drink lots of water and C) work out when you can and where you can...it's better to work out a little then not at all...even if it's a brisk walk around your home. Try a jump rope or the bike even thought it's old. Don't worry about it...get yourself back into it easy if you have to and I think you'll find yourself back on track. For some people 12 weeks is enough...for a lot of us it's just keeping up the routine :)

GetHerDone - the best I can come up with is Saint Bernard. Linda could you be more "upbeat" than you are? What the hell kinda dog is that? No dog I tell you, no dog could handle you're hurricane crap, eat tuna from a can, keep up with the workouts, have results, come back stronger than ever.
Jshelton - Hound - too many hunter dogs to name. He's a hunter. When the prey is there he's got it - right in his mouth. When its not, he simply lies in wait; not to worrry its around the corner for him.
There are so, so may more - add to it.

Hey all!
Thanks for the prayers. I just got off of the phone with Porter Freeman! It was so exciting. FitRx has teamed up with EAS during the 2005 Challenge to give away a H2-Hummer or cash value. James has been flown out to Chicago for the weekend to join Porter Freeman and the Fitrx crew. He arrived a few hours ago. HE WON!!!! James won the Hummer! They all just called us with the news. Porter said that he is going to have James take him out for a ride, they're going for hot dogs...lol
Porter is a sweetheart:) Thanks to EAS ,Fitrx and to all of you:)
Congratulations to all of the final 5/6, Brian Baker,Michael Becker, Aaron Ferguson, Nicole Heyrman, Cheryl Muhr, and Russell Pendergrass. You all did such a wonderful job! We'll be voting on the 9th.

A post by flower really got me thinking. Yes she's right, usually its the same people posting threads and answering threads. Maybe what we need is a thread that asks what does your screen name mean, or why are you doing BFL? How about this question: Why do you come to the tracker website? For me, I like this site way more than the BFL guestbook because you can actually see reponses to your questions as they come in. The reason I come here is I need all the support I can get. I dont know how many of you have a food addiction, or are a compulisve overeater, but suffering from that makes this even more of a challenge. So the reason I come here is because I need people to kick me in the butt sometimes.
So why do you come here? What is your intention for reading the threads? Tell us! :)

I like coming here because it keeps me inspired, accountable, and informed.
In 12 weeks, I want to be a success story too.

I come here for the support. This forum really keeps me accountable. It's hard to post your pics and stats, but that is what kept me going. I wanted and wanted everyone else to see that yes I could make a change.
I don't think that I would've made it through my first challenge without this site.
Point in case my DSL has been down and I have been doing rotten the past two weeks. Week one eating was good, workouts nonexistent and week two eating atrocious and workouts good. So coming to this site makes me want to get up and workout and eat clean, so that when I post my pics and stats everyone who views my profile can see that yes SHE DID IT and so can I!!!!!
