I'm having problems finding the trendy jeans to fit me! I have to go up several sizes if I try juniors. Last night I was disgusted when I tried on some clothes, and tried on size 9's and I couldn't get into them because my legs are too big! By the time I go up enough for them to git me in the legs, they are about 4 inches too big in the waist and about 5 inches too long! Uggh. Guess I'll stick to the same ole Levi's and Gap!

Question? What exactly is a self-removed member? Is that someone who makes up a profile (probably someone already a regular member) just to bash someone and then remove it so no-one can check the profile? I just recently saw the self-removed member thing and was wondering about it. Now, I'm missing something else...what's with the duct tape? I've been out of the cyber loop for about 2 weeks due to no internet and am going to have to go back and catch up on everything around here....so I'll be busy.

I don't remember ever dreaming of being anything... Probably because of all the fighting between my parents, the divorce and then the chaos of raising 4 boys on her own.
But then again I STILL haven't grown up so I guess I'll have to think about it!

I am still dreaming of what I want to be when I grow up. In college I majored in undecided, then changed it to accounting then computer-aided drafting and never did finish. In highschool, I wanted to be a musician or an artist or perhaps even a journalist or a research scientist. In junior high I wanted to be an archeologist or maybe join the peace corps. My mom totally flipped out about the peace corps. I wanted to travel the world and help people. I still want to do those things. Right now I am doing customer service over the phone and am starting to feel burned out. I need to find a real career. My problem when I was younger was that I liked too many things. Now, nothing sounds particularly appealing. I wish there was a career search that could be done besides just taking an interst/aptitude test.
Body for Life Forum Message by gymbeamin' (960 posts) at 04:59 AM
for as long as I can remember I had wanted to be a teacher, since about the age of 5.
Parents didn't have the $$$ for college & this was before girls were awarded any decent scholarship $$$ here in Ga.
So, I took all the business courses I could in HS and went to a Technical School to get an Associates Degree in Accounting (finished just a month before Matt....my 20 year old, was born).
So, I've been in bookeepping/accounting in one way or another forever.
Currently I'm a Manager in a local Bank, I do enjoy my job...that's always a plus!

Ah Gymbeamin', we have something in common! I still have the "When I grow up" poster I made when I was six years old. I said I wanted to be a teacher and. . .I am a teacher! I love it! I'm taking a bit of time out now but I can't wait to get back. I teach high school by the way. . .no place for wimps! LOL.
Oh, and I haven't grown up either. The headteacher stills calls me to the office for detention.

Actually, I wanted to be a singer when I was little.
Once I realized that I couldn't carry a tune in a bucket, I changed my mind.
I gave my brother a shirt as a gift for being in my weding.. It reads something like this:
"My Mom once told me that I could be anything I wanted. So I became an asshole."
Guess it runs in the family.

Love4kids...very interesting. I thought my 8 yr old was being original by wanting to be a dolphin trainer.
As for me...let's see...first I wanted to be a stewardess then around when I was 14 or so, I realized I wasn't going to be tall enough. Sooo then I decided I wanted to be an interpreter for the United Nations. Not quite sure why I didn't pursue that one...I have a knack for languages.
I ended up being an accountant...I know...BORING. I did it for years, started my own little business so I could stay home with my kids. In the last year or so my life has taken another turn. I now work as a controller in the marine industry (partners in the business). But because it's such a small company I get to do some sales, boat shows, travel etc. It's FUN FUN FUN :)

If you think I'm gay, fine, but PLEASE stop telling people that I am.
I've lost count of the PM's (Supporting my apparently gay lifestyle) that I've gotten over the last week because there are a few of you that seem to be making things worse.
I don't know how much more clear I can make it.
I was divorced earlier this year FROM A WOMAN after 5 years.
I just went on 2 dates WITH A WOMAN in the last couple of weeks.
I have no desire to play lightsabers with some other guy's sausage.
What else do you people want from me???
While I'm really glad that there are so many of you that are supportive of alternative lifestyles, what about the straight, single guy??
Let's be supportive of him, too, eh?
I love my gay friends, don't get me wrong, but one penis in my bedroom is plenty for me.
And that's all I have to say about that.
NOW STOP FUCKING SPREADING RUMORS.
Body for Life Forum Message by Persephone (308 posts) at 12:10 PM
Um, please don't get mad at me . . .
BUT YOU LIVE AT LEAST 5,000 MILES AWAY FROM ME!!
Why would I care about your sex life? You're a great guy, KMACHATE. But no matter if you're gay or straight we'll never sleep together. I guess I might be concerned if we were like, I don't know, NEIGHBOURS or something.
But you do look cute in those Sponge Bob shorts. . .
It's difficult to tell if you're really offended or just feeding the fire.
Love, Persephone
Body for Life Forum Message by kmachate (512 posts) at 12:15 PM
I'm irritated, I guess that wasn't clear? :P
It has nothing to do with whether or not you and I would ever be bunkmates, unless it was already 2012, in which case I'll be visiting for the Olympics :)
It's more the fact that I have repeatedly said that I prefer women, yet I STILL CONTINUE to get PM's about it. (The most recent becasue of Flower's post, which I still am not sure she got my point, but that's a different story..)
I'm just trying to get my point across as clearly as possible.

Body for Life Forum Message by LOVE4KIDS (18 posts) at 01:23 PM
Hi kmachate. I am kind of new around her but I just want to say..... the posts implying you were gay just made me think the opposite is the truth. He can't take anything with Creatine in it, it gives him massive headaches? Any info you can give me to help whip him into shape would be great. He's lean, but is starting to get a gut on him. If he won't quit eating crap, he'll never do it. I think I can get an Amen all around there.. I actually went for 4 weeks prior to that (not following EFL at all) and got absolutely nowhere.
As soon as I went with EFL approved recipies, cut out sugar in almost everything, it happened.

Just last week from my dear hubby...(I have long, skinny fingers) Referring to my hands, he says..."they look like webs!" Gee thanks hon, love you too! lol
Said to me by my sister..."for such a little thing, you sure have fat calves!" (I'm feeling the love, really I am!)
Said to me by a male co-worker in a different office, referring to my phone voice...."you really should think about getting a job with a 900 service!" (uh? don't really know how to take that one!) This has actually been said to me by several different people over the years! What's with that?

I had a former co-worker who was just an absolute bitch. I had gotten a haircut that everyone was complimenting. Strangers in the store would stop me and rave about it and ask me where I had gotten my hair done - it was that kind of haircut. Several days after I got it cut she looked at me with her face all scrunched up, tilted her head to the side and pronouned "You know, your hair really isn't that bad now that I've gotten used to it." This is actually an example of her being nice.

Hi Patti. I had the same problem and I bought these no kill mouse traps. They didn'twork. So I had to get mean and bought these D-con plastic black traps from Target. I put peanut butter in them. They worked great and my one mouse was actually a family of five. Hope this helps. Karyn
Body for Life Forum Message by reesecupsmom (18 posts) at 09:22 PM
I can't get the traps that snap because of my dog, cat, and little girl. Had an incident with my dog once and i had to pry it off of his tongue and i could not stop the bleeding. i can just see that happening again. As for glue traps, what happens after they are stuck on them. That too happened, I used peanut butter also, and the little things screamed and I had to drive to my aunts at 12 midnigh and get my uncle to come and deal with it...I should have mentioned that i am absolutly terrified of mice.

kmachate....get a grip man, c'mon...
Tracey's being serious here.
I've only been here a short while compred to some of the rest of you, BUT, I've seen exactly what your talking about.
Stone Oak was one of the first here to really get in there and give me advice in my first couple of weeks...he's gone (I think because of the hub-bub last in September....ya'll remember that, right?)
Goddessa....remember that mess? Said she be around, but haven't heard too much out of her in weeks.
others seem to be posting less and less.
I enjoy everyone here, your all so helpful, so motivational, and so damn much fun.
Speaking of threads that ask "what does your screen mane mean?" and "why are you here?".......I've been o the site for about an hour now, and there both here , somewhere.....
I just thought I'd stop at a couple of other threads (like this one) first.
Now, I'm off to post on those.
Kmachate.....missed ya!!! (grrrrruuuuf)

There was a mess on tracker back in the spring. I was in about week nine and I ended up getting so upset about it that I let it put me off the programme altogether. It took me all summer to pull myself together and come back to tracker. I've learned to watch for one thing: If an inflammatory post comes up, I look to see how many posts the person behind the profile has made. Very often (as in SOME of the responses to the "£*^ing candy" post and "Suzanna White"), the person causing the problems has only contributed one or two posts. Ignore them! Either they'll redeem themselves in later posts or disappear altogether. I have noticed quite a few people who got caught up "those" threads have not returned to tracker. And that, tracker buddies, is a tragedy!
The other thing. . .I post here to encourage people, to catch up on news but I blog to spill my guts, to write about things that don't quite have a place here on tracker (like my children or my pets or anything not BFL related that you guys might not be interested in). In my mind, blogging and tracker serve two very different purposes. I could be wrong though. . .
I named myself after the goddess of the underworld. Why? Because I was going through a rough time but I felt along the way, I was discovering secrets and treasures I might not have found if I hadn't gone through all that. One of those things has been personal empowerment. What the hell do you do once you discover you have power? Reach out and help others find theirs!
Here at tracker, we have the tremendous opportunity to help someone on their way to health and fitness. One of us may be the one who says the right thing that helps someone be a little happier or even live a little longer. Surely that must take a few dents out of the halo?

Hey Tracey! I'm embarrassed to say that I don't drive in this ludicrous city! I've had my licence for 17 years, but people are nuts here. I just take public transit. Persephone.....how do you look to see how many posts a person has made, I find that very interesting
Body for Life Forum Message by Persephone (308 posts) at 08:13 AM
It's at the bottom left hand side, just above "ignore" which is in blue. You've made 940 posts and this is my 300th! Also "registered" says how long a person has been a member of tracker. I've been here since Feb 2005 and you've been here since Sep 2005. I think if we all paid a little more attention to this, certain posts wouldn't get attention they don't deserve. . .

To be inspire and be inspired. To get support but also give it. To share a common goal and face common challenges. Are we our brother's keepers? Well yes, in many ways we are.
I have only been with this site for a short time. Yet I have found that there are some genuine people here that have the same desire to get and stay fit. With so much sadness in the world it's good to have a place where we can share some joy.

I come here to give and get support. The profiles of the people who have really gave the program their all and have been such a success, whether they have won a contest or not, is always an inspiration to me and usually give me a good kick in the rear when I'm in a rut and ready to give up. I have been away from the boards for almost 2 weeks now, and I think it has given me enough time to collect my thoughts and think about what I want. Coming back here to look at pictures that were put up since I have been gone really show me what can happen in a couple of weeks if you really work hard. A great source of motivation here.

I came to Tracker during my challenge all the time - mainly to look at the pictures because they are really what inspired me the most. The profiles here set the bar VERY high...people like kmachate and khubbard and cfingram and go4steffie and Tracy Jeffries and I could go on and on...looking at them made me lift heavier and run faster. I posted when I got frustrated and always received positive reassurance.
Now I come to Tracker because I'm hopeful someday I can return a FRACTION of the inspiration and support I have been given.

I came to Tracker in Feb '05... at the beginning of my 2nd Challenge. I was searching for any information I could get to make my BFL lifestyle a success. I received so much information... and encouragement. I still come to Tracker daily to get information, but also to share in what I've learned in the last year, and to help encourage ANYONE who may want to give up. Because BFL works... and it is a passion for me now to share the hope of a healthy, fit life with someone else.

Speaking today to a great friend of mine in Australia. She told me of some of the discrepencies in the 2005 "Body-for-Life" competition, and I thought it was important that you all should know.
1. The voting was started on a Friday afternoon here around Midday which was 6am on a Saturday morning in Australia (Huge advantage to our fellow Americans)
2. They did server maintenance in which no-one can vote between 12 midnight to 6am here which is the middle of the day in Australia.
3. It was Titled America Votes not even considering that anyone outside of the U.S would consider voting.
4. They ended the voting at midday here on a Friday again around 6am on a Saturday morning.
5. After overcoming these obstacles and finishing top in the public vote they didn't even have the respect to send someone over there to notify him, not even a phone call. He found out the way the rest of us did by looking on the website.
6. They are going to start the vote again on a Friday.Saturday morning in Australia.
Is this the way he should be treated? Like a token Competitor because he's not from America. He must feel like he has no chance being a Non-American as an international has never won before and it we won't make the playing field level. EAS should treat everyone equal and respect his achievments as much as everyone elses! Good luck to him but don't expect the red carpet because your not an American!

I think it's funny how first time posters have so much to say AFTER the results are in. No one from the UK were even in the finalists' list and are we crying in our PG Tips? Heck no, we're banding together (nudge nudge UK BFL'ers) so we're not going to be ignored next year. Be prepared: THE BRITISH ARE COMING.
Oh Sorry. . .
Seriously, Gary, please don't whinge. . .especially not on your first post. Sets a bad precedent not only for you but for the Aussies as well. Be graceful and make plans for next year.
Love, P ;)

I just wonder how Gary's "friend" came of all this information.
Sounds like some of it might be (OMG) her opinion.
Alot of us are in different time zones, and a great deal of it is done via computer (which has a time variance, according to where you live), how would you suppose they make it FAIR?
And, Kevin I remember the post your talking about, he stated very clearly that he had received a CALL.
As I recall, I called him out about that post he made, and I caught some flack for it....it's okay, I'm grown, if I dish it, I can certainly take the heat.
I can't help but wonder;
now that we're getting down to the wire, will he be back on tracker in 2006?
since he's done so well in 2005 will he share his inspiration and motivation with others OR will he take all that he's done and move on down the road?
Only time will tell.
Funny how things work out, right?

I kinda wonder just how much the voting really affected the end result of who ended up in the final 6. Elizabeth Miller didn't make it and she was one of the leaders for votes...heck...she even had a tracker thread dedicated to her backside :)
In all due respect Gary, I really don't see what you are griping about. Aaron made it into the top 6. If anyone has the right to be disappointed I would think it would be those finalists who were at the top of the voting list but didn't make the cut.
Have you ever done the trip from the US to Australia...it's a lonnng way. Sure Aaron may be a tad disappointed that Porter didn't show up on his doorstep...but if I were him...that would just be a minor flash in the back of my mind as I was doing cartwheels around my house cause I made the cut.

I wonder what kind of fine Australian Whine would go best with that "cheesy" post of Gary "Peace." I also wonder why his anonymous Aussie friend didn't tell us this herself? Maybe the Tracker server doesn't work over there either??? Right!
Body for Life Forum Message by kek (3 posts) at 10:44 PM
OK guys, here's some facts for you. I don't know who Gary's friend is, but she's dead right. Aaron did get a call a couple of weeks back to say he was in the Top 15. Woohoo, great! But when it came down to being notified about the Top 5 (or 6 as it turns out), as of yesterday, he'd heard nothing.
The "America Votes" thing did get up our noses a bit - and I'm sure the Canadians felt the same way too, not to mention South Africa, England, blah, blah, blah. But that wasn't a big deal. The server maintenance thing WAS a problem, a lot of people missed out on voting that day. But oh well, it didn't make a difference in the long run.
But to not notify a Top 5 finalist before posting the results on the net....well, that's pretty poor form.
The guy's made the top 6 out of how many squillion entries, and NOBODY CAN LET HIM KNOW????
Body for Life Forum Message by Aaron Ferguson (9 posts) at 10:55 PM
With all due respect to Mr Peace and his friend's opinion. His( and his friends) point of view wasn't shared by anyone I've spoken to or communicated within Australia or in any other part of the world. It certainly wasn't how I felt or viewed the situation at all. I'm elated to be included in the top 6. How could you feel anything but that? I also have to say that I believe the point of the voting period was designed specifically to raise the awareness of the program through the interest a competition (voting preiod) generates. I really enjoyed the experience as did so many people I was in contact with, and none of them even mentioned the above circumstances. No I didn't receive a surprise visit so it was even more of a surprise to see my name included. But disappointed was the furtherest emotion from my body at that time. As I get to go to New York which has been one of my child hood dreams! I would ask that if Mr Peace sees an injustice being done that he is quite welcome to pm me as the only person all these situations would really affect is me.( and it hasn't).
Take care all and I so look forward to finally meeting some of you when I'm in the U.S
Aaron
p.s For those of you that mentioned my lack of presence lately. It is a conscious decison to keep a low profile at the momment, whilst the competition is on as it seemed because of the timing of my introduction to ruffle a few feathers, as if the situation had been reversed I too would be a little suspicious. That's not to say I don't visit this site almost every day and converse with lots of people regularly but onlt through PM. I will be more prominent once it's all over, and then your get really bored at the amount I have to say.(;>
Have a great day.( Is it really that cold in NY? )

well my 2 cents worth and thats about what it is. The people that made it to the finalists deserve our respect and admiration for a job well done (doesnt matter where they are from) and post started like this one should be ignored. Congrats to all.
Body for Life Forum Message by kek (3 posts) at 11:21 PM
LOL sorry Aaron - but hey, you deserve the same treatment as the other finalists. Sure it's a long way to come, but there were other options...EAS does have an office in the city where you live after all, and we do have telephones here. SOMEONE could have told you and made a big thing of it.
I just think it's a shame that there hasn't been a big deal made of your achievement. It kind of takes a bit of the gloss off it.
By the way, I wasn't trying to speak for you, I know you've had nothing but good things to say about the whole experience. But then, you're a nice guy. :p And maybe I'm just cranky today.

I have always been interested in native american things..pictures of indian maidens, wolves, etc.
"DreamCatcher" has a lot deeper meaning to me that one might think. It pretty much sums up my outlook on life....here is just a quick definition of the legend of the dreamcatcher...
"..in each time of life there are many forces; some good and some bad. If you listen to the good forces, they will steer you in the right direction. But if you listen to the bad forces, they'll steer you in the wrong direction, and may hurt you..."
The superstition of the dreamcatcher is that it catches the good dreams through the web like outer rim, and the bad dreams leave through the hole in the center.
Told you it was deep!

I did finally find Nicole. Yes her transformation is stunning.
I think I just really blew a gasket. You don't have to agree with me but what that was all about was frustration. A build up over days of logging on and finding the same topics over & over. Of course you do not have to share my opinion & I don't want to rehash what I've already said on my previous psycho rant. I just miss the way it used to be, the commraderie that was here. Its not anyone's fault but my own that I don't find it in T Shirts, fundraising or prayers. I know many of you will shake your heads in disgust at me, but thats just how I feel. Seems I've lost the filtration system from my brain to my keyboard.
I do know however there are others out there that feel the same, but at the same time would be ashamed of how I handled that. The harshness was unnecessary and for that I sincerely apologize. When I say I'm wrong and I'm sorry I truly mean it.
I wholly agree that it appeared to be targeted at Nicole; I assure you that was not the case, just plain frustration. Furthermore, I'm not following my own advice to just ignore what I'm not liking. Instead, I lost it, opened up my big mouth and SPLAT! I'm sorry guys.

As for seeing the same old threads...I think you have actually been missing a lot of them (ie..the calendar thing, nicole being one of the finalists, etc). There were several uplifting ones, and hysterical ones just a little while back. SweetEmotion started one about most embarrasing moments which was just too comical. I don't think these threads go on every day, but they are there..if you don't log in as much as you used to, they may be closer to the bottom because they aren't being kept alive as much as before. However...I don't really believe this is really what's getting to you, and I'm going to leave it at that.

So, I started BFL while my dh was away for business. He's now home and I've completely fallen off the program. Eating chocolate and pizza. Blah! I feel like I need to cook him dinner and make him what he likes but at the same time I want to stay on plan. I just don't know what to do. Any of you have success completing a challenge while your spouse doesn't? I'd love for him to do this with me but he has shown no interest.

I've had lots of success with BFL and my husband sort of does it. He travels a lot too, but here are a few things that have worked for me. When we do eat together (I have 2 kids also) it's almost always from the EFL book, I refuse to cook 2 or even 3 dinners. And really, eating from the EFL book doesn't feel like you're eating diet food at all. Almost any favorite can be adjusted to be BFL friendly. Now there are times when I do have to make exceptions. If I feel like I need to make them something special but it's not time for me to have a free meal then I just eat something easy. I always have something that I can just throw together. Sometimes eating has to be more about feeding your body than pleasure.
My sister-in-law has this same problem with her husband who eats out EVERYDAY and he has absolutely no desire to do BFL (even though he should). I told her to have a serious talk with him and explain the program and then plan for free days with him in advance.
You can do all of these things, but the most important thing you are going to have to do is BE STRONG and not give in to temptation. It takes practice, and in the beginning it's hard, but if you want BFL to work, the eating plan is 80% of your success and your eating has to be clean, clean, clean.
Good luck!!

the efl book has some delicious recipes that everyone loves.

I have gotten to the point that if my husband wants me to fix something that I don't feel is on plan for me, I make him fix it himself. My kids aren't picky eaters and will eat anything I fix...mainly because I don't make them eat tofu or organic stuff. If I want any of that stuff (minus the tofu) I will buy small quantities just for me. If he wants to go out to eat, I make sure I pick the healthiest thing I can find on the menu, and it's not always a salad. I have been struggling with a sprained ankle for the past 2 weeks so standing in the kitchen isn't on top of my list, but I have still been eating healthy and hubby knows that I am trying to lose weight and that I'm not going to be able to do it eating burgers and fries (which I don't eat anymore unless made at home). Good luck and I sure hope things work out for you.

You were in there all along ...
There has a lot of excitement lately with the announcement of the six EAS finalists. A lot of other Tracker people have made some outstanding changes too, such as Sylvia (Cookie1135) who just posted her 12 week photos.
I only mention those ones because they are so recent, within the past 24 hours, and if I start naming names I'm bound to make an error of omission. Besides, all you have to do is check out the profiles.
The thing is that when I look at any of the before and after pictures of those who have successfully completed a challenge, I have a tendency to focus on the changes they've made -- and it just flips me out sometimes. They can be astounding, even unbelievable (although I know it's true). It's just mind boggling sometimes how they've come so far and look so good.
Yet it's wrong to focus solely upon the results, to give credit after the fact. It's rather shortsighted. The credit, the praise, and the glory should not just go to the person in the "after photo," but to who that person was in the beginning, and what he or she became and endured during the process of "getting to" the after photo.
The "after" photograph is a static image. It focuses only upon the destination and totally ignores the journey. Perhaps it is better to imagine the actions that led to its creation.
The photograph doesn't show the ...
"I wore my running shorts to bed so I could jump out at 5 a.m. ready-to-go" cardio sessions;
the "Thought I couldn't lift another inch but got it done anyways" highpoint in the weight room;
all the times when they thought, "I'm not even sure I stick this out:;
and that silent and unannounced victory over the cheesecake someone had brought into work.
All of these things -- the sweat, the discipline, the sacrifice and commitment -- are difficult to capture within a photograph, but they are exactly the things that made the after photograph possible. People really do "transform," and it's more than skin deep.
A good example is Cheryl Muhr (Profile: Averismommy). If you check out her threads and messages you can get an idea of the process and changes she went though. It may even give us an understanding of why EAS thought she was a champion. The same kind of thing happened to Sylvia. It's kinda' neat to watch!
My point is that as it is with them so it is with any of us, from the newest member to the vets. And who is to know what the next 12 weeks will bring to the person who joins today? You just never know.
So when you're out there "doing it" remember to love the person you are, commit to the vision of what you want to become, and give yourself credit during the struggle, because that is really where the glory lies -- and as for the results? Stick with it and they will come.
And when it's time to take your after photo remember this: There's more to it than meets the eye. And guess what?
You were in there all along.
---------------------------------------------
Well, it's just something I was thinking about. So there you go. My best to all of you.
Yours in fitness, Larry

The benefit of this challenge is we can see the differences in our bodies, but we also know the difference on the inside with our positive outlook! I think that is better than the body change!

The last few weeks I found myself at somewhat of a plateau and so after reading some posts about the infamous "hell diet" I decided to tweek my eating a little. The first thing I did was remove all bread, pasta and potato as carbs and replaced them with oatmeal, fruit and sweet potato. This helped get me down about 2.5lbs and then I came across this diet which I followed for 4 1/2 days:
RAPID FAT BURNING – Follow for 1 week.
Meal #1
4 oz. turkey breast
3 egg whites
½ Grapefruit or ½ cup omelet vegetables
2 Flax Oil Capsules
Meal #2
Protein Drink: 2 scoops Muscle Provider (or other protein powder), 4 frozen strawberries or peach slices, 12 oz water
or
Whole Food Option: 3.5 oz (snack pack can) tuna and 1 tomato
Meal #3
5 ounces chicken (weighed prior to cooking)
2 cups salad (lettuce, tomato, carrot, cucumber, green peppers, etc.) 1 TBS. Vinegar and 1 tsp. Sunflower Oil (or other vegetable oil) for a dressing
Meal #4
(same as meal #2)
Meal #5
6 ounces lean meat (chicken, fish, strip sirloin, lean beef, etc.) 1 cup vegetables 2 Flax Oil Capsules
IMPORTANT – DO NOT SKIP – EAT ALL FOODS AS LISTED
Monday and Thursday: Substitute the following for your 5th meal at the end of the day:
¾ cup oatmeal (before cooking) or 3/4 cup cooked brown rice,
4 oz. sweet potato
small banana
1 cup vegetables
1 TBS. butter
NO SUPPLEMENTS WITH THIS MEAL
I hope this all comes out right when I post it and you can see what the breakdown is.
Anyhow, thanks to Skwigg (Renee) who is the moderator of the BFL Women's group on Yahoo and I know a lot of you read her webpage and blog. She didn't create this diet, but posted it for us to see.
So, the great news is I followed for 4 1/2 days and lost almost 4 pounds. It wasn't that awful either, I really didn't feel hungry, but my HIIT suffered due to lack of carbs and energy, weights were okay. If you're looking for a kick start off a plateau, try this, it worked for me. I did switch Meal 4 with Meal 5 as I tend to get hungry before I go to bed.
Last night I had my free meal (and it was a doosie from Culvers (my fave) double burger, fries, hot fudge sundae) and now I'm back to no bread, pasta or potatoes, so I hope I keep the 4lbs off, we'll see.

So we're driving home from the gym last night and I hear suddenly from the back seat 'Mommy you should never give up'. This catches my attention and Bethany goes on to explain that a little girl at school 'gave up' on something and she(Bethany) was never going to give up cause you're not supposed to give up.
So that is my lesson for today that I am trying hard to remember...

Body for Life Forum Message by Larry (95 posts) at 04:04 PM
How do they get so smart? From watching their mothers and fathers!
I've always knew that, but BFL gave me new insight into it. Many parents who start BFL report how their young children "pick-up" on new ideas and eating habits without direct instruction. They are always watching, always listening. It's cool, a little frightening, and illustrates just how much we influence them.
You must be doing good!

Hey, you don't NEED to have 6 meals. No one expects you to squeeze in or choke down a meal you don't need. Really you just need to focus on 5 to 6 meals of QUALITY food 2 to 3 hours apart with strength training and high intensity cardio on alternate days.
Do what you can with what you've got. Incorporate as much as you can of THE PLAN as you possibly can every day.
Plan your week and the more 'on plan' or 'successful days' you can string together the better you will be.
But just remember, a day slip here and there is not the end of the game. It is how many GOOD DAYs you have relative to the bad that matters.
Please stick with it. You can do this. One day at a time - with a plan - and a goal.
YOU CAN DO THIS!
Body for Life Forum Message by SweetEmotion (932 posts) at 07:33 PM
It's tough for me too. I do shift work and sometimes 12 hour days. It's hard to pack everything the night before for the next 12 hours. Did you mean you can't find time to schedule it and make it or you just can't eat 6 meals? If not, then take things like protein bars or shakes.
Lori
Body for Life Forum Message by Framed (31 posts) at 08:12 PM
I don't think i've ever gotten 6 meals in me in one day. But I noticed that my non-fat milk gives me a pretty even breakdown of protein and carbs. So I'll count a glass of milk as a quick meal. I also drink milk in my coffee so I think it counts toward more protein and carb.
I also had to eat every 2 -2.5 hours cuz I wasn't awake enough to eat 6 meals 3 or 4 hours apart.
Do what you can. We all have different nutritional needs depending on our size and the other activities we do in a day.
Never give up. This is a fabulous program. It doesn't happen overnight and that is what makes it so good. it is about slow progress made from changing habits in exercise and eating.
Stay with it!

I agree with everyone else. Shakes are great. I work 3 12hr shifts a week in an emergency room...talk about busy. So I eat breakfast right before work have a shake around 11, get lunch about two, have another shake about 5, and then eat whatever my hubby has cooked when I get home at 8 and a bar latater in the evening.
You can do it, it just takees some manuevering.

I may not get a full workout in but at least I try do something everyday. 20 min is better than nothing. You have the basics you just have to do a little tweeaking to make it work for you. Due to one reason or another, someone is going to post on why someone else should of won, or how it's not fair. I wish that we could all agree right now that all of the 6 are worthy of the grand prize, and that no matter what, we will be happy for them. Please prove me wrong by not having an argument on bfl-tracker about who should of, or who shouldn't of won. Just remember, they have all won, they have won an outstanding physique. I was on such a high feeling inspired and inspiring. Then I took a week off for vacation, stayed up several nights with a cranky baby and my routine fell apart. For the past three weeks I've done NO WEIGHTS! I've been feeling tired and draggy...UGH..
I have really been enjoying my morning runs though and get them in almost every day. My eating is slipping a bit too looking for little illegal pick-me-ups to fight off the fatigue...
You see I lost some weight and felt I looked `good enough'.... but my original goal was to get into the best shape of my life, not `good enough'... please give me a kick in the butt.... anyone out there get off track and then pick up the pace again to end the challenge with a bang? I would LOVE to hear some inspiring stories like that.

Hey everyone,
Measured my body fat today and was shocked to find it has only gone down .3%. That's disgusting, I have kicked ass all week on my workouts and eat completely clean. I haven't seen much in the way of changes on my body either. I am getting discouraged. And I am so sick of the 170's and size 16s I could scream. My parents told me last night that they were getting me something big when I hit the 50lb mark...I am at 35 lbs loss right now but I doubt I will ever get there. My goals for this challenge were to get to and 30% BF, size 12, and 18lbs loss. Now those goals seem unattainable. Will I ever get there?
Thanks

Hi Patti!! What method are you using to check your BF%? If it's your scale, I will tell you that for me, I could have taken a dart and thrown it at a wall of numbers and been more accurate/consistent than that scale was from day to day and even from morning to night. If I were you, I wouldn't be discouraged in the least. Have you looked at your pictures?!?! You look AMAZING! I can't believe the changes in your belly....it's outrageous. You absolutely WILL get there. Keep eating clean and hitting your 10s and stop looking at the stupid scale. Scales lie.

Keep going! Don't give up. Do your clothes fit better? If so, who cares what the % says? If you go to the gym, have a trainer takes your BF %. Make sure you use the same person each time, because some might take measurements differently. I need to do that on Monday morning, because I am using the Tania (sp) scale. Good luck and DON'T give up! If you stop now, then you won't know how far you would have gotten!!

I am just having a hard time lately. I have been battling postpartum depression since the birth of my daughter and there are days or weeks even that I just feel bad about myself. I actually went Christmas shopping today and thought I would go into Gap and see if I was still a size 16. I now fit into a size 14. So that was a boost to the ego. I use a little handheld bf analyzer. You place your thumb on metal pieces and it digtally reads it.
Anyhow thanks for all the support. Its just depressing to have a body thats 40% fat.

Patti- when I started BFL I had like 42% body fat and I'm 5'4" and weighed 160lbs. We are the same height, my body fat was higher than yours even though I weighed less. Things could be worse. I am down to 134 and still have 30% body fat, that is depressing (my goal is 20%). This is the way I look at it, I have no choice but to do this, and I'll take any progress I can get even if it's only .2% or whatever. BFL takes time and before you know it, you'll look in the mirror and be amazed at what you see. When I started my first challenge, I thought it would only take one for me to reach my goals, and then after a few weeks I saw that it would take two or possibly three and here I am in week 3 of my third challenge. The point is to focus on the progress you have made, make your body work hard than ever before and things will start happening. Hang in there and don't give up!!!

Hi everybody. Monday will mark the 5th try for me to complete my first challenge. The farthest I have made it so far was mid-fourth week. That was before I gained another 60 lbs. :( So here I go again, with newly written down goals and a bit of optimism that I can finish. I will post some photos soon, since looking at those will be more motivation for me. I also plan on being a pain in the butt around here with a ton of questions, so beware haha.

Hi Greg... Glad you are back!!! I too am new ans I love evryone here!! They are are great bunch of motivators!!! Just take it one day at a time and set a few short term rewards for yourself. I told myself after I made it through two weeks I would treat myself to a facial... It's almost two weeks and although I AM looking forward to that facial I am REALLY proud of myself for sticking with it more importantly. You can do this!!!

Hi everyone,
I've been lurking for awhile and have been enjoying the recipes so I thought I'd share one of my favorites and a staple for me.
I make these patties about 4 oz. each, freeze them and use for rice veggie bowls, pizza with a ww pita, with ww pasta, turkey sausage burgers, I could go on and on......
They are spicy but can be adj. to your liking.
1 package lean ground turkey (Turkey Store) about 1.25 lbs.
Mix in:
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 minced clove of garlic (if you LOVE garlic, add 2)
2 tablespoons fennel seed (you can add more if you like)
1 tablespoon red pepper flakes (I think I add more but try this 1st)
Mix it all together and stack the patties on a cookie sheet with wax paper or saran wrap in between and freeze. Transfer to a freezer bag.
I often buy the 3 or 4 pak at Costco and multiply the other ingredients accordingly and make a huge batch.
When using them added to other things, just cook them up in a frying pan (no oil needed) and add them at the last minute. They don't do well cooking for long in a sauce. I hope you enjoy them as much as our family does :)

Sorry, but still learning the board. Wanted to say that the salt and garlic measurements work great but I guessed on the fennel and red pepper. I just pour it in, so use your own instints there.
