Let me show my confusion.. if we're to increase our eating/calorie intake, to match what is suggested by the calorie counter on the BFL site, then why would we want an appetite suppressant? Please help me with my confusion again.

The head/heart test is a useful tool for me in times of decision. I take a flat-palmed hand, palm down, and place the index finger against the opposite shoulder. Then, I use the hand as a "knife" to separate my head from my heart. I observe what my heart says. I observe what my head says. If there is disagreement between head and heart, I follow what my head tells me. Yes, I said, "I follow what my head tells me." Rational thought is so needed to cross-check emotions, feelings, hormones, and whatever else exists at that level. When we throw out rational thought, our dreams turn into ongoing nightmares. Professional counselors and others in the helping professions specialize in getting the rational thought processes out on the table. Romantic talk about "following your heart" is hogwash. We make decisions. We own our decisions. Our decisions become our lives.

Body for Life Forum Message by goingforbuff (1412 posts) at 09:50 AM:
Pseudo - My advice would be to not have an affair. The devastating effects of an affair changes lives forever, and most always for the worse. I would suggest talking to your husband, seeing a counselor yourself and/or with your husband. Give every effort possible to fixing what is missing in your marriage. If you exhaust all the avenues and still are unhappy and don't see any means of attaining that, then proceed with leaving him. But stay true to him until that time, if it ever comes. You will feel awful about yourself if you don't, not to mention the damage you will do to your husband and if you have kids, them, too. A good thing to do is reverse the situation in your head...how would you want your husband to handle this situation if he was you? How would you feel if he made the decision to have an affair? This might help you make the right decisions. I know this is hard for you. Good luck with everything. Nancy

Are you being honest with us? Are you being true to yourself? I believe if you say your husband is a wonderful man, you ought to stick with that. Maybe you ought to tell him that you are not attracted to him.... Perhaps that would get him off his arss.... At the very least you will find out where you stack up to him.... Marty

The grass is always greenier on the other side of the fence, maybe because it requires more fertalizer. Its not worth it girl, not only will you be known by your friends and family as the "one who had an affair" Word spreads like crazy, and you will live your life with the stigma of your actions. Besides do you want to leave your husband for someone who just wants your T&A, I would at least want someone who loves me for who I am and not because I lost a few pounds. Gosh forbid I gain those pounds back..... MIKE: YOU ARE SO WISE, I really value your opinions, lets hope that this lady can do the same.

Body for Life Forum Message by tonee (94 posts) at 02:08 PM:
I've read everyones responses and tend to agree with them, but there are some questions I would like to raise.

How long have you been with your husband?

How overweight were you before you starting losing?

How did he treat you before you starting losing a few pounds? Did he turn away from you before the weight came off?

I think these are some other questions other than the ones already presented that you should ask yourself.

Always remember that your husband was there before you lost weight. TALK TO HIM he's not a mind reader he's a man.

IS IT REALLY WORTH IT?????? Think long and hard about all the advice you are receiving. Never give up without giving the situation your ALL......

I have to step in here because nobody else here has experienced or admitted that they have experienced these kind of feelings for their significant other. Well, when I read this post, I thought I had typed it! I am really disgusted with my husband right now. When I first started living healthy he started with me and had great results, better results than I got! I was jealous! Then he quit! He says he doesnt have time for it! Whatever! I know exactly how you feel, pseudo. I am right there with you. I look at him when he eats nothing but junk and it really makes me sick. He has gained everything back plus some and it is so unattractive. I would never cheat but when you arent attracted to whats at home you do tend to find others very attractive. Its only natural. I have sat here and read through all of these replies and I am still looking for answers. Someone said something about there being more to the story. In my case there is more to the story and I do sometimes think that I should live life to the fullest and not waste my time on negative people or things. Thats what I feel like I am doing most of the time. But I did take vows and plan to stick with them for now. If things change in the future, I dont know what will happen, but if you need someone to talk to that is on the same side as you, feel free to pm me. Maybe we can help eachother.

Body for Life Forum Message by Can'tStopMe (373 posts) at 03:12 PM:
LEEHIGH: I know I'VE had those feelings of disgust towards my spouse. Who hasn't!? To believe that you can spend the rest of your life with one person and find them attractive ALL the time is unrealistic. Sometimes I look at my husband and am completely repulsed and the repulsion might stay for MONTHS! THAT IS MARRIAGE (my marriage anyway)...plain and simple. If I left my marraige to find someone more attractive...I'd be in for a rude awakening to discover that other person will eventually become equally repulsive at times. I should add that my husband has an incredible body. Other factors of disgust can turn someone off. It's not just a body image. History is what a makes a marriage. You will always fall in and out of love w/your spouse and sometimes you may find you spend more time out. What one should realize is that this is what 90% of people feel in marriage. Your case isn't exceptional. Again...it how you choose to react that will make the difference in your future.

Body for Life Forum Message by SweetEmotion (986 posts) at 03:27 PM:
I have to comment again. I don't know. I have been married twice and had worse problems. At the end of my first marriage I was repulsed everytime he would touch me. BUT...it had nothing to do with the way he looked. It was the way he was abusive to me. He was not an attractive person to begin with but his actions is what made me unattracted to him. I was attracted to him, maybe not as much physical when we got married, but what I am saying is that how I feel about someone is how attracted to them I am. Maybe for you it's deeper than his physical appearance. My boyfriend now even if he gained more weight I would still feel the same about him I am sure. I am crazy about him and can't imagine that it would matter unless his attitude changed and he was lazy and not even trying. The fact that he does BFL and pushes me works for me.

Body for Life Forum Message by donna9214 (11 posts) at 04:17 PM:
Since I have lost my 60 pounds , alot of the guys at work have been making little comments, flirting, most of them are married, and one in particular has flat asked me, saying hes sooooooo attracted to me, and I'll be honest here..I was tempted.
I am not married married anymore but he is and I will not be a party to someone cheating on their spouse, period...and I did tell him this nicely. The guilt is just not worth it.
Now he goes between trying still (flirting) and totally ignoring me..which is fine.
These affairs almost never last long term because the guilt thats associated to it almost always (once the giddy omg he/she's so great feeling wears off) attaches itself to the person u are cheating with, and soon u will not even be able to look at them.
One more thing to consider..its great u are changing your body and getting fit, do you really wanna taint that great accomplishment with lying and cheating? It will hinder what should be a great thing into something ugly and your results will prolly suffer for it.
and could u really sleep with another man and look your husband in the face after? Think about it...I would do everything I could to make the marraige work and accept him AS HE IS, if hes gonna change it will happen when and if hes ready. Huggs and I hope it works out for you.

Body for Life Forum Message by leehigh (73 posts) at 04:56 PM:
Ok I guess I didnt make myself clear. I would NEVER EVER cheat on my husband. I just wanted pseudo to know that she is not alone on the temptations and I didnt want to bash her about her feelings. I think its normal to have many different feelings throughout a marriage. And again my problems are more than skin deep and maybe hers are too. But I am in the process of working on my marriage and just wanted to make sure she knew she wasnt alone. I am not telling her its ok to have an affair, I am just saying that she is not the only one going through this. Thats all!

Unless you have kids and even then I am still not sure. You are married now and there is a commitment in tact to consider. in that case self promises and commitment are on the line. Love, A

I love my son, he is 3.....but he is so much of a hand full, I get NOTHING done but chase after him, he is all over the place, won't listen, won't talk.... Just got his hearing checked and "they" say it is fine.... He is stubborn and going 100 miles a second... Will not communicate with me, not potty trained, won't even look at the potty... Won't sit still at Daycare, picks any and all locks in any place and off he goes... You have to chase him down..., I am so tired and I find myself questioning myself on whether or not I should be a mother... I lose my temper so fast some days but others I take that breath...

Udenia, we all question ourselves with our parenting skills, the choices we make, how well we're doing, how poorly we're doing; me being one of (all of) these extremes. I find myself labelling me as the worst mother, especially when they are misbehaving, showing problems, etc. I do tell myself that my 9 year old is not going to be acting like this at 21; my 4 year old will not be acting like this at 15. Yes, perhaps they'll be worse but its a gamble we all take. Do your best and hope for the best - thats all we can do. Yes, I know, no help whatsoever, but just to let you know, we've all been there - you are not alone and for 100% CERTAIN NO WAY CLOSE TO NOT BEING A GOOD MOTHER. Its usually the "best" mothers that question the job they're doing.

Body for Life Forum Message by RD (39 posts) at 07:33 PM:
You described my 14 yr old at that age. At least you are seeking help early on. My son was diagnosed with adhd when he was 12. Meds help him focus better in school but don't really help with attitude. He also has ODD (oppostitional defiance disorder)He hated anything that kept him restrained. I could not keep him in a highchair or playpen. He climbed out of his crib and tried to take it apart. He even hated pajamas with the footies on them. He could not stand to be restrained in any way. He loved sitting on laps in a rocking chair though but that was something in motion. He use to sit and bang his head against a door or wall until I would stop him. I also had my son's hearing checked because he wouldn't talk much or listen. Even his daycare teachers thought he had a hearing problem. I went through years of teachers and principals trying to tell me I was doing something wrong.I even asked them if they thought he had adhd and if I should get him checked. They said no he has an attitude problem. I always asked why my other 2 kids had no disciplinary problems or learning problems. When my kids were toddlers we used time-outs as behavior modification. Then when they got older I used grounding from things they like or grounding to the house. With him I used to have to put him in his bed, he would get up, I would put him back. We did that for an hour until we were both exhausted and he would finaly serve his few minutes of time-out. At times he was so out of control that I had to pin his arms down to the floor and try not to get bit. I was running a daycare in my home at the time and had several other babies and toddlers to care for. I won't kid you, he can still be a handfull at times. I have had many times when I wanted to give up or send him off to live with his dad (if we could find him.)Yes, I am a single mom too. I always sleep on it when I want to give up and always feel differently in the morning. He is maturing and I don't have as many of those days as I used to. If you stick with consistent, loving discipline it helps. We have had an in-home councelor and another that we see at the same office as our psychiatrist. He has progressed to the point where he is obeying me more than 75% of the time so the in-home councelor was stopped. I have kept in touch with school councelors as well and each year I try to talk to his teachers so that they know his issues and what to expect. I have found I get a lot further by joking and laughing with him than by demanding and giving ultimatums. I also found that if he knows in clear simple terms what the rules are and that there will be consequences, he is more likely to behave. He needs guidlines. Reasoning does not work as well because he has a hard time focusing on the conversation. I have a simple set of house rules that I have used since my children were babies. Some of them are: don't jump or bounce on or off of any furniture. No throwing any object in the house or at the house. Be nice to each other. No violent physical contact, etc. I wrote them down and wrote out what they are grounded from for 1st offense, 2nd offense, etc. If he does get put on meds, make sure he keeps taking them. I take my son off in the summer just to see if he still really needs it. I was taking weekends off but now I notice that by sunday night he is a maniac and can't calm down. When those meds wear off, he is 10 times worse than if he had not been taking them at all until it gets completely out of his system. As long as he takes them every day, he does pretty good. I have to look at the things I like about him and compliment him on those things. His self esteem was not so good after so much disciplinary action at school and he has even had teachers yelling at him. I try not to yell but I have my bad days. A calm voice is always better with any child. The fact that you care about the whole thing and bothered to post on here is proof that you are a good and caring mother. If you were a bad mother you would have left before this or would not care enough to ask. You are doing what you can by seeking help. A good book to read is "123 magic" I forget who the author is. Barnes and Noble should have it still. It was recommended to me after my son spent time in the childrens psych ward of a hospital after threatening to kill himself. We used to have some really scarey times with him threatening others or himself; things are so much better now than they were. I remind myself of that each time we have a bad day now. ( I remember times of him getting knives from the kitchen and threatening his brother, I had to hide the knives for a while.) Some day he will be glad that I never gave up and so will I. I already am. I posted this here rather than a pm because there may be others out there going through the same thing as we are. I still ask "why me" sometimes. He seems to sabotage any relationship with a guy unless he gets a LOT of attention from said guy. I haven't really dated anyone in years. I have friends who have tried to help give him a male role model but eventually got tired or busy with their own lives. We even tried Big Brothers/Big Sisters. That did help some when he was younger but he outgrew it. I definately recommend it for younger kids up to preteen. They screen the volunteers very carefully. Hang in there, keep your chin up and don't let ANYONE make you feel you are not a good parent. Just do the best you can and always always focus on the love in your heart for him. If you had a child with a different handicap such as blindness or maybe in a wheelchair, would you not stick with them and take care of them? A child with a mental disorder is also handicapped. They need love and support and so do you. All those parents with "good kids" have no clue what you go through on a daily basis. Don't let anyone bring you down. Just as long as you know in your heart you have done all you can for yourself and your son. If you ever need anything you can send me a pm or email me upbeatbirdie@yahoo.com. I check my email nearly every day. :^)

Thread: Need motivation and support right now... (86 Views)

Body for Life Forum Message by NCmomof3 (125 posts) at 03:37 PM: Need motivation and support right now...
Over the past year I have attempted maybe 4 or 5 challenges and one thing or another keeps coming up... but yet again I try to start again.  This past winter started with kidney stones, then gall stones and removal of gallbladder in June, then a fall down my stairs which ended with torn tendons and ligaments in my ankle... now my "Irish Twin" sister has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia as of last Friday and she is really sick right now.  It hit very fast.  So, instead of dropping weight, I have put on about 15 pounds since last year.  Of course the health problems are to blame for most but since I found out about my sister I can't stop eating and my face is breaking out like a teenager.  I'm very worried about her and scared to think of what could happen.  I keep thinking I could use this as motivation to run a marathon - but I have to have dedication and motivation to train for such an event.  And running on an ankle that is still healing with 15 extra pounds isn't that easy.

I want to do this for her and others - hopefully raise some money and show her how much she means to me and what I will do for her since there's really nothing else I can do at this point.  If she needs a bone marrow transplant of course I will be right there and I pray that I'm a match or one of our other 2 sisters are...  there are four of us so the likelihood is great that one of us is a match.  We should know next week if she needs one.

Do anyone have any experience with marathon training?  I want to do this for her and hopefully I will drop the excess weight I have put on... oh - did I mention I'm a single mom of 3 (12, 5, 3) so timing and schedules are critical.  I usually workout on my lunch hour because I really have no other time to do so.

Thanks for letting me vent - I needed another good cry.  Any suggestions or advice would be great.

Thanks!
Susan

I ran the London Marathon this year, as motivation to get me started on a healthy eating and fitness plan. I've now lost close to 50lbs and feel a lot healthier and fitter than ever. I don't have kids, but I was finishing university and was under a lot of preasure to study and revise for my final exams, leaving me with very little time to train during the week, and two months before the marathon I totally burned myself out! Finally I went to a gym and sat down with a trainer, (I never had a personal trainer, but I did talk to one), and she told me the best thing to do was clear out 1 afternoon per week and dedicate it to training. That's all. Just one. Any other exercise during the week would be a bonus, but I didn't have to hit the gym. I started jogging home from work which is 5 miles, and at first I had to jog a mile, walk a mile. Then I found that not using the elevators at work, and jogging up them added to my stamina. I suggest you put the toddler in the stroller and jog around the park a few times each day, and try to use your legs more than your car. When I eventually ran the marathon, which was 26 miles, I couldn't run the whole way. I ran maybe 7 miles then walked 3, then ran 4 and walked 1. It was really stop/start, but I did complete it and it felt great. I'd also suggest you ckeck out the marathon you want to participate in, some cities have running groups who train several times per week, for people of all different fittness levels. Good luck to you, it's a very admirable thing you're doing and I think you're a very brave lady. Jules x

Body for Life Forum Message by NCmomof3 (125 posts) at 04:07 PM:
Thank you Jules. That's probably what I'll have to do - run/walk. I just have so much going through my head right now and I know if I channel all this into something I want that will not only help me but others as well I can do it. I just need to get the ball rolling. I just need to chalk this year up to bad luck and push through it. I will see if my gym has someone who can help me get started! Thanks for your support!

Body for Life Forum Message by Rock-Chick (182 posts) at 04:19 PM:
You're most welcome! :) It might also be a good idea to get a group of people to do it with you. That way you'll have a support system around you! I forgot to say that I completed a mini fun run a few weeks before the marathon. It was only 12 miles, but it really did teach me a lot about pacing myself and breathing before I hit the big one. Try and find these kinds of events to participate in if you can, because they really do help. Jules x

Your health problems may be because you have been idle for a long time. You've been idle because you live for others, your schedule, and not yourself. Did you ever read the BFL book? Start there if you have not. I don't coddle I push.... Lace them up and stop making excuses. Your mind is the first thing you need to get in order, the rest will fold right into place. Oh did I mention, my knees were shot, my sister died of cancer last year, I have children in college, I have a 10 hour a day job, etc, etc etc etc.... Marty

I live in Cedar Rapids, IA. I moved here in 1994. My daughter's dad, my fiance at the time happened to find he had a family of mutual friends with me and we went to visit them upon invite. We saw how clean the city was. Not a lot of crime at that time and lots of jobs in the paper. It seemed to be thriving and had a town atmosphere. People were friendly unlike in bigger cities. Since then things have changed. Our neighborhood has more crime now. Each year I get more and more tired of the cold winters. This is a little further north than central IL where I grew up. I long to move to a warmer climate but hate to pull my kids away from friends and school. My oldest will graduate hopefully in a couple years as long as his grades stay up. My other 2 said they wouldn't mind moving. There are things I like about it. I live close to a bike trail that goes on for miles and miles to the next city. There are lots of parks that are well kept and beautiful with walking trails. Noel Ridge park is my favorite. You run past lilac bushes and the tennis courts and a creek. There is a duck pond and farmers market visits 3x a week. There is a huge flower garden there in summer months and a public pool complete with water slides. We spend a lot of time at the park in the summer. It was even featured in Sports Illustrated this past year I was told. We also don't pay taxes on food items at the store and have a good hospital too that is a 10 min drive away from our house. My 14 yr old has had many trips to the emergency room for his various stunts and bumps and bangs at school and elsewhere. Ok, guess I had to convince myself why I am staying here through another winter.

We live in central Michigan, near Lansing, the capital. We've been here nearly 9 years, moving from Wichita Kansas. I came here to take a job, and I currently work for the State of Michigan as a magistrate. My appointment is up in late January and I am unlikely to be reappointed due to a difference in my political party and the people who could reappoint me. We just don't know where we'll go or what we'll do. Many possibilities but things are pretty bleak in Michigan for jobs, so it's likely we'll move, either back to Kansas, or to Las Vegas or Iowa where our children live. Maybe Virginia. We'll see soon enough.

It's not really a secret, but it's something very few people know about me. I'm an evangelist. Not a preacher, but just a speaker, and I go seasonally to dinner meetings around Michigan and in the region, telling my Christian testimony to adult audiences, and giving an invitation to make a life-changing decision. Most people are so shocked to see a Christian lawyer/politician doing such a thing, but I enjoy it, though I only do it 2 or 3 times a year.

I guess the only "secret" I have, which I have actually told to many people but have never put on the BFL guestbook, is that I won the Labrada Nutrition Lean Body Challenge in Spring 2004 for the over 50 category. I'm quite proud of it, but I never mention it on the guestbook as it is definitely bad form to promote another company's products or contests on the guestbook provided by EAS, plus there's always some "purist" who thinks it's treasonous if you even use someone else's products--let alone win one of their contests.

Body for Life Forum Message by TracyJeffries (1278 posts) at 11:43 AM:
From Jerry Braam's website.... Soda on days besides a free day? I'm sure you already know that answer! As for DIET soda. That is a common question. The use of DIET on the label often confuses people. Just because it has lower calories doesn't mean that it is okay to ingest. Both Soda & Diet Soda have many factors that will severley stunt your best BFL results. Minus the obvious with reg soda...Things to consider with diet are sodium, caffeine, carbonation, etc... ~Sodium of course you are aware that sm. amounts of sodium dramatically increase water retention may you look and fell bloated=crappy. ~Caffeine has been researched for years! I read that it was fine in moderation. But also remember that it does have diuretic effects& may cause dehydration, so always drink a glass of water for every diet soda or cup-o-coffee. The positive that it may help increase energy for a training session. ~ Carbonated Now I have read that carbonated soft drinks are high in phosphorus. Phosphorus appears to compete with many nutrients, vitiamins and minerals. But mostly calcium for bone, thereby limiting its absorption; in other words, bone loss may be greater than bone maintenance and/or formation, so that net bone density/mass would be less than optimal. This is particularly negative for women's health because of osteoporosis ingredients. Best puposes for soda... ~To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coke into the toilet. Let it sit for one hour, then flush clean. ~To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a crumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coke. ~To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coke over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion. ~To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coke to the rusted bolt for several minutes. There is no better replacement for water than water. You need water to sustain your body's many vital chemical reactions and maintain correct body temperature. Water also rehydrates you because water is lost as perspiration (and expired air), and this can lead to dehydration if fluids are not replaced. Another plus -- drinking water before and during physical activity can enhance your athletic performance. If you have to ingest diet soda. Try to keep it to a minimum. Find healthy alternatives. I especially enjoy adding "DIET" Crystal Light (Peach Tea) to my water arsenal. What are your personal water tips!

Men can have 3.5% bf and not have complications or go into shock. World class athletes in sports like swimming and track tend to be in this group. It is unhealthy to remain under 4.5% for a long time, so keep it for the summer then get a little padding for the winter. Oh and a little interesting fyi, did you know motorcross riders are the most conditioned and toned athletes in the world. I learned that in my muscle phys class.

Right! the abs are there, its the body fat that don't let you see them. I guess you all know this, but its a thing that in a gym everybody has a different opinion: people, the abs needs a period of rest between workouts just like any other muscle. If you want to see a sixpack, do more cardio and watch your nutrition better, lose fat.

Ok... That's it.... Might as well throw in the towel and grab a beer... Not!!!! Good bye fat hello ABs.... We have a winner.... Marty

Rod - Sounds like a great challenge! I know you will do great! When I prepped for the 5k I did this past year, my training regimine was pretty much the same - weights 3x per week, HIIT 2x per week and distance training once a week. Definitely keep your incline up around 1.5-2.0 to help you prepare for the non-treadmill environment. Good luck to you!!! Can't wait to hear how you are progressing! Nancy

Hey Rod, I have been doing two half marathons a year for the past few years; always sub two hours finishing. There are some great plans on Runnersworld.com. This summer what worked for me was running three days a week. One run fast, about three miles, one run of hills and intervals (30 mins), then one long run (upping the distance each week). I lifted three times a week doing a deadlift routine, only deadlifts and presses and NEVER going to failure. You do have to limit weightlifting somewhat to do well at these longer runs. I loved this routine and never felt stronger. Good Luck!

Thread: Localized fat.... (145 Views)

Body for Life Forum Message by Rock-Chick (182 posts) at 11:49 AM:
Thanks guys! Lipo is NEVER gonna be an option for me! LOL Yeah, I raced into this challenge determined to lose more weight, but listening to what you're saying, I might improve my results by concentrating on building more muscle mass instead. That might improve my chances of getting rid of those stubborn areas. Going to re-read the book tonight, and start including more protein before and after workouts. I'm probably just being impatient, but before I got to the size I am now I kinda just thought; "When I get to this size I'll have a really high, tight bum." Just goes to show that just because you get slimmer, you can still have the same body hang-ups you had when you were bigger. I'll conquer this if it's the last thing I do!!! Jules x

Body for Life Forum Message by BONUSNESS (33 posts) at 01:11 PM:
I have found that a lot of people throw up their hands and give up when they can not seem to see significant reductions in localized fat areas. What a shame. Most of them are just about there when they do throw their hands up. Believe it or not folks your body will get around to those areas as well. It just pushes the other fat areas out first. Even your face carries fat that needs to burn out before your body will release all the fat around you arss, abs, and hips... So when myself and so many people say stick to this program for life.... Please do it. I care therefore I post. Marty

Body for Life Forum Message by Rock-Chick (182 posts) at 03:44 PM:
Don't worry Marty I won't be throwing in the towel, I'll just be more focused on building a lot of muscle to burn fat. This is the first program I've tried which includes weight training. For so long I have depended on cardio and pilates to take the weight off, (and it's shaved off an impressive 42lbs), but I realise now that I need to target specific muscle groups if I want to burn the fat surrounding/covering that area. Like I say, I'll be going to bed tonight with a cup of tea and my BFL book for a good re-read. Thanks again, Jules x

Like I say in my profile, I have been "excercising" and doing a psuedo body for life challange for a couple of months. It was only 3 weeks ago that I started "the real thing". Well, this morning my abdomen measured in at 30" and that puts me in the 8% range, my ultimate goal. I figure it will be somewhat difficult to stay at exactly 8% so I picked the 6-8% range. At this rate though, it will be only another week or two until I get to 6%. What do i do then? I don't want to keep losing fat after that, do I eat more? I will continue to work out on the BFL plan regardless.

Hey ya!!!! I am super happy!!! My mom gave me a gift: A glucose test monitor, Accu-Check Compact plus. There was: -The Accu-check glucose monitor -The Testing pen -The carrying case -The 17 glucose stripes -The insulin cool case For 25 Euro. It was half price!!!! Yipppiiiii!!!! It will be easier my life (i hope so!). It came with a little case with a blue slim gel bottle, for at you put it at the freezer and once its frozen, you put it on that little case so you can carry your insulin injections everywhere!!! Ok, i dont need the injections...but...you never know!!! I can carry other stuff on it! I am sooo happy! I still didnt try it...as i didnt got any "low" feeling yet. And the testing stripes cost hell ($50 for 50 stripes). Now i got 17 free stripes. So....its cool!!! :-) I will workout tomorrow...and when i start feel low....i will measure. It has a special feature for hypoglycemia!!! Talk about technology!!! And infrared to transfer all your log to your computer! Super cool! You must wonder how a hell i am sooo happy to have "a machine for a disease". Well....atlast i will see if its true what i have...and WHEN i have it. By the way....1st day on the zone diet...and i still didnt feel a LOW. Weird....i just felt it 1 time...but it was a small moment, after i ate another zone oatmeal/protein cookie i felt OK. Anyway...hope this is the diet that will keep my insuline and glucose stable. Take care ya all!!!! If there is any diabetic...hypoglycemic...hyperglycemic...using any of those great tools...you can write here :-) Or anyone!!! :-) Reese

I may never see abs, not because of not working hard enough but I was thinking that since I have this big scar from my esophgus operation when I was a baby on my stomach the abs may not be able to be visible,
I might get a double pack instead of a 6 pack, but I'll take what ever I can get, lol!

I took my dtr to her first skating party today.  She had a blast.  So one of the other moms asked me to put on skates and skate with her.  I did!.  I havn't been on roller skates in 25 years literally.  Now remember this is a birthday party and the camera is rolling.  Down I go.  I looked like a beached whale. I had to laugh at myself.   Well I got up and started again.  Then I figured I better quit while I was ahead.   Skating at 42 is not something my body and I were meant to do. My dtr thought I was cool because I was skating.  My backside has a different opinion!  Hugs to all.
