I think that once your abs get stronger its not so bad. I do remember in the beginning having weak abs and it made me almost feel sick. Now its a challenge to make "them work" and it makes you feel like you want to make them work. Stick with it and before long it'll be quads you hate LOL. I STILL HATE one leg squats & lunges!!!!
Body for Life Forum Message by ocpanther65 (46 posts) at 06:49 PM
Thanks for all the advice. I have been working on them this week and I am sure that it will get better. I will try that program in a couple of weeks after I build up some muscle. Flower I will never hate quads, I have been doing lunges and squats since I started football at 13. I love doing legs, its just the abs i hate.

Exactly TigerMuscle, poeple has said that me that I am too obsessed with the weight loss. But I would like to say that it's just that actually we are now more disciplined!!

I carry a blender plus baggies with creatine, glutamine, and other workout supplements, along with several packets of meal replacement powders, in my car trunk. It is in an EAS workout bag, and right next to it is a workout bag packed with everything to do a workout in. I buy blenders at garage sales for $5 or less and I have one at work, two at home, as well as the one in the car. I also take the blender with me when I travel, throwing in a large cup too. It's really not obsession at all, just habit and preparation.

I got my first complement today! However let me explain
I had just finished with my workout and I was in the locker room getting ready to get in the shower. A guy came over and asked me how many minutes a day I workout a week. I'm terrible at math, so I just ran down my routine for him. He then said it must be working because you look like you lost a lot of weight!....
I never saw this guy before in my life! You would think a complement like that would be from someone who sees you at least every now and then right? LOL
Oh well....I'll take it!
Body for Life Forum Message by SportyGirl (46 posts) at 08:00 AM
Wow, that's a great compliment!
Compliments from the people that I'm closest to always mean the most to me. Having said that, I figure that if people I'm not so close to make the effort to make compliment on my weight loss, well it must be getting more obvious.
And if a complete stranger was to go out of their way to come over and say what he did, and be impressed enough to ask about my workouts... well then it must be REALLY showing!
So congratulations, you're obviously doing great tigermuscle!!!
Keep up the good work!
Body for Life Forum Message by Jitter2001 (9 posts) at 08:27 AM
That is so true Tiger... I too got my first complement about 4 days ago from someone that I don't ever talk too or rarely see at work. It was a huge boost to my program when she noticed me.

I think it means more comign from someone you don't know. I alwasy think those people that are close to you feel obligated to compliment you because they want to encourage you to keep going. Maybe I'm just synical, but when it comes from someone that doesn't have to say it or doesn't even know that I 'm trying it means a lot more. Congratulations!

Maybe he's seen you in the gym several times since you started. That's great though! I like getting compliments from my older brother. They mean the most to me because we are so different and have never gotten along and he never compliments anyone, especially not me. So, when he says it, it makes me push so much harder. Congrats on the compliment and keep up the good work.

Should I take the Betagen on Cardio and Weight days or just on Weight days?
Thanks in advance,
Katie
Body for Life Forum Message by ocpanther65 (46 posts) at 06:29 PM
You should take it everyday while using it so that your body keeps its levels of creatine spiked. If you are going to take it every other day though I would take it on your weight training daysm this will help you recover better and may reduce doms (muscle soreness. I used to take it daily in my previous challenges and had great results. Good luck!

Body for Life Forum Message by ocpanther65 (46 posts) at 06:32 PM
I would definetly use myoplex. You get your vitamins and nutrients and it fills you up. I can go through a challenge without creatine or betagen but not without a convenient meal replacement.

I love to give gift cards if I know that someone likes a particular store or restaurant. I, too, have people on my list who have everything, and if they don't have it, they buy it for themselves before anyone else has a chance to. The only bad experience I've had is when someone gave me a $20 gift card to Saks. Not trying to be ungrateful, but uh, hello?
Body for Life Forum Message by Megan'sMom (181 posts) at 10:02 AM
I hate to give gift cards, because I feel like I'm copping out and not really trying, but I actually don't mind receiving them.
The worst is my sister and her family, whenever it's a birthday or something for her or one of my nephews all they ask for is money, which I think is rude. Anyone else? I was even told by one nephew last year Money and specifically no gift cards. It makes me want to not get them anything.

I like giving gift card to my wife because she goes shopping for herself AFTER Christmas… when all the after Christmas sales are in full swing. She simply loves taking her time and picking out exactly what she wants knowing that she is getting the stuff for ‘free’. She can pinch a gift card so hard, it cries out for mercy!
However, I ain’t stupid (much) so I makes sure that I get her some other ‘stuff’ to open on Christmas Day. And, if one really wants to impress… diamonds always seem to work!
Body for Life Forum Message by sloth501 (86 posts) at 10:40 AM
I would say it would depend on whom you are buying for and how they are at receiving gifts.... My mother in law is one of those picky people who is hard to buy for. For the last 3 or 4 years, every gift her son and his wife have tried to give her, she has asked for the receipt and returned.
This has been really insulting to my sister in law who really tries to find gifts that people will use and enjoy. The last 2 gifts were really poorly received. One was a nice bread maker that her husband would not let her use because the manual was not in the box and the needed the receipt for the warranty (but it got returned supposedly because of the missing manual). The second was an outfit that my wife helped the daughter in law pick out that she immediately asked for the receipt and returned within a week. My Mother in law will not spend very much on clothes so they tried to find something that she would like and thought it was nice looking.
After these two incidents, my sister in law has said "screw it" and her and my father in law now only receive Wal-Mart gift cards from them.
Body for Life Forum Message by Darrell (201 posts) at 11:47 AM
Good morning armeica said it's better to get a $10 card for something cheaper like blockbuster, then to get a $10 card for SAKS as someone mentioned earlier. So it even feels like a nicer gift.
I like gift cards. I like to give them for nice restaurants. We have a nice restaurant here that sells you four $25 cards then gives you a $25 for free!! Hello? I buy lots of those myself, since I frequent the place anyway!! What a steal!
Body for Life Forum Message by tinkerbell (291 posts) at 11:49 AM
I literally stress out over Christmas presents all year long. I try to think of something my in-laws and parents will like constantly. The problem with my father-in-law is he will not use a gift card if you give him one, I think it has something to do with pride or saving for a rainy day. I don't know. My stepmom returned a gift to me one year, which really hurt my feelings. So I guess you can say I've been scarred :-) I have a 13 year old stepbrother who LOVES money and that irritates me (among other things) so I give him a US Savings Bond to make him mad.....I'm such an evil big sister!!!
Body for Life Forum Message by goingforbuff (1441 posts) at 01:18 PM
What is it with mothers in law??? Mine NEVER seemed to be happy with what I got her until I started getting gift card to Blockbusters, etc. She would always complain about the clothes I got her, "I can't believe you bought this size - this won't fit me", when it is her size. The first year I was dating my husband, I bought her some nice lotion from Lancome. She looked at me and said "I don't use this stuff". I was crushed. Why can't some people just say thank you and feel good about the fact that the person who bought it put thought into it? No, just make them feel like crap. The true spirit of Christmas, I guess, for some miserable people!!!
Body for Life Forum Message by dreambig (59 posts) at 02:14 PM
Now here is a question most of us are wondering, what is the perfect gift for so and so? I have come to realise that one of the absolute best gifts is the gift of time, and that is not just for kids. This is a fast paced world we lived in- what if your gift card was a homemade one and was redemable for a family dinner, help with gardening, family time? Sound corny? I bet they'd love it. Imagine being the in laws and your son or daughter in law said that for Christmas what they wanted was to simply spend more time with you.

I work in a bank....If they did not receive your NEW account information by the cutoff for the bank to issue the direct deposit alot of times it does divert to the OLD account. However, they should easily enough be able to tell you WHERE your $$$ is.
The fault lies with both the employer and the bank.
Don't let the bank tell you they don't know where your $$$ is......they have people that ONLY do that, deal with account changes, direct deposits, etc.

I think it'll be Danni......she's been flying under the radar the entire game,
and more times than not...hanging back, not being too good/bad at challenges, not winning/loosing alot of immunity challenges, can be the smartest way to get as far as possible.
Thursday, I think Lydia will be gone, then I think it'll be Stephanie then Rafe....the final two will be Cindy & Danni. Ofcourse that's jus how I see things going down.

How about every day sticking a cookie in a baggie and eating them all on your free day?

Let's say one cookie is only 75 calories, a reasonable average.Over a year's time that is 27,375 calories, about 8 pounds that you won't lose that you might have wished you had.
Body for Life Forum Message by KatieFeld-mom (68 posts) at 12:55 PM
The idea of putting them in a baggie and saving them until your free day is an excellent idea. I've done that many times and it really helps to curb snacking.
Only you can decide if you want to see changes or not.
Of course, if this is your free day, have all the cookies you want.
Body for Life Forum Message by TaraC29 (50 posts) at 01:03 PM
I checked out your profile and you want to lose 25 lbs in 12 weeks...I want to lose 24 lbs so we're both in the same spot. I think that to consistently lose 2 lbs a week is tough and takes serious dedication. My three week average is 1.8 so I'm not even where I need to be. Believe me, I've done the numebers to know what I need to lose this week to get me on track and I KNOW eating just one cookie a day can take away from that.
In the big scheme of things its probably not that ONE cookie that would do it to me or even you but what that ONE cookie could lead to or how it could make you feel...guilt, failure or even more hunger pains from all the sugar probably isn't worth it.
DISCLAIMER*****I did eat 2 small pieces of Grandma's peanut butter fudge yesterday on my non-free day so it does happen. I enjoyed it and knew that it would be it for me. :)

in my last level 10 sets, for the arms i can't complete the 12 reps without dropping the weights on my toes. Is it more advisable to lighten the load and do the full set, or should i continue to push with what i'm doing now?
i don't think that the weight is too high as much as the biceps and triceps are at the end of the workout and the muscles are just tired.
i am trying to stick to the 1 minute break, thought and that is helping me to lift with more strength.
i did an arm workout last night, and the muscles still feel hot.
what's the pognosis?

If you are doing say 4 sets of 12 do you go to failure on all 4 sets??

How do you use the smith machine? Looks intimidating to me.
Body for Life Forum Message by crone (282 posts) at 01:40 PM
There is no such thing as a dumb question. I've been seeing a lot of exercises in magazines using a smith machine I would like to know also. All I know is there is no need for a spotter.
Body for Life Forum Message by georgiawendy (206 posts) at 01:45 PM
I do squats, bench press, shoulder shrugs and one-legged lunges with it all the time. For example, bench press: Just slide a bench right under there, making sure that you are facing in the direction where you will roll the bar forward when you are finished with a set. The hooks will clip on in that forward motion. I hope that makes sense. It's kind of hard to explain in writing.
Body for Life Forum Message by tinkerbell (291 posts) at 09:52 PM
I was intimidated by the Smith machine for a long time and now I use it for bench presses and squats and/or lunges. The best thing to do is play with it without any weight on it. Get the feel for it when you do a squat, move the "stops" around to see where the best place is for them so you get a full range of motion, but will not hurt yourself if your muscles fail. Experimenting with it will also help you get the feel for the exercise before you load it up. Good luck!! If it weren't for the Smith Machine I would never do a squat or a bench press. I have poor balance and weak pecs.

I had the same experience when I was exercising three hours a day with free weights. My doctor said I was burning muscles instead of fat, and that I should eat more protein - ie: eat more red meat.
Just my experience.

I'm NOT IN!!!!! Yeah isn't that nice, huh. Unless I change my mind by then; its just that I've been so bad lately. One thing I hate doing is making a liar of myself and secondly not doing something 100% - this is so not me right now. I do however "plan" on making some changes by Jan. 2, like going more than 4 great days, 3 shitty days.
One thing is for certain though, I will be watching you all & routing you on - I can't wait to see what this brings you!!!! Maybe it'll be what I need to see to get back on track - go Steffie GO!

Linda you are so right. I have to get up at 4:30am to get to the gym in time to work out before work. I have to have my gym clothes laid out the night before and my work clothes packed. I often stay in town, to shop or visit with my children for the evening. I feel like I leaving for a long weekend every time I leave the house. I pack the food to eat clean. If I dont get prepared the night before I may not get up to GET ER DONE.
I am almost afraid to miss the gym during the week. I am on week 8 of my challenge and have made it to the gym every week day for 9 weeks. If I miss it might be the start of an old habit. I feel so much better when I go.
By 5PM my brain no longer tells my body what to do. I will do this! Only 5 weeks to go on my first challenge. But I guess I will be doing this "For Life". It sure beats the heck out of being a couch potato.

This is going to sound RIDICULOUS, but try it, 'cause it won't hurt.
If you're cramping up at night, put a bar of Ivory soap at the foot of your bed, under your fitted sheet.
I've never had to try this, but when I was home visiting family recently, this came up in discussion, and my mom, grandma and uncle were all raving about how well it works.
What'll it hurt, right?

Another factor is that I was rather upset that my former long-time friends didn't swallow their pride for evena moment to call me on Thanksgiving or my birthday after having shared those holidays with them for the last 12 years...
And I woke up this morning with a stomach bug so I figured that the impending illness was dragging my mood down a bit...

Michelle,
On starting another challenge... I get the part about continuing. But how do you set new goals if you are happy with where you are? IE I can't imagine you are hoping to drop weight or get any tighter. Isn't it tough to feel as motivated/challenged when the goal is to keep it up? How do you do that? Or are you constantly going for more weight, faster funs, smaller clothing?
I'm really wondering how you keep the gusto in the day to day as you make this "for life". I like how I feel each time I complete a workout. And I like how I feel and look when I get up in the morning and have a toned body to dress. But it isn't the same as watching muscles pop up or watching the number on the scale go down.

Framed asked what she should do...now that she has reached her goals.
This is a great question--and I am sure many of you have some advice for her.
I'm thinking that when I get to that point in my own transformation I plan to continue with the exercises. As for maintaining the current weight without losing more...maybe its time to start increasing slowly your calorie intake along with your weights. You will be maintaining and building a few more muscles--but by eating more calories would still be able to maintain a stable weight.
We women have a fear of over training--cause we think we will become the terminator.
Hah--I am starting to realize that it would take me eight hours a day in the gym to even form a fraction of the monster muscles the Governor has.
Anyway---maybe someone else would like to jump in here with their ideas?

Ya just going to let a little frustration stop you from realizing your dreams, your hopes, your desires? Heck, you're smarter than that or you wouldn't have started BFL in the first place!! As an intelligent individual, you can clearly see why this is the exact reason you must stay. You just gotta do it for YOU. Don't do this for anyone else. Someone around here once said "I can't motivate you - BUT I can inspire you!!" so if you go look at the profiles, you will see HUNDREDS of success stories that just might help give you the inspiration you're looking for. As an Example check out Jshelton in the profiles - he's an inspiration!

Patti, you received lots of great advice and support here. So, I'll make it short...you did too much!
For one FULL week, just do it like Bill said AND keep your eating squeaky clean. If you drink ALL your water...at least a gallon a day AND eat 5-6 healthy approved meals a day in conjuction with your workouts, you WILL see results. I am a firm believer now after only 3 weeks.
Don't give up girl, its a lifetime commitment to be healthy and you need to enjoy the journey. Only you can make it happen! Lots of Luck!

I know everybody has said the most wonderful, inspiring and encouraging words but I wanted to put my own as well. It is a slow process, this Body-for-Life, but the results are phenomenal! I'm not talking physically, although that's a huge plus, but mentally. You will feel so empowered that you may even decide to run a marathon after all. Stay with Body-for-Life, be patient and let go of "bad days" or "bad weeks."
And one more thing..... do you have the Body-for-Life Success Journal? It's amazing! I've done this Challenge before pre-pregnancy and I achieved wonderful results. Now that I'm doing it again with the Success Journal, it's even easier to stay motivated. I feel like Bill Phillips is with me and that he's only focused on me.
I do hope you don't quit on us.
Best of luck,
Michelle

O my, you guys! WOW, I just read all of my private messages and both of my depressing post. You are all amazing.
I had a talk with the therapist I see for my postpartum depression and he made me feel alot better and convinced me not to quit and you all just reinforced it.
Someone mentioned that I may have been looking for a bunch of"we love you and do not quit" but I acually wasn't. I was suprised that so many people responded. Let me clarify, I just needed to vent and the response I got was inspiring and much needed to say the least.
After talking with Gerry (my therapist) and you guys. I am having my husband hide our scales and I am throwing out my goal sheets. You see, I have a set of goals for every week and when i dont reach them I get frustrated. Gerry thinks that my mind and body decide to rebell against my perfectionism and I overeat, kind of as a way to say F-you.
This challenge is going to be about me reprogramming mind toward acceptance and maintenance of my weight loss. If I lose more weight great and if I do not then I will find a way to accept that. But the next challenge, when I am in my right frame of mind will kick ass.
I am going to post my pictures tomorrow, so please let me know if yo all se any change. I will also be responing to my pms tomorrow.
Gotta go. UBWO is waiting for me.
Thanks and lots of love
Patti

If you haven’t already you MUST check out John Hussman’s page. It will help you get motivated and stay on track.
http://www.hussmanfitness.org/
Here is an excerpt from his article titled The Fridge: Nutrition Keys. I’ve highlighted a most excellent point people need to remember and I think it applies to the despair you felt that prompted you to vent. (and its okay to vent!) Good luck and stick with the program
IMPORTANT: The goal of this is to have a fitness program you can live with. If you find that you get into guilty self-destructive binges after you eat some kind of "fun food," then it's much better to include a specific and limited amount of fun food as part of your written nutrition plan for each day (but no more than 5-10% of your total daily calories). It's not the cookie that will throw your program off, but guilt, "all-or-nothing" thinking, and self-abuse that says "I ate the cookie! I've got no willpower! I'm a loser! I've ruined my whole day with that one cookie! It's a cheat day now! I'll never succeed at this!" followed by a self-destructive binge in which you rapidly eat 20 more cookies. This is called disinhibition - where you drop all the rules and say "Ah, what the heck!" Don't fall into this. My advice – step away from the cookies. Breathe in, breathe out, smile, drink some water, go anywhere, do anything, but step away from the cookies.
Remember: you're always in control. You're never going to accidentally eat a cookie. So if you're about to eat one and no other alternative will do, at least realize it's a choice. Enjoy that choice, and then get on with your program. Work it into your plan, so that you'll eat a little less later today, or a little less tomorrow, to make up that tiny bit of ground. Let me say that again: if you eat something you feel is a "cheat", realize the choice you're making beforehand, and if you choose to go ahead, at least enjoy it, and then get back to work. Don't try to fool yourself and nibble off little corners of a 12-inch cake until the whole thing is gone. And don't turn a minor indiscretion into a self-destructive binge.

I went to my home town of Buffalo NY for my nieces wedding this past september. My older brother who I haven't seen in few years walked up to me and said "what do you weigh now?, not hello or hello brother but what do you weigh now! That pissed me off and I went right for the Bar and had a few brewski's. Then when I got home I decide to show him a thing or two and started the program on October 3rd. In a way I have to thank him for motivating me (or pissing me off)

Body for Life Forum Message by Rock-Chick (229 posts) at 03:22 PM
I was about 4 years old and it was Christmas day. I'd gone to my cousins' house for Christmas dinner, with my parents and my Nana, and my Auntie's mother ripped me to pieces at the dinner table..... "Do you reallly think she should be eating that? Don't put so much on her plate. She's the same age as my Helen, but she's double her size! How could you let her weight get so out of control? I hope you haven't got her any sweets for Christmas!"
I fought back the tears all day. I've always been compared to my cousin Helen, who is just 3 months older than me.....We've always kinda been pitted against each other. She's always been the skinny one, and I was the chubby one. What her grandmother didn't know was she was so skinny because she was malnurished as a baby, (wouldn't take to her feeds), and because of that she hasn't had much of an appitite, and so was very underweight as a kid.
However, instead of my dad defending me, he let her say all these terrible things to me.....I WAS FOUR YEARS OF AGE!!!!!!!!
The next day he put me on a strict diet, and made me exercise like crazy. I didn't get any thinner though, probably because I was getting taller, and by the time I was 10 I had nearly completed puberty! He'd make me stand on the scales, and then tell me how digusted he was of me. That never left me.
When he died when I was nine I decided that I HAD to be thin to make him proud, and did some pretty stupid things to myself. I'd starve myself for weeks, and then binge eat until I was sick. The weight piled on, and by then, I'd started to get picked on at school.
When I look at pictures of myself as a kid I admit I was chubby. This cute, chubby little girl with rosey cheeks. But you could NOT say I was FAT or overweight at all! There is a picture of me at the zoo with my cousin Helen when we were about 5 or 6, and we're wearing identical shorts and t-shirt. I look quite healthy, and normal, but you can see every rib through Helen's top, and her legs are unbeleivably scrawny. Two years ago she was put on medication to increase her appitite because her periods had stopped....She weighed in at 83lbs and was 22 years of age!
I can't help but think, that if I'd only been left alone or if someone had had the guts to tell that horrible old bitch to shut her mouth, I'd have grown up with a healthy self image and greater self respect. My dad was my hero. The only man I have ever looked up to, and he made me feel as though no man could ever find me attractive because of my weight. I've spoken to my cousin's grandmother about what she said to me, and she has apologised to me over it. But I'll never get the chance to confront my dad over it. I suppose that's why I'll always have issues with my weight.

First time was when I was 23, I had just come back from a year of working for Disney which mainly involved lots of alcohol and cheap fast food (they don't pay lots in Florida ya know!). I was in my bikini and my mum said 'you've been really rubenesque'! Just a flowery word for round! And then, when I was getting married last year and trying dresses on a shop assistant acutally said to me : 'you're too big and large for this type of dress'. RUDE!

I don't know if this media boot camp ting has them scheduled to be on TV. My impression was that it was more to get them ready to be 'celebrities', so to speak..

I am physched! I did 9 week weight and body fat today, in 9 weeks I have lost 11.4 lbs total...but lost 15.6 lbs of fat and gained 4.2 lbs of muscle. I have gone down 8.1% in body fat from 29.6% to 21.5%! Heck ya, now THAT motivates me! 3 weeks to go...I am pretty sure I will reach my goals!

Got up and did my upper body workout this morning. I can't help but feel bummed a bit. I don't feel any stronger. I hate looking at my fat arms as I struggle through the excercises. I'm sorry this is so negative, but I feel like that at this moment.

you have to give this time and keep the faith. I know, trust me I KNOW this can be hard sometimes when you look in the mirror and you STILL see the person you began as..but as the weeks go by you will see changes I promise! You will look better and feel better. Does this help?
Body for Life Forum Message by blemt (93 posts) at 09:53 AM
I have an ultra top secret secret to days like this.
Here it is- it's okay to have a bad day. :) Everyone from the Grandest Grand Champion on down does. The secret is in not letting one part of the bad day throw off the rest of it.
I can rattle off information on how low energy days are caused by XYZ, and how you will probably bounce back next week lifting more weight.
But the bottom line is, it's okay to havea bad day. :) Just do not let this thing dominate everything. Look for ways to win the rest of the day and finish on a positive note.
Positive thing 1: You did your workout.
Positive thing 2: You've made it through two weeks of BFL! That's great. :)
So what's positive thing three going to be? :)
Body for Life Forum Message by Wrecky (82 posts) at 09:54 AM
Yeah. I just gotta keep my chin up and keep pushing. Some days I find that having all these buff people around me is motivating. Today it was just so disheartening...struggling through shoulders and just feeling all out silly..and wussy. I'm sticking to it.
Body for Life Forum Message by fitchic25802 (339 posts) at 09:55 AM
Just keep at it. Took me almost a year before I really started seeing muscle definition peeking out from under the fat. You'll get there. You still have 9 weeks to go. Keep up the good work. We are our worst critics and like tigermuscle said, you still see the old you. Everyone else sees the new, changing you. You can do it! Believe in yourself! Keep smiling, you're doing something good for your body.

It is totally understandable that you are going to experience peaks and valleys while completing the body and mind’s transformation. If it were easy then it would not be called a ‘challenge’. It is a challenge… one worthy of enduring the tests. It appears as though you are suffering one of the doldrums. Rest assured, this is only a temporary situation. Wait until you get to enjoy the victories! Waiting until you beam whenever you look in the mirror… when you are forced to buy new clothing for the new you. Believe me, you will one day look back upon this day and forget you ever endured it. All you’ll see is the new you and you‘ll forget the hard time! Keep focused on your 12-week goal and keep the faith! TJ

When Michelangelo was asked how he created a particularly beautiful sculpture he said, "I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free."
That's what you're doing when you workout, carving yourself a new body. Look beyond the skin on the outside and visualize the strong, lean body that lies inside; workout with intensity, and set free the "you" that lies within.
Yours in fitness, Larry

Okay Team, I'm not sure if anyone is still out there, besides Metiva, who I already heard from today.
I'd love to hear from you and how you're doing. For this finale I need weight, points and BF%.
I don't know if you've been lurking or not, but this last week I stepped it up and I've been posting my stats daily, food, water, exercise and it's been keeping me honest. This week alone I've lost 3 pounds and .7% BF. I feels great!!! I plan to keep it up after today and I'll be subjecting the Tracker Community at large with my stats . . . it's working for me and I urge you to join me and give it a try.
Thanks for being part of my Team and letting me be your Leader. I hope you carry on in health and reach your goals.

My stats from yesterday (Sunday)
Water - 10 (I do at least 6 water and the rest is either Crystal Light or Diet Soda)
#1 - Egg whites & American Cheese on WW English Muffin
#2 - Luna Bar
#3 - Wendy's Large Chili
#4 - Pei Wei - 1/2 Honey Orange Chicken w/ Brown Rice and Lettuce Wraps
Meal #4 was probably larger than it should have been, but I also didn't get in as many meals as I should have. From Dinner we went to the hockey game and I didn't have options of healthy food there so I didn't eat at the game.
Exercise - Pilates class

I am headed to the gym at lunch and I will PM you with my points, weight, and BF%. I really hope there is a significant change in the BF% because I am not happy with the weight.

Hi everyone!
After much encouragment from amodellawyer's fan club, I finally posted my pics. (week 3 shows way too much butt, sorry) I'm not sure how I feel about my progress - my backside still has a way to go - but we still have about 12 weeks until Cancun, so hopefully that will be enough time to be smokin' in a new bikini!
Anyways, thanks for all the encouragement...I definitely wasn't planning on putting these up before all the pm's. :)

This is kind of crazy/weird, but I just recieved my 1 lb. of fat in the mail today! It's great.....disgusting and gross and sits right on my kitchen counter. My husband thinks that I have lost my mind, but it is really motivating to me. I just look at that and realize that I have 10 more of those to loose.
I ordered mine at nasco.com...it was 16.95, the cheapest I could find.
I though I would share just in case anyone else needs a new and gross motivating tool.

If you want to see the replicas of "fat", try this website/address, I made a mistake above

OR start your search from enasco.com

i don't think I need to go to the site to see fat, I just have to look in the morror, hahhaa!! not funny I know, but it's better to laugh then to cry, so I'll be laughing until the last 20 lbs comes off!! and I will get it off, I can GET*HER*DONE!!

Susan - what are you thinking???? Got nothing else to spend money on???? For $16.95 I would have sent you 10 pounds - THATS TEN POUNDS OF IT.
On second thought, I wouldn't have charged you the $16.95; I'm feeling generous this time of year so I would have even paid the shipping. Let me know when you're in the market again - have I got a deal for you.

I can't find a photographer who specializes in photographing muscle definition. I would like to set my appointment for motivation. I've asked several personal trainers at my gym and they've all told me that they didn't know anyone. Where did you guys get your photographer? Yellow pages? Word of mouth? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Body for Life Forum Message by cfingram (1354 posts) at 02:29 PM
Yahoo Yellow Pages :)
The gentleman that took my after pictures actually came to my house and took the pictures "outdoor" using natural sunlight and "spot light" ... my cost was only $50.00. I got a great deal! :)

Go to a supplement store, they usually have cards or something for photographers. Or look it up on the internet for your area.

Body for Life Forum Message by cfingram (1354 posts) at 02:41 PM
just "photographer" and pick up the phone and call them. Explain to them what you are wanting from them or send them an email if avaialable;

Darrell, I always knew you were cheap.
Now I have proof.
Body for Life Forum Message by michiganmike (131 posts) at 09:23 PM
Darrell, when you say you'll "shoot them" you make me just a little nervous!
I think any photographer will work, though some don't like doing this kind of thing. It's not rocket science. You just get the light right, have a decent tan and a little oil, and--as Darrell might say, "Bang!" I do my own in the backyard using a tripod and timer. It works decently. Unless my stupid dog jumps into the photo anyway. That way I can do as many as I want and nobody is telling me what to do.
Body for Life Forum Message by Just~Josh (35 posts) at 10:27 PM
craigslist.org is a great source for anything lower priced. type in for example: atlanta.craigslist.org substitute your town for atlanta, and as long as you don't live in mudsquat, you should have one....
as far as keywords, I would try "BDSM" that should produce some awesome results!
Peace, J

I have now managed to post my photo's for weeks 4 6 & 7.I must admit I prefer my back photos to my front.
Creatine is now taking effect and my Bi's are growing nicely - managed to delete my best front photo by accident so hopefully I can get a better photo this week.
My house is so small that it is a job to get decent full length photo's done so sometimes I have to go to my parents house to take photo's-hence mum's cat Pickles getting in the way of one photo!!
Anyway onwards to week 8!

Hi all, Its been a while :) I have been looking at all the latest pics and let me say you folks are all doing an AWESOME job!!! Be very very proud of your accomplishments. It took alot of determination and hard work for all of you to get to this point. Stay strong in your efforts and motivation.
Ever since my surgery in September, I am finding that I have lost some of my spark and I don't know why. I keep starting this challenge and that challenge over and over. I keep saying ok this is it. This time go all the way, no giving up and restarting.
As you can see from my profile that there have been no updates because there is nothing to update. Everything is the same. My problem is consistency. I don't have any. I may do well for a few days and then find myself cheating and then the next day say "ok no more... back to the gym now" and then same thing happens again and again. *sigh* Its a vicious circle.
The holidays are fast approaching and I know damned well that despite my best intentions, I will end up cheating at some point. I am hoping that come January, once all of the festivities have ended that things will change for me but to be honest, I really don't want to use the holidays as an excuse to be lax. Thats really lame and I can do better than that.
My biggest problem right now is food. SO I was hoping that some of you could help me. What do your meal plans for the day look like? I am so sick of chicken. I hate dry tuna. I DON'T do cottage cheese. *gag* I don't like salmon. I know I am REALLY picky and sickening LOL. Any advice? I really need some help here.
Thanks, Lisa

Hang in there. One of these mornings it will just click and you will get that spark back. I have done about 5 challenges since 98 and just recently got the urge to do it right and make it a lifestyle. As far as food, I really rely on myoplex for at least 2 meals usually 3. For the other meals I bout Bill Phillips book Eating for life, it is Awesome! Everything tastes good and is BFL legit. Good luck and stick to it!

I'm probably not much help because I eat a lot of chicken, cottage cheese and tuna (but I'm starting to loathe tuna!)
I pretty much use the same foods, and switch them around. Here's a list of my staples:
grilled chicken,
turkey burgers,
grilled fish,
green beans,
broccoli,
corn,
carrots,
baked potato,
cottage cheese mixed w/CarbControl yogurt,
tuna,
banana,
small apple,
egg beaters (southwestern style - yum!),
oatmeal mixed with sugar free syrup
I really, really, really want the EFL book for X-Mas but no one has asked me what I want!

Oh..and for different dinners, we found some really good frozen Tyson varieties.
Like Chicken in Medallion/Mushroom Sauce and Pork Roast in Gravy.
I know pork isn't on the list, but it is comparable to the chicken. I have the pork one in my hand and here is the breakdown:
Serving Size: 5oz
3.5 Servings per Container
Calories: 140, Fat: 4.5, Cholesterol: 55mg, Sodium: 740mg, Carbs: 3, Sugars: 1g, Protein: 22g
These are really, really good and the chicken one is about the same breakdown. Great with a baked potato and carrots, almost like having a little mini roast!
And you'll like the Southwestern Style Egg Beaters. One of my favorite things!

Hey G,
food insn't my strong point. I'm not good anymore on the 6 meal thing, etc.
I just try to ensure that what I do eat is realitively healthy, and that I do not go overboard on portion size. Remember, lots of water, lol. about 5-8 lbs a day oughta do it:)
Yours in Health,
Kerry

I eat lean canadian bacon... instead of bacon in the mornings. I also love Schwann's smoked chicken breasts. I like to shred them and have them on a huge salad with lots of veggies. You could always make an EFL cheesecake and drink a EAS Advant Edge shake with it. I hate cottage cheese, too, BUT I found that I can make a pita pizza and add 1/4c of cottage cheese on it and never know it's there... it's actually yummy! I also add cottage cheese (about 1/4c) to my homemade spaghetti sauce (I mix it in with just my portion). I don't think I could just eat regular spaghetti sauce any more... I love it with the cottage cheese. I also eat tuna (in the pouch) with about 1 tablespoon of fat free or low fat mayo and add 1/2 an apple diced up in it. That's pretty good... even though you're not big on tuna. I'm not huge on it either, but it's pretty good with the apple mixed in. You have to get creative in order to stay with the plan. I will sometimes eat a low carb yogurt (with 1/2 serving of Go-Lean Crunch cereal mixed in) and an EAS Advant Edge shake... takes away the need for MEAT at that one meal. Hope that helps.

I'm struggling too these days but started fresh again today. Here are 3 recipes for you. A snack, dinner and lunch all 40-40-20 balanced with nutrient info included. Pork tenderloin is a very acceptable lean protein and so is Canadian bacon. (and I'm not just saying that).
shrimp cocktail
Ingredients
2 tablespoons cocktail sauce
1/2 teaspoon olive oil
8 ready-to-eat medium (31 to 35 per pound) shrimp
Instructions
1. Mix the cocktail sauce and the olive oil in a small mixing bowl. Serve the shrimp with the sauce for dipping.
