$99.90 or 4 flexpays of $24.98. I just went to the site and the one I have, the original, is not available. At least not from HSN. They're selling a next generation Power Juicer "Express". Very mixed reviews. I'm sure the original is still available through other retailers. I paid $99.90 three years ago.

Here's a pre-emptive kick in the bootie! ( it's only Friday before the Tuesday ). A few things that helped me was the realization that one cannot " spot reduce" fat or various parts of the body. You said you didn't really see changes, but there were as muscle was being gained while fat was being lost- end result is scale seems stagnant. Reality is that when we initially start, there is excess fat in us not in the obvious places ( the organs, in muscle tissues, etc. ) This stuff is usually the first to get utilized and burned, before the fat hanging around our waist, or thighs, or wherever begins to go. The pictures and measurements helped me a great deal when early on it seemed progress was slow. Once the internal stuff was gone, the outward appearance of the body really started to change :) Try to use this 12 weeks to learn to appreciate the new , healthly lifestyle and use it to embrace a permanent change ( that in essence is really the challenge, afterall ). If you do this- you will have the shape and appearance, not to mention the improved internal health which you seek. Success to You, Yours in Health, Kerry

snowboardingfairy: Dont quit no matter what. Thats one sure-fire way to not see results. Even if your results are not a great as you want them to be when you take pics you CANT quit! Dont get discouraged, this is a perminate life style change. I know you can do it.

Body for Life Forum Message by T~N~T (917 posts) at 09:56 AM:
KEEP THE FAITH!!! I promise if you keep going you will see the progress. I did not see changes for months after my 1st challenge. It was like plateau hell. Hit the wall for months. I tweaked a few things to get things moving again. Heavier weights, stricter diet & well eventually they worked. Just keep going, growing, and learning. That is the advice I can give from my own personal experience. ;-)

ahh, thanks guys, big hugs to you all :) No, I wont quite, as that was never an option for me, I feel too good to stop. I just wish the outside matched the inside:) ANd maybe I'm just being hard on myself, I really don't know how obvious (or not) my changes are since I haven't taken any pic's, which I will do by this Tues. Thanks again , and Merry Christmas all :)

There is a scam here somewhere. It either lies with the company that is buying your scripts or further down the line. Let's just look at this logically. Someone wants your stuff enough to pay you half a million dollars, but they don't have $6500 bucks to hand you? I think not. Wake up! You are either getting scammed or are attempting to scam others. As for the Japanese buyers calling you, they want it to look legit to suck you in, and my bet is they are directly linked with the other agency. Once the money leaves your hand, they vanish. The fact that it crosses international borders points even more to a scam. Who cares if you have a legally binding contract if you can't find the other party to sue them over it? POOF!

Body for Life Forum Message by georgiawendy (310 posts) at 10:22 AM: Re:
vonkarolinas said: Ok, Mike. That's cool. As for the faith the people will pay me the $500,000. It's not so much faith as it is a legally binding contract. Mama, I'll check it out. But the company wanting the money isn't the same one my contract is with. Plus, I've talked to the Japanese buyers over the phone. And for the record, they called me at their own expense. This is the weird part. Too many unknowns and international parties involved. I wouldn't put much faith in that contract. It sounds like a nightmare waiting to happen. Best of luck to you in whatever you decide to do about this.

Body for Life Forum Message by vonkarolinas (81 posts) at 07:08 PM:
Well as for the buyers, I know they are legit, I've checked them out.. As for it being a scam, here is the hard part to figure out. In order for it to work, the scammers would have to know the person they are targetting is even involved in script writing or film making. And since they were looking for completed scripts and films they would have to know the people they targeted had completed works. The odds are a little to risky for them, they would would find people in this category.

Body for Life Forum Message by ocpanther65 (192 posts) at 09:07 PM:
Von, I can see how you would try to be optimistic in this situation and how you would hope that it will work out for you, hell it's half a mil. However it just doesn't sound like its gonna pan out my friend and how can a stranger have any faith in a shady situation like this whe you yourself aren't 100% sure its legit, sure you sound like your convincing yourself is but there is some doubt in your posts. Did you talk to brandnewme???? It sounds way to sketchy, would you lend me thousands of dollars in the same situation where you knew nothing at all about the people or companies involved? Someone is getting scammed here, it sounds like it may be you so don't drag anyone else down. So far it sounds like you haven't lost anything yet. Maybe you should count your blessings and try again with another firm or company that is of the US of A and sit down in person with them. I would think that anyone that was going to pay you 500,000 dollars would meet with you numerous times in person in advance and would go through all kind of precautions. Best of luck with your ventures but be carefull my friend.

Gosh, folks -- I keep coming back to this thread because it really makes me smile every time I read it. Thank you all SOOOOO MUCH!!!! Crone -- thanks for the tip. I'm like zooman, A&P will likely be my favorite course, even if it is the hardest. After all, one of my pasttimes as a kid was collecting roadkill for dissection. I know, ewwww. But it was fascinating. And I wasn't going after neighborhood pets or anything. ;-) Now Chemistry ... that will suck. Some of your messages have really made me see how fortunate I am to be able to do this right now. I wasn't thinking of that so much when I did it -- that it's a luxury to have time and/or money (well, sortof) to go back to school. So, I want to thank you for not letting me take such fortune for granted! It really does help to have perspective. Lala -- can we use the multi-colored clicky pens to chart? :-D -- Karenna

Thread: Seeing people do crazy exercises at the gym... (102 Views)

Body for Life Forum Message by sas (31 posts) at 12:11 PM: Seeing people do crazy exercises at the gym...
I am all for empowering people to become active, so this thread isn't about cutting on people at the gym. It's just that while there, I see people doing crazy things that might hurt them. Yesterday this woman was doing an exercise with her back so hunched she couldn't have been working any other muscles, just wonder where is the gym's responsibility in that. But then it would probably be hard to have someone walk around and guide people to use the equipment correctly. Still, I would think that it would be harmful to the equipment as well. Like dress shoes on the treadmill.

Body for Life Forum Message by georgiawendy (310 posts) at 12:23 PM:
I've seen crazy things there too. There was a really skinny guy at my old gym who try to squat with a barbell +300 pounds of weight on it. He would bend strangely at the waist and lower himself about two inches and then back up over and over again. It made me cringe to watch him. After many more hideous exercises, he would then proceed to the bike where he would drip sweat all over the bike and floor, sometimes for an hour or more I was told. The gym owner and trainers tried numerous times to help him, but he would not even listen. Then I'd see him limp out of the gym every day and get into his car with his new handicap sticker hanging from the mirror. Wonder why? Dress shoes on the treadmill? Can't say I've ever seen that!

Body for Life Forum Message by sas (31 posts) at 12:26 PM:
Yes, there are also people there that just appear to be regularly sampling all the machines. Again, it's so great that people are getting into the gym and trying things out. I know what a hurdle the home to gym trek can be... but it just seems they would get so much more out of it if they were helped out or asked.

Body for Life Forum Message by chuckdiesel99 (803 posts) at 12:29 PM:
Some exercises look crazy or dangerous but are safe as long as you keep good form. I get some strange looks when I do Good Mornings and stiff leg deadlifts sometimes.

Body for Life Forum Message by georgiawendy (310 posts) at 12:30 PM:
I would have been one of those sampler type people if it would not have been for the BFL book and the pictures to help get me started. I've never had a trainer, well unless you count BP :-)

Body for Life Forum Message by georgiawendy (310 posts) at 12:31 PM:
Good mornings are INSANE! lol I'm kinda of scared to try those.

Body for Life Forum Message by sas (31 posts) at 12:41 PM:
Yes, good mornings are one of the ones I was referring too! But the girl didn't keep her back straight, it was totally hunched, and I felt bad because it looked like she would really hurt the next day.

Body for Life Forum Message by amkazen (245 posts) at 02:37 PM:
Good mornings are tough for me so I am keeping the weight low until I master the technique. Chuck, I am hoping that site you provided me has a video of a good morning being done properly. I have often wondered the same about gym liability. Yesterday raygeo and I watched a guy do the lat pull and his body was up off the seat, knees being held, somewhat, by the knee bar, and then he would yank the lat bar down, back hunched, and then try to pull the weight down with his arms, and then do it all over again. OUCH. All I can say is I bet a good lawyer would have a field day with the gym for letting obvious bad technique go unaddressed in the gym.

Body for Life Forum Message by chuckdiesel99 (803 posts) at 03:13 PM:
The best video I have found for a good morning is here. My link takes you right to a Mpeg video. Basically you want to keep your back arched and your head up. Try to keep the weight in the same vertical plane and move your arse back as you bend over. Keeping your head up ( I dont think the guy in the video has it up high enough) keeps your back from rounding which can lead to lower back injury.

So I really am hooked. I was going to take off until we got back from NC, which would have been the 9th. There is just no way I can make it. lol I have been baking cookies, and making (well and eating) treats all week. Haven't gone to the gym at all. I can't wait for Monday. I plan on full out BFL all week. I just can't get into the swing of things as far as eating junk and not working out. I am happy for this though. Lets me know how much I really do love taking care of myself. Anyway Everyone have a Merry Christmas and a wonderful Holiday ;) Ursula

Hmmmmm I've been brainwashed in a good way. It's a great feeling huh! ;-)

THINK POSITIVE!

Keep on Believing!

Keep on believing that you have
what it takes

into a reality.
Keep on Beliving
and thinking positive thoughts,
know that you have the ability to do anything,
Find the encouragement inside yourself
to know that you're worthwhile
and distinct and special
know that you are someone who deserves
the VERY BEST there is.

I went to the ER at 2:00am was there until 7:00am where I was admitted to the hospital until 2:45pm just so they can tell me they can't figure out why I have this rash and swollen joints (finger, wrist, elbows, knees, bottom of my feet and where my butt meets my hamstring.) I recieved no medication to make it feel better. Since it's Christmas Eve there was no one available to figure out what is wrong. Can't wait to see the bill from the "world know" Cleveland Clinic. I am still in so much pain.

Body for Life Forum Message by AngRoCamp (123 posts) at 02:35 PM:
Yikes! What a miserable way to spend Christmas Eve. Hope you can find relief from the pain!!!

Body for Life Forum Message by crone (439 posts) at 02:38 PM:
Thank, I hope I find relief too and some sleep. I was poked and prodded the entire time because they were clueless. They thought it was fun because it was unusual.

Body for Life Forum Message by T~N~T (917 posts) at 02:41 PM:
OMGoodness. That sucks! I hope it's nothing serious. I guess they would have not released you if they thought it was. Well, who knows? Just make sure you have good respiratory function and relax a little if you can. I can't believe they did not give you something for the swelling. I guess if they don't know what it is they don't want to risk giving you something that could make things a whole lot worse. Oh I feel for ya! I hope you are relieved of the pain or it just simply goes away. Take care and try to relax as much as possible. Feel better. -T

Did they call in all the residents and medical students being forced to work Christmas Eve? :-) My first thought was some kind of acute arthritis or gout attack. I hope you get some pain relief for Christmas crone!!

Body for Life Forum Message by amkazen (245 posts) at 02:41 PM:
Yes, I hope you fins the answer soon. Did they prescribe ibuprofen or some other anti-inflammatory drug? Did you eat anything unusual the last day or so? What was different that you can think of in your activities?

The first person to see me in ER was a resident. I started calling him JR. MD when he said that it looks like eczema. I could hear the ER Dr chewing him out about it after he took a look at it. The ER Dr. said maybe Lupus or Rhumatoid arthritis and he was capable ofg diagnosing me so he admitted me. The Drs. on the floor couldn't figure it out either and Rhemotology was closed for the holiday so they pet me on the head and told me to call them on Tues.

Body for Life Forum Message by crone (439 posts) at 02:46 PM:
They asked me all those questions too. and no they prescribed nothing. All I have now is aspirin and Aleve so I'm not sure what to do.

On Tuesday, I would definitely ask for blood work for all autoimmune diseases including rheumatoid arthritis and lupus, as well as the test for Lyme disease. Not trying to scare you...just good to rule everything out.

Well at least they fed me twice. It was so BFL unfriendly. Breakfast: French Toast with syrup, egg omlete, sugar flakes with 2% milk, coffee, and orange juice. Lunch: 2 sides of mashed potatoes(one with gravy), corn, salsbury steak with gravy, coffee, wheat bread, and fruit cup. These meals are too carb heavy.
